We Brits should be proud to see this. There is so much of our influence in them. We spent two hundred years with them and some of our finest and most valiant soldiers came form the Indian Continent. Listen to that music and watch that drill. It is right off the parade grounds of Aldershot and Pirbright. Close your eyes and that is a British Army band. Their Regiments were trained and formed for eons by the best Officers and Senior NCO's in the world. They are our legacy. View them with pride.

The tune is 'Kadam Kadam Bhadaye Ja' ('Every step forward'). This is a very old marching tune composed by Capt. Ram Singh, who was part of the Indian National Army (not the British Indian Army), led by Subhash Chandra Bose. INA had joined hands with the Japanese Imperial Army, hoping that Japanese would help Indians over throw the British.
This tune is played by all major defence and police bands in India. It is also the regimental march past of the Central Police Organisations in India.
Request you to do a Youtube Search for 'Indian Army Band'. You can get videos of the same band playing during a Japanese Military Music festival, and some of the Indian Army regimental bands playing in locations in India.

The modern day Indian Army (I am not talking about small armies maintained by erst-while kings) is heavily influenced by British Army systems, as it was they who organised a modern day Indian Army. On their own, the Rajputs (if united!), the Sikhs, the Marathas & the Gurkhas by themselves were more than a match for any army in the world but they never did fight as one united front against the British or for that matter any foreign invader. The rajputs fought against the SIkhs in the anglo-sikh wars, this is one small example. :)

We Brits should be proud to see this. There is so much of our influence in them. We spent two hundred years with them and some of our finest and most valiant soldiers came form the Indian Continent. Listen to that music and watch that drill. It is right off the parade grounds of Aldershot and Pirbright. Close your eyes and that is a British Army band. Their Regiments were trained and formed for eons by the best Officers and Senior NCO's in the world. They are our legacy. View them with pride.

The tune is 'Kadam Kadam Bhadaye Ja' ('Every step forward'). This is a very old marching tune composed by Capt. Ram Singh, who was part of the Indian National Army (not the British Indian Army), led by Subhash Chandra Bose. INA had joined hands with the Japanese Imperial Army, hoping that Japanese would help Indians over throw the British.
This tune is played by all major defence and police bands in India. It is also the regimental march past of the Central Police Organisations in India.

We Brits adopted this type of band in the 1760s from the German bands of Frederick the Great when we were allies against the French. It is a musical style known as Wind Harmony.
I would like to say I have the greatest respect and admiration for the Indian Army for the many contributions they made during the two world wars and all the other spheres of conflict that we shared. I am proud to be a Brit but I am glad all the old colonialism is past and done with and I never had to be part of it.

1. The drill you see here, the style of music is played here, the instruments which are used, and the whole concept is purely British. No point denying that aspect. That we were a British colony is also an established fact.
2. For the Veda part I request experts to prove with good proof that what ever invented by the West was based on Vedas.
BTW, you have a good Regimental Centre at Bangalore ;). I have visited it often. :)

Just what I expected. Back to the days of 'We invented zero.. we invented..this & that'. Sir, could you please list out any modern day inventions from our side? Some body makes a train locomotive, or a plane our reply "oh..yeah, we thought of planes 2000 years back". I am all in favour of the age old glories, but some thing other than that? And don't tell me that every thing was cool in India, before the arrival of colonists (UK, Netherlands,France etc.).

We are today leaders in many fields, because of our mastery over English Language. Macaulay might have initially thought that by teaching us English we would be made good clerks. But now that actually helped us get our seat in the world. Good god, that we did not go forward with the "Hindi as the national language" scheme after Independence. We would be no-where now. If every thing was cool in India, how did British conquer us pal? Let us not forget history.

Sorry to see this beautiful piece on Youtube going down with flame baiting and rude comments. Let us stick to the music and the drill. And let us also learn to accept simple facts like this sort of a drill and music was popularised in India by the British. The concepts like Regiments, regimental tradition and culture it was introduced by British. No use in chest thumping and negating what has happened.

Please rest assured that the minority (more than likely dreamers) really do spoil it & do NOT represent the genuine british military. You know as well as I do....the cream always rises to the top!!!.
All the rude comments are usually from a small minority of numbnuts who have nothing to add except pure jealousy. We do take pity on them though.........they have never really lived!!!

Well, the music, the concept of regiments per se was perhaps introduced by the british in terms of the regiment numbers etc. but the regimental tradition & culture (in what a regiment actually means) & esp. drills were always there historically. I don't think u believe the British taught us how to organize an army & fight, do u? Bcoz that would be laughable. India has had a long military history & sometimes it is better to do a little research of ur own b4 accusing others of chest thumping. :)

I am not denying India's glorious military history etc. etc, but I am yet to find out why this glorious military lost out to the British (and other European colonialists)? The modern day Indian Army (I am not talking about small armies maintained by erst-while kings) is heavily influenced by British Army systems, as it was they who organised a modern day Indian Army. Any ways, enjoy the music and you can add some videos of armies in Indian sub-continent before the British :)

Well, u r obviously not british...so I am a little perplexed as to why u can't fathom how the British came to rule us. The military past has nothing to do with it. On their own, the Rajputs (if united!), the Sikhs, the Marathas & the Gurkhas by themselves were more than a match for any army in the world but they never did fight as one united front against the British or for that matter any foreign invader. The rajputs fought against the SIkhs in the anglo-sikh wars, this is one small example. :)

bec at that time Indian was't a proper country .dis't had a Regular Army .BUt you can't match Indian Sold in Bravery .Itly Liberated due to Indian Army Fought in 3 continents.Hitler ones said give me Indian Sold I 'll conquer the world

The Britian conquared India when there were waring with each other. British empire use divide and conquer. East India company had a lot more Indian soldiers the European. So we fought each other for another ruler..
