First off, your camera needs a beach craft box to accept xlr in puts (professional mic plugs). B&H has a great website, its B&Hphotovideo , and they have tons of audio equipment!
Is it normal for the boom mic to have lower audio levels than a lav? I have a senheisser and I notice I have to get awful close with the mic to pic up what I believe to be a decent level
Sometimes, if you watch the next episode coming this Monday, you could learn a thing or two about directional patterns. I usually have to get in as close as possible, and depending on the mic, i may have to use a pretty good amount of gain on the mixer as well. Let me know if that helps!
Thanks for the piece on mics and distances. I guess I'm wondering how the hollywood folks do it with their boom mic so far away. I guess it's that distance for ambient sound since they will do the mic work in studio.
Where can I buy an audio mixer and how much are they? Also, would they work wit a consumer camera? I have a Canon zr800.
