When is GM gonna release the official specs and the engines? R&T says the base engine will have a 3.5 V6 with 220hp, but I don't believe it. that would be way too underpowered for a G8's heavy platform.
you can find it in motortrend online. There are two v6's: the base one, and the Direct Injection 306 hp V6 they will use for the camaro rs (which is the car I wanna get next year). Of course they are gonna have a 400+hp beast V8 engine in the ss. The RS V6 sounds most appealing to me since gas prices are so high, and Camaro V6's are very easy to modify and tune:)

I agree, the Challenger is off the chain, beautiful and I like the mustang, I saw the convertable camaro at the minneapolis auto show yesterday, it looked terrible, the guage cluster looks cheezy, the grill points out too far and the body style around the rear wheels doesn't look good with the convert, the hardtop could be a different story though...
I heard their gonna make the trans am and if they do its going to outsell the camaro. They've been showing the camaro for what 3 or 4 years now yet it still doesn't come out until next year.
in my opinion they need to get rid of some of the chrome of the inside, it just doesn't look very realistic to me, but i'm still in love with the car!

i think the car looks alright, but definately not in silver. the interior is a little too modern for when it's coming out. the huge rims would look bette if they didn't look like freakin plastic. the exhaust sounds excellent. the base horsepower is good, but for being the 2009 concept i think other cars will put it to rest. there are already cars in base production that come close to that power. and lastly, for those of you who have been cutting on mustangs on here, to each their own.

call me crazy but I think the guys from Cadillac helped design this camaro. The coupe sort of has a resemblence to the XLR. I've heard that the production model can go a top speed of 180, handle like a CTS-V, and get 400hp and 30mpg highway with active fuel management. If this thing could do all that, then that hoe will defintely be in my driveway. I agree with decodedmovies, silver is not a good color for it. I prefer the convertible.

i think the car looks alright, but definately not in silver. the interior is a little too modern for when it's coming out. the huge rims would look bette if they didn't look like freakin plastic. the exhaust sounds excellent. the base horsepower is good, but for being the 2009 concept i think other cars will put it to rest. there are already cars in base production that come close to that power. and lastly, for those of you who have been cutting on mustangs on here, to each their own.

I disagree tho, the interior dose not look futuristic at all. If anything it looks futuristic out side, and to retro inside.I DO agree about the rims. It's been rumored that stock won't even come with rims that big. But I guess its like you said at the end of your comment,"to each their own." I'm planning to get one next year, and will be very happy when I do.

GM neglected the car and it went right down the drain. I give it a few years and they will be discontinuing it again. They are making the same mistake again, Corvette and Camro are too similar.

You are full of shit. Do your research and you'll find that the Camaro was always the "poorman's" Corvette. All power and performance will always lead to a Corvette as #1, but this is by far a Mustang killer. And at 10,000 less than Corvette, the most affordable horsepwer available.

I don't know why Camaros have been compared to Mustangs so much since 1993. Corvettes aren't campared to Mustangs so why should camaros since they have the same engine. GM talks a lot of shit about mustangs but at the same time, the sucess of mustang is so much higher than Camaro it is insane.

ok call bullshit you obviously know nothing, ill still be making power at the top end of my first gear while you are powering down while shifting into second, it has nothing to do with the actual shifting dumb ass its the length of the gear a 4 speed auto is longer than a six speed. the same principal as a tremic 2 speed. two gears are longer than 4, less shifting, less power lost doing so. so come correct dude before you call bullshit.

I've owned mustangs for over 20 years and have 2 1967 mustang fastbacks, an S code and a C code. I would take them any day of the week over a 69 Camaro. With the new Mustang and the new Camaro side by side, I would take the new Camaro over the Mustang.

call me crazy but I think the guys from Cadillac helped design this camaro. The coupe sort of has a resemblence to the XLR. I've heard that the production model can go a top speed of 180, handle like a CTS-V, and get 400hp and 30mpg highway with active fuel management. If this thing could do all that, then that hoe will defintely be in my driveway. I agree with decodedmovies, silver is not a good color for it. I prefer the convertible.

While I think they need to make the grill a bit more attractive, this is a beautiful car. This one has has LS2, but by the time this car comes out, the LS3 will be out (with active fuel management btw).
If GM can put giant glass moon roofs in, then they should have T-tops again though

no it can go over 40 but they do not want to risk it. and what i wonder is, what the top speed is. BECAUSE this engine on the new corvette 6 liter(not 7 liter) can take it up to 180 something and if this new camaro did that, then this is definitely going to be in my driveway
