This film would have stunk to high heaven, were it not for Clancy Brown's portrayal of The Kurgan. He not only made the film worth watching, he stole the show completely!! Fuck all the other Highlander bad guys (& good guys, come to think of it) - They'd ALL get their asses butchered by The Kurgan. (still say he should have won that fight w/Connor.)

If Davis/Panzer had ANY brains, they'd re-do the whole series - with Kurgan as the main protagonist!!

They are planning a Highlander remake. If it's done well, and that's a BIG if, I think the Kurgan should be played by True Bloods Alexander Skarsgard. He definitely has the physical presence and I think he has more than the acting ability to bring a new take on the character.

When you read the character background for Kurgan from Highlander 1, it says that he was born in the Russian Steppes and learned how to fight as soon as he learned how to walk. Kurgan is actually a Russian word, which means "Burial Mound", such as "Mamayev Kurgan". The real Kurgan really did wear armor made of skulls and bones. It seems even this fantasy movie was stuck in a Cold War -- the villain must be an "evil Russian" *laughs*. Ironically, Kurgan became more popular than Highlander. :-)
