  • Someone all the fire department, this place is burning down. :-)

  • Wow, Dennis Chambers is just killing it on this!

  • another unfortunate loss gone too early....

  • I love this tune. Thanks to Stern for writing such an awesome piece of music.

  • Fuuck, this is so good.

  • can this just go on forever?

  • Disliking this video is just like disliking your mother.

  • @SpomenkoJabucar Really, I love my mother but don't care for this. Bob Berg is what I call a "technician" rather than a real musician. Real musicians play to move everyone with their craft, not just to impress other jazz technicians(and perhaps themselves--for this is a very egocentric type of music here) with their speed and facility on an instrument.

  • @saxophile1 Would you be satisfied if I brought Michael Brecker into game? Not a huge fan of Berg myself, but this track itself is an amazing piece of music, you gotta agree. But I see what you mean.

  • @saxophile1 it's very hard to create music that can move everybody. we all have different tastes in music. and i do moved by this piece of music so much.

  • @saxophile1 YOUR COMMAND OF JABBERWOCKY & GOBBLEDYGOOK IS BOUNDLESS; LIKE NOTHING I'VE SEEN B4! IF YOU KNEW WHAT THE FUCK YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT WOULD BE AMAZING!

  • my guiar teacher enlightent me to this epicness!

  • The intro sax solo is just amazing, try transcribing it to your main instrument, you'll see how interesting it is.

  • possibly the best song i have ever got stuck in my head

  • The sax at the start is just dirty.

  • mike stern is playing with my highschool jazz band in a month

  • Just 4 ppl and such a big sound ... I call it the 'Jazz Police'!

  • @madgriffith

This is from the album "time in place"

  • hi guys, what type of sax is playing Bob? Is it a tenor type sax? Byez

  • @giangiuan Tenor, right

  • Mike stern grandioso. Il più bel suono distorto degli ultimi 20 anni.

  • anyone know a website with sheet music for the tenor solo at 2:23 ?

  • theres no way this is actually happenning. way too good. it must be prerecorded. if not these two are robots.

  • theres no way this is actually happen. way too good. it must be prerecorded. if not these two are robots.

  • VERY GOOD..!

  • ONE M0:00REEEEEEE TIMEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

  • dajeeeeee

  • Hands down, Lincoln Goines and Jeff Andrews both owned the bass chair in the Mike Stern band! No Tricks or speed licks compare to their rock solid approach...

  • @Misterantinoodle

Jeff Andrews was the best bassplayer I ever heard with Stern... :)

  • @steffenbrix

L.Goines is good only in the section :)

  • @steffenbrix Richard bona also played with stern ;)

  • @steffenbrix where do you leave Richard Bona?

  • @mondoinc

Not in the top 5....but he's a great player of course :)

  • @steffenbrix Other than Tom Kennedy, of course!

  • @smak609...I hope you are kidding! Don't compare Weckl with Chambers!

  • Great tune,..The drumer is Dennis Chambers....the most volcanic drummer of all time..

  • very super-strog quartet!!!!!!!!!grande MikeStern ,pper non parlare poidi Bob berg(R.I.P.),fortissima sezione ritmica and very beatiful song.

  • There is just no break to it. That Bob Berg Hero just keeps blowing into his sax untill he has no breath anymore and forces it out and just blows the roof of! AMAZING

  • 13 people listen to kenny G

  • @Tenorsaurus true dat

  • RIP BOB BERG

  • Saw this band in Innsbruck in the autumn of that year...wonderful memory! Twenty years ago and I remember about everything they played. Some of my favorite guys.

  • @ 2:07 he totally missed the octave! took him a second to get up there haha

  • why...just why

  • @LOLOKAKASOSO i think 13 are...

  • Back in the day!

  • Mike Stern - guitar

    Bob Berg - Tenor Sax

    Lincoln Goines - E. Bass

    Dennis Chambers - Drums

  • @r3ck0rd Dont get lineups as good as that these days. except for mabye Josh redman, Brian Blade and brad mehldau.

  • @ICEMAN6282 I dunno: Chris Potter, Jason Moran, Eric Harland and Larry Grenadier subbing for Dave Holland Last week at Birdland was pretty sick!

  • @ICEMAN6282 This is awesome, but I dunno: Chris Potter, Jason Moran, Eric Harland and Larry Grenadier (subbing for Dave Holland) last week at Birdland was pretty sick too...

  • @tuckerantell Yeah true i was generalising. That would have been an awesome gig. I wish i lived in New York for the music scene.

  • quel pied!! génial!

  • No problem unfaOO! I probably should have made it clear that I love her visuals. Her music certainly ain't much but, as a jazz musician myself, I've played Bad Romance live a few times, taking it outside, driving it hard and the audience love it, because we all too often don't play enough contemporary tunes, the way Miles and many others always did. THIS PERFORMANCE BURNS MIGHTILY!!! Utter brilliance.

  • Going to see mike stern band in st louis in 2 days!!!

  • YEAHHH! FUNKY

  • the drummer is Dennis Chambers - i could tell before I even saw him - the drummer on the studio version was Peter Erskine

  • the drummer is Dennis Chambers - i could tell before I even saw him

  • I'm a Lady Ga Ga fan and I dig this. Seriously hard-driving chunky FUNK! Incendiary.

    Hot hot hot.

  • @mjramsden13 Sorry for thinking that Lady Ga Ga (Gaga?) fans are not going to like this... I respect you dude :D Cheers!

  • Just saw Mike Stern two days ago...it was an awsome concert!

  • This is the best version of Chromazone i've heard. Bob Berg is great but his style look like to Michael Brecker's one with less speed.

  • Rip Bob Berg

  • r.i.p bob berg legendary tenor saxaphonist

  • @Assmonkeh123 what happened to Bob Berg? i didn't hear that he was dead.

  • @ianzcarson He died in a car accident picking up some groceries, hope he's resting in peace

  • @ianzcarson car accident before shopping groceries with his wife.

  • r.i.p bob berg

  • mike stern got a fukin kick-ass drummer every time......lolz

  • That was incredible

  • with Chambers on drums

  • Man what a classic tenor/guitar duo! What a great tenorist of his time.

  • Smoking!! New york City jazz @ its best!!!!

  • i just had a chromasm :)

  • @ms009WW

Bob Berg is famous for taking simple stuff and making it awesome. I'm not sure about this song, but I heard it's actually mostly in C.

Of course, it's a bit much for me to actually try and deduce it by listening. I'm not that pro yet. 0_0

  • @Draugmoth The head is a lot of chromatic stuff centered around Bb, and then the B section part is C#m pentatonics/blues with chromaticism as well. It's written in C but that's just to avoid confusing people haha

  • you gotta love that sax!!!!

  • Lively performance, i haven't explored Mike Stern unfortunately but i will do now;

  • i don't understand how 13 says don´t like this????? mmm maybe this 13 persons only listen the toilet noise before crap and when they listen music that sound is not good for his hears.

  • @Pintoart haha.. word

  • Does any one of you jazz musicians know what scales are used here? I mean probably every existing scale, much chromaticism and simetric stuff but do you recongnise enything specifically in terms of 'playing outside'?

  • Absolutely great fuckin' saxophone solo!!!

  • @nerdsound 00:25 E G Ab F E Eb Gb F D Bb Ab D Db Bb Ab (concert pitch)

  • @LavenganzadeCtulhu10 ...are Lady Gaga's belivers.

  • @LOLOKAKASOSO The Lady Gaga fan-base, you'll be interested to know, has grown by 4! sorry, 5: i

I didn't include myself... i jest, but isn't it amazing. I mean you can't really get lost on Youtube, and land on something you really really really didn't want to land on. So, one would assume that these fifteen folk are Berg, Stern, Weckl, or fusion-interested bods. It's madness huh?

  • @hahabass madness inddeed

  • One of his best solos Bob Berg

  • 11 people missed the like button caused their balls and head probably exploded.

  • "BURNIN"!!!! Nothing else to say about it :)

  • This is so great...I can't believe Bob and Michael Brecker are both gone.

  • One question, is that Dennis Chambers in thedrums? or who is it?

  • @12Padawan That is Dennis, you can just tell and you can kind off see him in the very last second of the video. Plus he does the classic Dennis lick at the 1:17 mark.

  • @12Padawan I believe it is. Sounds like him at least. He's killin it.

  • @12Padawan yes is Dennis, I believe he also played on the record....monster!!

  • Es una grabación y un tema excelente.

    ¡Me encanta!

    Un beso,

    Elsa

  • what the hell???????????????

  • Nice!!!

  • I've seen that Mike guy last week, he kicked asses, he totally rocked the audience. Randy Brecker and the other guys were also incredible. One of the best gigs of my life!

  • Excellent! Mike kills another ax! Unfuckin' real. Hey, Bob, I'll miss you but at least I got the chance to see and hear you. Thanks, y'all! B.

  • mike stern is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I miss bob berg...

  • 4:50-5:00 is the reason im alive

  • @usetheforce207 thats like the least interesting part of the solo....its just multiphonics

  • I made a big mistake to choose mike stern to study physics...

The song was done while I was trying to add some sort of parts to the song with my guitar.

    Omg!!!

  • INCREDIBLE!!!! This guy is such a genius!!!!

  • eeeeeeeaaaaaaaa

what is Stern doing at 08:08?????????
