I remember listening to KOMA radio in Oklahoma City when we were transporting one of drag cars to a race somewhere and we had to drive all night..what I wouldn't give for those days...
My Dad died in 1995. I was born in 1971 years after this song came out. When he passed away and I was distraught this song came into my head. I guess I had raindrops falling from my eyes, but then I had to go buy the CD. When I hear this song it takes me back to 1995 driving in the rain right after he passed with this song in my head. Now it's a sad, but sweet memory... Funny how music can do that to you....
Lost my virginity on a picnic table in Highland Park, Mi when this song came out....and yes, it was raining. I've always loved this song and always will. What a voice he had.
I grew up in this era and loved this song. You did real good. Loved your presentation to accompany the music and adding the lyrics in this case was in my opinion very appropriate. Two thumbs up from an old rock-n-roll dude.
listen to the string solo at 1:36--- 1:55...thats so pretty, yet so sad...love this song....i remember listening to it when i wasi about 5,6. or 7.....56 yrs old now
i will never grow up dad you and your wife cut me down for playing my songs my songs made me happy and dad iam 63 years old now and still love to hear all my old songs i feel young again no one can take that away from me and thanks to youtube i can hear a song that i have not heard in 50 years and i can still sing along with the song after all this time
@geeneyes61 ...My Mom never allowed me to play 'any' of 'my' music, period. And I just turned 62, and YouTube is also helping me to recapture and enjoy all the favorites I never got to listen to. Just on the school bus did I ever hear music that I loved. And no one can take these away from me, either. Thanks for posting your story similar to mine. ~Dialynn44~
i'm 20 and tomcat i agree. too many kids our age have very bad taste it music. new music is GARBAGE.. compared to the old classics, of any genre. You actually needed talent back then to make it xD
Love this song and video.
