What I would've given to have been able to see this exhibit!!!! My favorite piece is undoubtedly "Head On." I LOVE how it represents German History as the artist had intended but also has some Buddhist messages as well. We are all those wolves, constantly running and right when we reach full stride we are cut short and smash into the glass. Then we just run back to do it all over again. It is the Buddhist cycle of life and death which can only be ended by reaching Enlightenment. It's brilliant.
This is why I’d rather be an artist than a spectator... I can't stand pretentious critics (examples below) and lame ass spectators with the creativity of trench coat. When you criticize an art piece be polite about it. To an artist, size is irrelevant unless required; those pieces regardless of size were challenging in its self, and deserve the same respect that a painting gets.
I want to make it to the Guggenheim. It's the only thing on earth that I want, and nothing less. Someone tell me how to get there. I need to have my art featured there. I would do anything... I just don’t know where to start. I'll take any advice.
El arte no puede remediar crisis sea esta de la indole que sea.El arte en un país como el nuestro tambien está en riesgo de crisis donde desde luego quienes han resuelto sus básicos pueden darse tiempo para contemplaciones...
Cai Guo-Qiang is amazing and this particular exhibition is brilliant. The suspended animals, the lights coming out of the car. You don't need additional sound since the imagery is already so vivid. The lights come out of the car sounds like an explosion, the wolves hitting that glass, the expression of the lion as it's pierced by a hundred arrows... The violence in his exhibition really speaks to the issues today.
I don't like the use of dead wolves as a medium for art. To me it says nothing. What is this for. I don't understand the cars with light rays coming out of it. None of it is beautiful, nor meaningful. In fact it is just a shame. After the show, the wolves will just be thrown in a trash bin and the car too and the light rays, someone will borrow to make a lamp and brag that it hung in Bilbao.
the wolves aren't real wolves...the cars aren't real too wow please don't be ignorant of installation art. read the concepts, artist statements, and tributes before u start judging like that
@bboyl3enny please proof read your comment so it makes sense grammatically "the cars aren't real too"??????? I believe you meant to put "either" in place of "too"
@Greatwhite6637 Wow, great observation asshole, did it boost your ego? His english is actually pretty good for someone from Taiwan. How's your taiwanese?
@CMAUVDF The wolves are synthetic, but yes, the works ARE too showy for my taste as well. People are suckers for the spectacle just like bunch of lemmings. People have always preferred fireworks from the sunsets. A tiny painting by Vermeer makes a far greater impact on me.
You rather stop talking about politics here, I don't think that's what "vernissageTV" wanted users to comment on. Each one can have its own way of thinking about whether its Spain or not.
I've been there today and i really enjoyed it. Even though he prepares it thoroughly, a minimum percentage of the work involves chance. That's the point, and besides the beauty of the fireworks, and how such a piece can be done out of gunpowder. Cai's sooo good...
Simply beautiful! My kind of filmmaking - being present w/o interrupting what is going on. Fascinating exhibit too. Thanks for putting this together and sharing.
the architecture is great

@oldpiq I agree, I think higher level art should challenge the viewer in some respect, but of this video, I thought the clay people were the best.
