Ladybird larva are safe to touch - the spikes are more like bumps than spikes - not sharp in any way.

Fascinating, I've had hundreds of ladybirds in my garden today and saw some coccoons, some larva ones and some recently hatched pale coloured ones and wondered how it all worked! Thanks!
