CARNIVALE was too risque for most who don't want to conceive of a corrupt preacher making dirty deals with politicians and committing horrible acts like rape and torture,,,no not very realistic at all...I loved the show because it had believable characters, great dialogue, and mystery and magic.

I loved this show. It is so weird I was so into all the characters. Never watched a show like it since Star Trek or X Files for emotions they stirred within me.

I like this show immensely. It's a shame it was canceled. But the fact is, most people couldn't stand it (don't ask me why). I tried making every one of my close friends watch this. Everyone loathed it and blamed me for making them watch such a "confusing" and "boring" show. They returned the DVDs to Blockbuster and switched it for Smallville seasons 4 and 5 instead....sigh...

I know what you mean. Some of my friends accepted it, and loved it, but some couldn't stand it. Many people today can only watch shows like Smallville because they don't like not having all the info about the show right away. If there's even the slightest bit of mystery about a plot, they don't like it because they want all the action and story from the start so they don't have to think; just stare blankly and be amused.

I think the first season can be a bit hard to get into. I know that, without having to constantly look up things on Wikipedia, I was dead confused about what the hell was happening. XD I think the second season moves a lot faster, picks up the pace, and explains the mythology more clearly to the audience -- it's a lot more accessible, IMO, where perhaps the first season was less so, and slower moving/more vague. But I really love Carnivale! Once it hooks you, you can't stop watching, haha.

keep in mind, not a lot happens in each episode, or since the first few.

I mean if you watch game of thrones, you know if you miss one episode, you are fucked for the rest of the series

I captured the sound directly from the episode when it starts skipping, because I found it too difficult to reproduce the skipping sound. The rest of the music is the actual track which I found online.
