@darcellbios Patti first sang this song in 1966 with the Bluebelles. The definitive version, which you see here, she first recorded as a solo artist in 1981. Her first live solo performance that I know of was on Soul Train that same year. She NEVER does lip-sync to her own tunes, not even on the Train.

If I'm not mistaken, her appearance on 'Soul Train' that same year might have been the first time she sang it solo and live (no lip-sync or AutoTune for her, ever). If you're lucky, you might catch that episode on BET Centric.

AMAZING. Singers- take note I'm not talking about performers- needs to watch this and learn. Forget about your surroundings , stop trying to look sexy (leave that for the promos),and just close your eyes, trust your voice and listen to your heart.
