i also own this 12", but gotta admit that the album version's beat is just a lot better than the "funky" version on the 12"... to be honest, the album version fits the lyric content perfectly. brings out that menace as sb has mentioned before..
btw, chino got 2 new projects coming out this year hopefully.. 1st one called RICANstruction with a collabo with Pun (!) and the 2nd one called The Secret!
I'm glad Quincy did not clear this budget version, as it would not have fit the refined abstraction on the commericail release... I guess things happen for a reason.
thanks for this. it was interesting to hear, but i think the album version has more menace, and hence it fits well as an opener (or is it track 2? i cant remember) on here to save you all.
i prefer the LP version also... the whole LP was great !! or beter say IS great !!

Maybe it was that line talkin about turning out more sweet proteges than Quincy Jones. Could that have been what made Quincy deny sample clearance??
but yeah the original ain't sxxt compared to the album version. Do you know how many times I looped & f-styled over that beat?!?!?

um, that Quincy Jones line was from "I Told You So", which was 5 years after "Deliver" joint.

The commercial is the best. But it's allready on the net. In a album called "Purple hands" (Bootleg). But i agree, he is jesus!

That would be illegal (as well as against my personal ethics)... but do some diggin' and you can find the record, and it's usually not too ezpensive.
And if this gets enough buzz, they might even give it a proper release one of these days.

no doubt. well id have to drive at least two hours to get to a decent record store. maybe i can buy it online somewhere.
peace

Yeah, I agree about the menace of the album version... I prefer this mix, but both are definitely worthwhile.

ahh yes, they used to actually play that on the wakeup show...
