  • great playin!! what strings do you use?

  • instantly liked!...thanks a lot for this comprehensive lesson in advanced slapping =)....ive been looking everywhere for something like this...ive already more or less got the basics of slap down...but i was stuck in a pattern rut...i kept playing the same slap/pop sounds but at different tempos...and i wasnt sure where to go from there...thanks for the new perspective!

  • thanxfor this great lesson, you have the patience to really showhow to do it!!!!greetings

  • Love this lesson....

    No word and short

  • i saw all your lessons!!you are a very good teacher!!cheers fromm greece!!

  • sweet tone u got there dude. gna learn this badass lick now

  • Wow. Someone who actually knows hot to make a LESSON video! I can actually follow along. Most videos I see where I want to learnt he technique, the person is just ripping through it, and cannot speak. This guy doe no need to talk. He simply repeats, uses hand gestures, and works the lick at different speeds. NOT to mention changing the angle of his bass so you can see it at different angles. A true teacher here.

  • deadly buzz sir ;)

  • Thank you very much... I actually learn more from your 2 minute lessons than my 1 hour lessons at skool!!!!

  • very good pace, and running! perfect used didactically and repetitive! congrats man, you rocked!

  • I've decided even if I'm not in the mood to even hold a bass in my hand and I've now ammassed 5 of them and piled all around me as I typed this. Its worth going over these video clips atleast once a day if just to keep the fire going!

  • this is a great lesson thanks man!!!i like it alot!

  • sorry one more thing I have to ask, you're not using the 1 finger per fret rule? is this something that's disregarded in slap bass?

    cheers

  • well, normally what I do is I use my index to play a note lets say at fret 5, then the pinky I use it to play the fret 7 and my other fingers are less used, because they are used to mute the strings above

  • finally, a guy on youtube who respects the fact many players are tired of a trillion "beginner" vids

    cool lesson 5/5

  • I see so many good riffs like this one in tutorials on youtube and it's always so tempting to steal them and use them as my own... But that, of course, would be really lame.

  • LOL. I use some of my riffs in my band, so they are in use :-)

  • Isnt it a point to use them? Thats why they are out there. They had to get them from somewhere and someone else first right?

What is left that hasnt already been done in playing the bass?

  • No the point of the video is to teach you techniques and show you riffs you can play to practise the techniques... So you just want to steal somebody elses work and claim it as your own? That's pretty lame.

  • What I was getting at was to use them to learn from them, not about claiming as your own. To say that they were your own would be lame. That I agree.

  • I see.

  • I already learnt this, but I still watch it cuz your awesome!! By the way, did you ever show your face? Or maybe you are god and you dont want ppl to know :O

  • You get to see his face in his later video clips.

  • sick riff good job , great tone too

  • how long play you????

i am a begginer for you

    xD

  • Personally I think it lacks groove because your throwing every slap trick you know at it in the first couple bars, sometimes less is more and helps those cool double plucks stand out more. Just my thoughts.

  • i think your jealous kbot86

  • @kbot86 that's true, but this is a tutorial. more techniques you throw in the more the viewer leans.

p.s, great job, sexy riff, but why not talk? makes it easier for everyone :)

  • Its a tutorial and a master piece at that. Its got some stuff in here some players never even thought of. "Less is more" style is good for certain genres and styles of music but this shows that the slap bass is capable of so much more..

  • @bladesaint21 ... Strongly agreed!!..Overall best "Silent" tutorial that teaches the most of nearly everything the bass can do in a single lesson! Any one of the 5 elements in this clip is a lesson in its self, and we get 5!!.

  • Very nice, i shall attempt this one tomorrow! I like all your slap riffs and the quirky origionality of them all

  • Thanks man

  • Im a fan of your lessons. All taught in silence, still so perfect.

  • Amazing... I wish more people taught bass lines like this... Thanks!

  • Thank you

  • Nice touch and tempo. Keep burning up the path.

  • this is extremely difficult here i was thinking i was king of slap hahahah

    this is a great video

    thanks man

not that i can play it yet hahah

  • You're welcome. Good luck with your practice :-)

  • Man thats a preety long time!! would be great if we cud hear you music!!

  • Hey man where are you from, u r the answers to my prayers, am learning a lot thanks to you, iam from Nagaland, India. God bless you!! Do you play in some band?

  • Thank you. I play in a danish band called Mobility. We just reunited the band after a 12 years break.

  • i havnt had any lessons yet, but i can play this quite well (obviously not as well as ThadewGrum). can any one tell me what sort of grade this thing would be.

  • You get a greenbelt with 1 stripe on it.

  • LOL. I agree with bladesaint21. This is medium difficulty.

  • You are incredibly generous with what youre offering free in these clips, this stuff is GOLD! DAYAMMN~~ BE careful, some of the other bass guys charging on their sites might send a hitman out for you! *LOL*

  • WOw the sliding double stops are SWEEEET!

  • Finally someone who can really teach!!...All these other jerks go fast and just show off, you go slow so we can learn...Thank you!!

  • you're welcome :-)

  • stumbled on to vids and they have become quite helpful in my pursuit of funk. keep up the good work.

  • kra muito bom mesmo, parabéns the boocks on the table

  • cool lick!~Thank you@!~

greeting from the other side of the globe~!!!!!

  • Greetings to you and thanks.

  • humongous, titanic set of hands you've got there.

  • i think your bass is mega out of tune there... or else my tuner is busted

  • dude, you make it look so easy!

  • That's because you didn't see all the other attempts where I didn't play it right :-)

It's a very new technique for me, and I'm still learning it.

  • are you kidding me? new? your im trying to learn but its freakin hard. are you teaching yourself?

  • So good!.

  • nice !
