  • I used (in America) loreal Hicolor Hilights in Red. 30 developer. My hair was dyed an orange before, now its like this: facebook/katiefloyd728 (You know how to make that link work!). When using this, if your hair is dyed it won't work anywhere but your roots (virgin hair). That being said it DOES work on dyed red/orange hair. Wash in ice cold water every 4 days with red shampoo&conditioner. If you want tips and such message me on the facebook fan page I linked.

  • Well, I see your roots are kinda dark, but I keep wondering if, having dyed ALL my hair in black (what a mistake --"), I'll have the same result as you :s

In France we're lucky, we can have those products without being a hair dressing student ahah! &, as CenaGirlxx said, your videos are addicting! But I would have be interested in a video before your hair was red, to see how you did the first time you dyed it in red :P

So, thank for your videos! ;) (& sorry about my maybe bad English :P)

  • if i use a 2o vol or 3o vol. whats the difference? i want my hair red but not bright red. help?

  • these majicontrast colors are awesome! i used magenta red and i totally fucking loooove it :)

  • Does it last any longer??

  • Hey, my hair is like burgandy-ish and yours is already red... Would majicontrast still work? Cuz maybe since u already had red, it helped bring the color out better...???

  • your so funny xD

  • You fucking saved my life <3

  • How many oz is in the tube u used?

  • Its Roho, :D

  • Woah!!! Way cool!! Do they have any other colours? And, can it work for really dark brown hair? My hair is, like, almost black xD.

  • " Rouge " is in French c;

  • I love how you said rojo

  • gonna dye my hair soon,, ive seen this vid about a 100times

    this is strangely addicting O.O

  • You're funny, I like you. SUBBED.

  • GASP dude i got that at sallys for my friends hair and it turned a lightly duller color than your hair, it was IN-SANE

  • You Are So F'N Pretty (;

  • YOU NEVER DYE YOUR EYEBROWS. Why are people so stupid. I'm starting beauty school, and you never want to dye your eyebrows NO MATTER WHAT. If you dye them, there's absolutely no way of getting your original color back unless you a) shave them or b) Go to a salon professional to do them and they would end up damaged to no end and it'd cost alot of money. Plus there are natural variations in everybody's hair color. There's no "rule" that your eyebrows need to be any certain shade from your hair.

  • do ur eyebrows the same color, please?

  • Comment removed

  • Colour looked fab but u should only use 10 vol on the mid lengths and ends as they don't need lightening just brightening back up! This will also limit the damage to ur hair n make the colour last longer :D

  • Louna I swear I'm just the younger canadian version of you..... so i guess that makes you my idol? :|

  • haha her spanish is funny RO-JO its pronounce RO-HO

  • my hairdresser probably used majicontrast and my hair was verry dark first and now its bright red!! i'm happy :D

  • So, I´m now done dying my hair and it totally failed XD only the parts of my hair that were already blonde got red...

  • I'm going to do this today, hope it works:P hahaha

  • Awesome tutorial! Love your humor. I'm going to try this for sure :)

  • lol, "clean up so your mom doesnt kill you." hah, sounds liek my mom!!!!!!!!

  • I hate when it turn orange!

  • mymindisfulloffuck

  • does this work for long almost black hair, to dye it all red?... and will my hair die.. :P

  • @666Bloodjane

It does work on black hair. It will damage your hair since there's chemicals changing your hair color.

  • WOW! ♥

  • My mom would probably never let me dye it that color! :(((((

  • what size tube is that 50 ml?

  • hi i had bright red hair for ages i used pillar box and poppy red directions mixed on bleached hair but ti fades so quick and comes off on everything plus my hairs wrecked from the bleach i wanna try this tho!iv got a dark dye on ym hair at the momemt but think il give it a go how often did you ahve to do your hair to stop it fading when suing this! thanks x

  • Would this work with all other colours too or just this red???

  • Comment removed

  • my hair is about the same length as yours but i was told one tube of Majicontrast will do me with 75ml of peroxide....should i go buy more?????

  • fyi you can use cranberry juice to make red hair look temporarily more vibrant if you need a quick boost :)

  • @tay1807 you should use a color protein filler it fills the gaps:)

  • I love the theory but u should have based ur scalp

  • Didnt you play Charlette in H2O?

  • @VAnnes98 .... wtf?

  • you look like haley williams:) <3

  • You're so cuteee :) Oh and do you think this would be okay to use on extensions? Mine are already blonde.

  • you Look Good W. Red Hair :)

  • I should be wearing gloves for this.. Nauugghtty! LMBO Best part EVER! <3

  • the amount of times i've seen these. you can't get them i stores so...?

  • Ohh how many times I watch this .... xP

  • You are very, very pretty!

  • I was wondering if you could use the majicontrast without the lift?

Because I can't get it and I don't want to bleach my hair, I'm only doing foils and my hair is quite dark soo yeaa?

Can I do it without the lift?

  • your pictures at the end were obviously photoshopped

  • @themadhatter10771 lol they really weren't! I use a Canon 60D to shoot my pics, with a 50mm and 18-55mm lens, so the photos come out looking as true as possible.

Also, I have no reason to photoshop them, i'm not trying to trick anyone into using this product, i'm just showing my process & results :)

  • 0:01 so u can skip ads

  • i live in australia and the links you supplied only do shipping for us n uk :(

  • Now this is what I keep calling "Park Bom red", and I am super stoked that it is possible without bleaching beforehand! =3.

  • never mind, i found my answer... it's not the same!! D: *cries*

  • HEY LOUNA!!! I have a Question.I live in Greece and I searched everywhere for this product Majicontrast, couldn't find it but found MajiROUGE and Majirel by Loreal. Are either of these the same product as Majicontrast? I asked the woman who worked there but she didnt know to much about it :/

  • QUESTION!: I wanna color my hair bright red like this BUT I'm not sure how it will take on my hair. My ends are actually darker then my roots. I colored my hair a non permanant black over two years ago and have been trying to grow it out ever since. Natural hair color is a medium brown. Once a month I color my "roots" with natural instincts in a dark brown to blend with the black. My hair is long so yes even though two years have passed theres still black in there. don't want to bleach. HELP

  • I WANT RED HAIR!

  • this helped me so much. Now hopefully if I show this to my parents it'll convince them that it won't kill my hair. <3 Thank yoouuu <3

  • ... and by the time you're 60, you will be bald; looks very good now though

  • your lucky you have lighter skin and you can get away with red hair. i wish i could have red hair, have been trying all through high school and college. don't work for me.

  • Amazon had it

  • ur so funny tho

  • Hi!! I read somewhere that you shouldn't use majicontrast on your hair close to the scalp because it can cause an extreme reaction...Just wanted to know if anyone knows anything more about this?

  • i used the same colour as you did and it didnt work for me at all.. i have black dyed hair.

after i washed the colour out, the roots were bright red, the rest dark brown-black and the tips where severely damaged. had to cut off 10cm of my long hair :( i spent soo much money on this (need 2 boxes of colour for my once-long hair) and had nothing from it :(

  • @blackfairyblood Well, your hair is dyed black. Naturally a simple dye couldn't lift that. The pigment level is far too dark. You'll need to bleach, or grow it out. Majicontrast only lifts three hair levels maximum.

  • Hi, can you please answer this?

I want to dye my hair red, but I got it dyed black with a permanent color. So could I maybe bleach my hair one time or two and then use this dye?

  • @ashely1550 I would suggest seeing a professional. You can't dye over black, even with Majicontrast. The pigmentation in black is far too strong and dark for it to lift, as it only lifts three levels. Bleach black hair is really tough, and having a professional tone it would make your hair happier in the long run.

  • I would :)

  • You DO skip the bleaching process, but there's chemicals in the dye and developer that act the same way. It still damages the hair.

  • Awww poo. I bought Loreal HiColour Highlights in red, used two boxes and went all over my hair. I love it - except I left it on my roots way too long, and now they're so, so much brighter than the rest of my hair. I dunno what to do. /: I guess wait it out. But my dad nearly killed me when he saw it DX

  • @SweetBabyMonkeyJesus I was going to use that dye...

How long do you think I should leave my roots in for?

  • @Borednstufff Depends. Are your roots a different color than the rest of your hair? Or a different shade, I mean. Is the rest of your hair already lighter? If so, I'd do what she does. If not, I'd apply it the same length of time.

But IF you applied to the roots any longer than the rest, and the rest of the your hair isn't lightened, I'd only apply maybe a max of 3-5 minutes before the rest. I hope this makes sense. :P

  • @SweetBabyMonkeyJesus How did it look? Like was it a significant difference? And Was your hair dyed previously?

  • @VivicaViolet It's a pretty significant difference. I think the problem is that because I left it on my roots so much longer and use an entire box on my roots alone, it lifted nearly all of that colour out. I used another box on the rest of my hair and about 10-15 min less than the roots, and there's still a trace of brown in it, and the red is slightly darker whereas my roots are cherry red. And yes, my hair was dyed previously, but it was an auburn red.

  • does that dye come in other colors? will it wash out within a few months/weeks?

  • i would but my fucking stupid school wont let me becuz its "unnatural"

  • I will do this is 5 years. Yes.

  • Psychoimmortallity I used that hair dye and it made my roots red but the rest of my hair dark cherry red so be careful

  • Can u get those in new zealand??

  • I'm sorry that hair dye is in australia >_> D: im in the USA. i dont have a credit card im 13 >_> ftw. oh well ill bleach my hair then ;l

  • @psychoimmortally In the States you can use L'Oreal Excellence HiColor Reds, which is sold at Sally Beauty Supply! I use it on my hair which is naturally very dark, and it works great.

  • @omgitsrobotz Oh thanks! I'll look for it :D that's where i got my 'quickblue' bleach too. haha.

  • Ok I have a question...I did this without bleach too...but something horrible happened. My roots came in the most absolute perfect color but the rest of my hair is a dark cherry red. Have you ever had this happen andddd if so, how did you fix it?

  • Ha Ha i love how she pronounces rojo!

  • I did have it that bright but I bleached it and it REALLY damages your hair like you said. I ended up cutting my hair a lot to get it all the ruined hair out. This is way better, it's like dying your hair only

  • vol = volume you sound rediculous

  • There is a forum of hairdressers mentioning this video. They are annoyed people are asking for this to be done at their salon, and they are "NO WAY"!! Although i have done the above myself..never again. It says you must NOT let this touch the scalp or skin. It is just to be used as streaks :-(

  • ur so cute and pretty :)

  • Does the brand stained the scalp? The reason why i ask I have very fine hair. Love ur hair color :-)

  • can I use L'Oreal's Peroxide? does it make any difference?

  • So can you use any peroxide? Cuz I'm dying my hair red and I hate prebleaching!

  • she says no bleach but then yet still she uses bleach.. im confused

  • @msprettybunny1 shes not using eaxh shes using peroxide, peroxide is used for lifting colour, like if u were to dye it dark u would want a 10.

  • @msprettybunny1 Right? lol Developer is what lifts the color out... just saying..

  • how long does this color last?

  • Have you ever used any of the Loreal Majirouge colours? I can't find swatches of the colours anywhere but they are meant to be ultra bright reds for all over colour instead of the Majicontrast which was made for highlights. Just wondering if you've used of seen used somewhere! Thanks and I love your videos, highly entertaining!

  • I used the products in this except makicolour and used the hi colour, did all the steps and my hair turned out darker !? wtf.

  • ARIEL!

  • What was your haircolor before? I have super dark hair, basically black, and I want to dye my hair bright red, soo.

  • My mom's a hairdresser and developer does almost as much damage as bleach. It lightens the hair as it colors..so its pretty much coloring your hair and bleaching it in one step. The higher the volume the more light the hair will be.

  • @DoTheDaftNow worded it exactly as i was going to lol x

  • Comment removed

  • @DoTheDaftNow lol dont think you meant that for me lol xxx

  • is it just me or does it look photoshopp\ed

  • @themadhatter10771 I don't think it really matters if the pictures are photoshopped because when you see the end result in the video footage its vibrant !

  • Impressive!!

  • peroxide is usually half of the bleach formula, so you still used harsh chemicals on your hair... but it's still a good idea if you want to avoid going through the whole bleaching process. can be quite annoying.

  • This would've been great if I had a hair dressing license..

  • @jellothere there are websites where you can buy majicontrast WITHOUT license :)

  • @Ceetje999 & what websites are these?

  • @jellothere go to amazon (i live in the netherlands so they only sell majicontrast on a dutch site) BUT you can buy something that works EXACTLY the same that they sell in US, its called L'Oreal Excellence Hicolor Hilights Red it works exactly the same! (idk where you live, but probs in US) if not tell me ill search for you (:

  • Great one.

  • Just wondering does the carpet match the curtains

  • omg!! You look amazing!!!!

  • Will this work on color treated hair? my hair is dyed brown (also my natural).

  • i just fell in love in your hair after kimmi's video! beautiful xoxo

  • so, wait the peroxide in the developer doesnt damage your hair in the same or similar way bleach does??

  • rojo is spanish for red and the "j" is pronounced with an "H" sound

  • Omg you're adorable! I'm going to do something like this to my hair....except I'm already ginger. We'll see how that goes once my hair gets long enough. Currently, it would be so pointless since I'm trying to grow it all out. (Bleached my hair almost white blonde. Such a dumb idea. GINGERS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO DO THAT!)

  • damn your cute

  • even if it's not bleach, this plain "red" colour contains almost the same chemical solvents that are in the bleach too. And peroxide at 40? It is too strong and too destructive. Unfortunately this is the only way for this amazing hair colour.

  • holy crud thats amazeballs

  • My red hair dye isn't working out so much,

I've looked around everywhere for this stuff, only places in stock is ebay & they overcharge plus I don't trust them :P

So my question is about the Loreal Hi-Color,is that like a 2nd best thing or is it basically the same?

Ill go to Ebay if I must, but not if the Hi-Color gives the same results:)

  • does this process work on already dyed hair? because my hair has been dyed black several times. and i was just wondering if this would cover it all up?

  • LOL! You're absolutely adorable!! and funny :)

Epping? in melbourne too then? lol

  • lol i love how you said rojo

  • Finally another awesome aussie on youtube! i wont have to keep stalking communitychannel anymore =.="

  • I love this, you're hilerious!

  • I love the way you said "Rojo", its more like.. "Rro-ho" '(:

  • mine went orange so not a colour i wanted to go.

  • Thank you for this vid, finally I found a red color which is PERFECT! haaaaaaaaa :*

  • to keep the red longer, dont use 10 volume, use 20 :) im a stylist

  • What happens if your hair was bleached from black to brown, then dyed to a darker brown o.o. Will it work, or will I have to strip the hair of the dye?

  • @thefudgestix im about to try that out today, ill come back after im done and tell u... well, if i dont come pack means my hair is pink and i killed myself! :))

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @LolietaDoll How did it go? Assuming you didn't kill yourself over pink hair o.o.

  • @thefudgestix not as good as i expected it do be. Its red, but not as red as hers... as i said above, is more like a blood-reed (u know when there is alot of blood in one place it stops having the bright red color and its more like brown, that kind of thing)... im dissapointed ofc, i ordered this all the way from usa, but well. i guess i shuld quit wanting her red hair xD . so, she did amazing, but the product its not the same on all type of hair... try it ;) srry for my english

  • lol i hav an allergy 2 vaseline. lol im goin fire red so basicly the colour u wer b4 u dyed it :)

  • I've been watching a couple of your videos recently, when you said epping I freaked because I live so close to there. It's a small world I guess.

  • lol rojo. it's pronounced "roho".

  • LOL I love your commentary xDDD

  • you iz from england so iz i :D

  • @kkdj123456789 shes from australia

  • do you think i could do this with my whole head ?

  • @xSHEENASAURUSx of course thats how she started. i used to have hair like this and i did my whole hair like that!

  • This is just as bad as bleach. But you inspired me to dye it red :) I use I think they call it the american version of Majicontrast- Loreal Hicolor Hilights in Red. I used it sunday and it's crazyyy red, more red than any professional could get (they're such a waste of money) But anyway, I used a 30 volume developer too and my hair is frieddd. Just saying it still damages your hair immensely, more than bleach did for me actually! But I love the results so much and I love your hair too :)

  • Pretty!!! I love the color.

  • Love all your videos! They are helpful and I get a good laugh out of it... You should consider comedy. Hope you have a good day:)

  • How often do you color it?

  • funny how you pronounced the spanish word for red "rojo" xD

no offence, i'm spanish and it sounded funny :P

    nice tut btw

  • if you didn't want it as bright, would you just do the first application?

  • @laneyy11 use a volume 20 developer. 30 makes it really bright and is extra damaging

  • @laneyy11 you'd use a 20 volume developer to make it not as bright. 30 makes it very bright and is very damaging, I wouldn't use 40 that's for bleaching your hair blonde

  • do you know if this works with other colors besides red?

  • they do sell this hair dye on ebay, but it is expensive :)

  • what if my hair is all dark dark redish purple black...can I do the first step you did all over my hair without doing the second step? Thanks :) You look so sexy

  • you're awesome and adorable :)

  • i thought this was kat von d lol

  • Why does your hair look so shiny? ><

  • @lightbluefishes The only difference between liquid and creme developer is the viscosity. So long as you purchased the volume you need, you will be ok.

  • Where can I find this manic panic dye color?

  • how would you get a slightly darker shade of red than what you hair came out?

Love your videos! Love your hair!

  • for the people wondering what color your hair will turn out:

i have dyed hair almost like a burnt auburn and your hair wont turn out bright red evenw ith 40 developer.

it only goes that bright if you have undyed hair or if it's already red

  • i would figure theres already bleach in the product.
