  • is it true you cant wear a cup in WKF kumite?

  • @DrPain2008 The rules say "Groin Guards are not mandatory but if worn must be of approved WKF type"

so you can wear it if you want but it must be the approved model ones.

  • beautiful match, and for those who dont like to see the fight for points

    please serach seidokaikan karate,

there are two types of fighting, one for points and other one is only for knockouts!

  • wow, u call this a martial art?

  • @cclshinty first off you idiot... the guy commenting is Olympic medalist in TKD. What have you done? If you were a real MA or Karateka. You would know its only for sport. Machida is an example of that. So why dont you crawl back to your computer screen and learn some respect. If you think its a fight for real then you need to get a new teacher.

  • awesome really...waiting for my turn now.. ;)

  • Rapidísimo el Irani!

  • So unrealistic...

Karate is not a martial art anymore.

  • @tiochel Kyokushin is still a martial art!

  • @RocketRodden Nailed it, dude!

    OSS!

  • Comment removed

  • @tiochel There are different styles of Karate and kumite. This is sport Karate. But if you want realism check out knockdown Karate (like Kyokushin) which is full contact and without protective equipment, like on this video: type "This is Knockdown karate" in the search bar and watch the first video.

  • @tayksy I've trained Kyokushin and I do train Shotokan nowadays. I am mourning the martial art's death, actually.

I do'nt find Kyokushin a perfect martial art. They don't use the kime nor maai. I really believe the real karate lies somewhere between Shotokan and Kyokushin.

    Thanks for the advice though.

    OSS! (OSU if from Oyama).

  • @tiochel No martial art is perfect, they all have pros and cons.It is not dictated that you can't use maai or kime in Kyokushin, it's up to the fighter to decide if they want to use kime or not and also what distance from the opponent to fight. That's also why a lot of Kyokushin tournaments are "open" where other styles can compete in (and using the distance and technics they want as long as it respects the rules).

And also some Kyokushin dojos do use gloves to practice head punches.

  • Wow, nice fight!!!

  • Beautiful match.

Can't blame the commentator though, some actions are quite hard to see at their speed and angle.

  • GLORIFIED TAG!!!

  • Yup jasem is the best karate player after pinna

  • Eyval eyvale jaseme ma yale

  • i like this

  • its called learning to control your techniques

  • ::sigh::

wtf happened to shotokan karate... this is worse than NASKA rules. At least in NASKA they let you rumble, even if it's flashy. This is all just glorified tag.

  • then you need to look up JKA kumite on youtube and understand that this is just sport... not fighting

  • this is the video with the most views for a wkf video... wtf...

  • I think these guys bounce a little too much straight up and down... A really quick dude may have sweeped them on their way down...

Shouldn't they try to bounce a little more... Unpredictable?

  • i agree. there is no rhythm to their bouncing, no back and forth, its too straight up and down. too much of a waste of energy and its too hard to spring forwards or back when bouncing up and down

  • @rattus2025 wrong, you use the momentum to shoot forward or backwards off the bounce. This was the world finals! They know what they're doing

  • wat ur saying is true, that is exactly wat the bounce is used for, the fighter's bounce is also meant to flow back and forth, side-side, not straight up and down.; i dont doubt they kno wat theyre doing, i do doubt that they dont make mistakes tho

  • @rattus2025 the "bounce" goes up down, back and forth, side to side, any where they want. A cagy fight, (usually a final) there's less movement as both fighters don't want to over commit. If you saw these fighters in the knockouts against lesser opponents they'd be alot more committed with more exagerated movement.

  • Why on karate videos, people don't talk about the fight itself ? There are forums for stereotypical debates on which martial art is the best, or that kind of shitty talks.

Anyway, great fight, we see here the spanish one lost his means, the fight was over after the sambon.

  • vive la jka

  • who is red ?

  • Gasem Vishgahi from IRAN. one of the best...

  • Perhaps I can clarify this comment a little:

Excessive bouncing is superfluous motion that may feel like it is useful, but may not be. Staying light on the feet is good, but bouncing for the sake of bouncing up and down is not always your best choice. When I teach, I teach students to stay on their toes a bit but also to know when and how to root their stance as well. The same movements over and over, simply telegraph out intent. Rooting too much is also a problem. Do what works for you.

  • Regarding the bouncing....this is just so much wasted motion which slows down your ability to react, but if they like to bounce, let em bounce.

  • Is that why boxers bounce? To waste energy? It's to remain light on your feet, engaged, active, and to disguise your attack. If you stand still, flat-footed, then as soon as you move, the opponent knows your attacking. Ali bounced. Bruce Lee bounced. But I guess you know more than THOSE idiots...

  • I do see where you're coming from but Ali did bounce and it worked for him. It all depends on what your comfortable doing.

  • I think Ali did more than the bouncing we see in some karate tournaments. His footwork was very skilled and it was not up and down as we sometimes see.....it was brilliant footwork though, as was Sugar Ray Leonard's...Watch them both on video and compare with some of these karate boys....there is a difference.

  • try not bouncing in karate. well w.k.f karate.

btw, the first score i rekon didnt actually score. does anybody agree?

  • lol the commentator really sucks hard ..

  • If you want to see a great fight watch Lyoto Machida fight Rashad Evans at UFC 98. He is now the light heavyweight champ and he uses predominately Karate. Whether you like MMA or not this fight is worth watching.....believe me.

  • He is not only great but he does not waste motion, he simply goes right in and does his job.

  • ya coz it's easy :D.. Ao sucks .. is lame .. has no idea what karate means .. amateur .. begginer .. knows nothing .. ya i think you got it :D.. simply sucks !

  • This commentator is a wank. At 2:45 he even got the score wrong....And at 2:57 a 'reverse round-house kick'?? Thats the first time i've ever heard it been called that. Good fight tho. Blue could have done better, he wasn't controlling most of his moves....

  • well since mawashi geri = roundhouse kick and ura means reverse it's pretty logical if you think about it

  • the commentator have no idea of the fight :D l2p

  • this commentator is awful

  • They are dancing lol

  • this was a really good fight! but there is too much bouncing, with there distance they were fighting at it should have been more reactive, more, Static, Blue, didnt fight too well, he should have on and off pressure, and set up his tequniques, over all it was nice to watch :)

  • the bouncing made it good...without it ..Modami Of IRAN cant jump rite infornt of Sanatana ESP face...to score...

  • im sorry but. i usued to do shotokan. and all i got to say is. sport karate is soooo fucking gay. i love karate. i think its one of the best STREET defenses but this shit is stupid. bouncing up and down. man only sport karate that is good is good ol no pads kyokushin. but bouncing up and down. it looks retarded. maybe a little hop here and trhere but pogo sticking..

  • ahhaah u stupid fkk..u never tried..this..bouncing..like in boxing.. u must move around like Bruce lee..to jump IN the last second before retad from kyokushinkai..can react.we WKF are way too fast like u morons..Kyokushinkai biatch.,..!!!! try me..

  • first off your language. BIATCH!!! and dumb fuck. you think your hard or someshit. you sound like a karate fanboy rather than a martial artist, try you. you think people are scared of you behind your computer acting like a nerd? stfu kid

  • Totally agree. This isn't karate. Did you hear the list of things they COULDN'T do? No wonder they was bouncing. It's all they had left to do.

  • nobody REQUIRES them to bounce there's a reason why people bounce in the different kinds of point competitions, mr. martial artist guy

  • well instead of just pointing it out. how bout explain why. theres no need. just throw a kick or so. no need for hoping up and down like a tard. ive been in competition and havent seen that crap but once... when i boxed they wernt weaving about with no one throwin punches. so theres no need

  • Well first of all you're alot more mobile, making it easier to sidestep or retreat. Second, the fight is being held in mid-distance, so in order to reach your opponent with a technique you have to step in. If you're static it's a lot easier to block it compared to bouncing, because when your opponent bounces you don't notice the step-in as much as you would if he was static. There are also other reasons but these are the main.

  • thank you sir for taking the time explaining that instead of trash talkin like someone else did a while ago. i agree with some of what you said. some i dont. thanks

  • LOL. man, i love your user name! that bit was so wheels off ! "Don't tase me, bro!!!" lol

  • You have no idea what you're talking about. See my response to Ronin6575 as to why.

  • No you do not as long as u make it out of qualifiers (national championships)

  • do u hav to be a black belt in order to compete in WKF ?? or by skills

  • no there are different categories i think it's 9th KYU to 3rd KYU then 3rd to 1DAN and up

  • awful commentating.

  • jassim v fro m iran and the guy from spain jassim is up normal

  • hi im from the wkf (welsh karate federation) who were the fighters?

  • Players? lol

  • hi , I am from the KKF , from the Kosovo Karate Federation.! the fight is amazing , but Santana was'nt clever!

  • The commentator should stfu...he comes to his own conclusions... conclusions which are mostly wrong...

  • I feel sorry for the Blue; I thought he got a punch to the face. That would suck to go 8-0. Aw well, he tried.

  • Amazing video, you got anymore? Preferably with a decent commentator though..

  • i dont think the commentators have alot of experience with ippon kumite.

anyone here in the AKF? (australian karate federation)?

  • hi.. im from mkf.. malaysia karate federation..

  • i occassionally fight there

  • Agreed

  • great fight...

  • Great fight, congratulations!!

  • so thanks bro

    its nice

  • thanks bro

    it so nice

  • Wow! Jst too amazing! great technique, perfect timing and SPEED!

  • omg, the commentry, its just horrible... He has their names around the wrong way for the first half.

Pay attention to the ref though. He's awesome, he is the only one who spotted ao's score at the beginning :)

  • This announcer is horrible. WKF needs to improve their presentation of competition kumite if they're to get olympic sport status. The talent of athletes is at that level so should the adminstrative body.

  • after quitting karate when I was 21 I began training in Brazillian jiu jitsu, boxing and mixed martial arts. I have the utmost respect for karate however I must say that I would never put my faith in it in a street fight ever!

  • lol why are you guys argueing... why dont you do wat the people in the video are doing TRAINING

  • I hate the commentary on Eurosport for karate lol :D

  • Ditto. You guys need to get off your arses and do something more productive with your time than act all macho on youtube for fuck sake.

  • I agree, what the hell is the point of leaving negitive comments? make ya feel big about yaself? huh?

And what some of you people are forgeting is, yes this is sport karate, but all of them are still black belts and have worked extrodinarly hard to get to this point, so lay off, you arrogent pricks.

  • Stop arguing all of you for gods sake... (This is 'xtanya2007x' but I can't get back on my other account)... I do Karate, and whether it's fucking 'sportified' or not, who gives two flying fucks? I can defend myself in the street and that's all that matters to me! Argh omg, and just how the fuck can it be sportified? FFS, grow up, Karate is Karate and will always be an art doesn't matter how it's performed.

  • 00RV00, grow up....... and think before you open your mouth.

  • Man, in all sports you have mental and spirit skills. You don't imagine the hardest of train your techniques for hit like swords in street and to hit with control and precision when you feel the pressure in an important tournament. You must be furious and controlled, you need attitude and a great spirit. You don´t know.

  • LoL. These guys are world championships finalists and you are? Right, you're an average joe who has never stood on a competition mat.

Those shoes aren't even shoes. It's protection for the opper part of your feet because many competioners, including me :), have this nasty habit of blocking a mawashi with an elbow. That happening can mean the difference between a win and a loss.

  • you've never been involved in a sports karate fight have you? i tell you that the 50% of it is about having a strong mind to show no fear, control of the situation and never give up. the mind is the most important weapon you have to break you oponent.

  • OH By the way I'm off to the canadian championships to compete among some of the best in the country! even that takes alot of effort so i can't imagine the time it takes to get to the finals in worlds.

  • First off, this video kicks so much ass. Second off, why the hell would you say something about a sport that you obviously know nothing about, it is a true art and years of blood sweat and tears must go into the sport to become something great. The ignorance of some people makes me pity them for all their worth.

  • karateka of the year, haha. sportafied karate what a joke. no focus, no technic. just bounceing round crap!! should call yourselfs dancers!! thanks for the laugh it was great.

  • whateever bro too bad all that bouncing and around is harder than it looks and i guess ur mad cuz ur not that good, timing, distance, technique, and focus are all part of it and all those can lead into some killer street fighting because of the acceleration and hand speed they have due to training for kumite, and no one martial art is better than the other they all have their goods and bads.

  • winning 8-0 in the final of wkf isnt easy my friend

  • what the hec do you know about it? focus and technic are the some of the main components of kumite, i'd like to see you fight the winner!

  • i meant to write technique obviously haha and that was to 'liamjka'

  • nowories xtanya2007x, serious i'd b proud to show you how real karate is performd, traditional not sportafied like you are obvisly in love with but hey thats alrite just the difference between people. so if you can organise it drop me a line at liambloodycurrey at hotmail love to hear from you thanks mate

  • wtf is 'sportified' karate? karate is karate 'mate'

  • that what u see in the video is sportified karate...thats not for defending yourself...it became a sport not an art...

  • In sport karate a nukmber of practised techniques are forbidden because of thier dangerous nature, such as elbow and open hand techniques. While these techniques are practised in all karate styles they do not exemplify a sporting attitude or allow for healthy competition thats the difference, its straightforward

  • Jasem Vishgahi went on to win gold at Asian games 2006 and is currently Asian karateka of the year .He has great technique and attitude ,a true champion !

  • does one of them train with farzad? i`m sure i recognise him from CKC.

  • statementz,

Although the bounces are high, check the match again. You can see how quickly he can "jolt" to set his techniques... winning by 8 is unheared of in WKF championships.

  • I think the Iranian has great technique but I'm really disappointed by the announcers. With these two commentators, they should have waited a day before broadcasting.

  • The Iranian guy bounces too high every few bounces. The Spanish guy should have swept him. Good victory, though.

  • That commentator dos not know what hes talkin about!-great fighting though

  • This is the worse commentary u can get, embrassing.

  • ya its pretty bad, like he calls it a shiromiwashigari (dont noe how to spell it) a reverse roundhouse kick

  • the iranian has a really ugly fighting style

  • still got him the championship title though

  • great victory

  • The commentary is so poor in these videos
