Truly incredible. The manpower involved to build these mounds just boggles the mind. That was cool when the guide pointed directly to you and said your interpretation was as good as his.

I saw a documentary on Newgrange a few years ago. They were debating exactly how these vaults were used,ancient burial customs and beliefs.Some came to the conclusion that these pre-Celtic people had used the site for families to come and mourn the dead.The bones were stacked up by the thousands.

@1488bill Yeah, it was an amazing sight, and considering how very thinly populated the country was then, it must have taken up a very significant amount of their resources to build all of this. A really fascinating place, I'm so glad we went there even though my friend grumbled at what a tourist trap it has become ;-)
