I'm American, and went to Canada for the Olympics. I was so touched by how kind everyone was. I got seriously lost and was afraid to ask for help, but when I finally did, this wonderful group of ladies not only told me where my hotel was, but made a point to walk with me to make sure I got back ok. I'll never forget that.
I have never served in the armed force's. I have many friends on both sides of the border. I Have served as a firefighter and I'm retired now. I have family that have served in one way or another, Lost in battle, Past cop's. Firefighters and friends and son's of friends that now serve in our military. We stand tall beside our American allies!!!!!! I hope you all feel the same !! May there never be another 911!!
This tribute is so incredibly moving. NBC played it just before the opening of the Vancouver Olympics. I get goosebumps every time I watch it. As a Canadian, I was extremely touched. Beautifully done.
What a great tag team Canada and America makes. I love watching this video. Thank you so much for all your help with 9/11 Canada. It will never be forgotten.
I agree - we (the USA) have the best neighbor in the world. I know we can be a noisy neighbor and it must be hard to live next to us at times. But you Canadians don't even complain about it much. We sure would if it was the other way around!
Of course it's easier to be a 'poodle' when your not gnashing your teeth at every other dog on the planet. People are the same all over man, it's an imaginary line. And thank you too.
Always interesting to see how others view us, especially our neighbours to the south. Not sure why he put so much emphasis on the Iran hostage crisis and yet made no mention of the Canada's contribution to the First World War. Curious.
Agreed. He also mentioned D-Day but never mentioned Hong Kong or Ortona or Dieppe or Somme,Vimy,Passchendaele, St Julien Kitchiners Wood. I guess it was meant to be short and to the point. Good vid anyways.
Fantastic video which correctly shows Canada to be an upstanding and outstanding Nation.
Such presentations can always have more content, and deserving elements will always be omitted from such a short film, but pretty damn good for 6 minutes.
Good job Mr. Brokaw and very well said, Appreciate the recognization. Life in Canada is so good we open our doors very wide to all nations..Thanks again..
Terrific video Tom, I believe you captured the essence of Canada, for portrayal to the American public. Canada is truly a beautiful place to visit or call home. Politics aside, there isnt a great deal of difference between the peoples of these two great nations.
Too bad the copyright gods will take this down. This is an awesome piece done by one of the great reporters of the world.. Why would they take it down? Screw NBC!

BBC:
"Canada has become the most successful ever nation at a Winter Olympics by winning 14 gold medals to top the medals table in Vancouver."
In Europe, the medals table is ranked by number of golds rather than total medals.

Brings a tear to my eye!
Harper would say something stupid like that...but not from parliament , unless he had dropped by to pick up a pair of indoor shoes he had left there.
lesliejeanmm 2 years ago
@lesliejeanmm Harper actually made those statements before the BC Legislature on Feb 12... Brokaw misspoke.
