Currently, whenever a blonde celebrity goes slightly brunette, she is praised for "reinventing" herself. How stunning it must have been for audiences to see Miss Garland to make this breathtaking transformation, from a woman looking older than her years, wearing tent-like dresses and too much make-up, singing about the grand old days of vaudeville, to show up slim and gorgeous, well-dressed and hilarious, plugging a new movie with a new score and young co-star. It must have seemed magical!
I never knew that Judy admired the great Elizabeth Taylor. That just makes me love her even more now, LOL! Both of those legendary Hollywood stars are resting peacefully in heaven now.
Judy's fibbing. She and Deanna used to talk on the phone when they were in their 30s. They got along.
But the part about Deanna getting fired? She left out that Mr. Mayer said to his secretary, "Fire the fat one", meaning Judy. But the secretary thought he meant Deanna, so they dropped her instead. It was the best mistaken decision he ever made. Judy made him millions.
This is from the first season when Jack appeared on Friday nights at 10pm(et) with a "prime-time" version of his former late-night series; the only difference was, he and his guests sat in swivel chairs facing each other [floor mikes in front of them], rather than the traditional "desk and sofa". Some people believe this segment was seen on "THE TONIGHT SHOW" (or, as it was known during his era, "THE JACK PAAR SHOW"). Nope, this was seen in "prime-time"....
She sounds like Rabbit and Kanga from The Many Grand Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. And doesn't she vibrate/purr her 'R' letters beautifully? Every time I watch this it makes me adore everything about Judy: her humorous emphasised facial and body expressions, her voice, her laugh, are all so full of spunk. She has a really vivacious and warm-hearted personality.
Thank you for uploading the entire interview. I know last time someone posted the whole interview, it was taken off Youtube. Is there a way I can upload it to my computer before it is taken off again?
I also would love to find another, I love ths interview...am I the only one having trouble with the sound on this?? It worked fine a few weeks ago. I love
@plp1964 . I agree about finding more JUDY interviews they used to have the entire 1967 interview with Judy and Jack Paar but youtube took it off and only 5 minutes of audio is available. Judy was on the dec 17th 1968 Tonight show and there is the two songs she sang but no interview footage and she was a guest and guest-host for merv griffin which just has silent footage. I know she was on Gypsy Rose Lee's talk show in the mid 60's. Also,When youtube's sound goes down I log off and log on again.
She seemed a bit drunk on alcohol in this interview.

Whoever could get Judy to laugh, whether it be Martha Ray or Jack, would always get the best singing from the one and only Judy!
