The reason you want to make such distinctions is because there were specific killing expeditions. The Gold Rush comes to mind. Also, Christopher Columbus can be seen as a killing expedition, although the evidence is not as secure. In Texas, Governor Lamarr intended, but did not complete, a killing expedition called the "Indian Clearance Policy."
