@TheGazdik valve springs would be a must..but other than that you really don't NEED anything else per say, given you have adequate spark and fuel delivery.
American Muscle is where its at. Back when GM and Mopar were decent companies. Now days you couldn't pay me to get one. My dream cars are: Eleanor (from "Gone in 60sec"), a 1965 Mustang, 1969 Camaro SS, and a '68 RS.
Amazing Camaro I'm sure you got a lot of time getting this ride as cherry as it is. It is beautifully done. Glad to see our Thumpr Cams in action! Great video.
@MrShortbed83 No. I talked to summit and they recommended the thumper cam for my vette for driving/street racing. It was also the best cam recommended to me for the automatics which is what I have. I am currently putting my cam in so ill be doing lots of driving with it in a few days it should be great : )
Sounds good, etc. But the thing I want to know - why do people cover up their license plates? I mean, it's uncovered when you're on the road / parked at the grocery store / etc, and those people can actually follow you home + see your face. It's not a secret. What could I *possibly* do by knowing your license plate number?
@vertrider75 Think about that for a second. :) Your license plate is viewable in public every time you take your car out of the garage. If it was sensitive information, then it would be a bad idea to have it on the back (and, in most states, the front) of your car. If you pay enough, you can get a mailing address (mine's a PO Box), a name, a phone number (all in the phone book), and info about the car and driver's record. Not a huge deal, and the same risk as just driving to the store...
You're at 36K views, which is respectable - but also a fairly small town. Only 314 people live in my town, though, so I suppose I'll accept that argument. ;)
It works really well with my 4 speed setup. They make a lot of power, however i would not recommend running this cam in a automatic without a high stall converter.
A higher stall converter allows the engine to rev up more before it engages the transmission. A stock stall engages the trans below the thumpr cam's power range. If you leave your stall stock you will notice that the car is very sluggish until you rev it up a bit. A factory cam with a factory stall is designed for daily stop and go driving, the power band is low in the RPM range. Good power down low means a loss of power up top. A manual car makes it easy to deal with a bigger cam:)
@cmcamaro96 do u think it would cause any damage or really bad wear to the engine if i was to put it in a daily driver?cause i heard its a pretty big cam
That definitely sounds nice! I am running a 1969 camaro ss 350 with the HO 350 crate motor that has an honest 350hp and was wondering what all did you have to do for your current setup and what is the part number for the thumper cam you have? Thanks
I just got the Mutha Thumpr Cam in my ss 69 last night. Shit, the sound and power gains are amazing. This video inspired to get the cam asap! thanks man
Thats great! Have fun, It's nice to know my car inspires people, I've worked hard on it! Post a video so I can check out your 69. What type of cam were you running before?
Man thats a bad ass camaro dawg. How does that cam perform. Does it perform like it sounds? If it does thats whats up. Nice car im thinking about that same kind of camshaft.
Low vacuum at idle, I have a 4 speed so its easy to keep the rpm's up when coming to a stop with power breaks. Would definitely need a high stall with an auto trans. I enjoy driving it, some might think it would be a challenge to drive.

@cmcamaro96 why is the high stall conv so important with this cam? it says on the sight to at least have a 2500 but what if you dont?

Does this cam have any negative effect on vaccume? Does it mess with power brakes and stuff?
GMdrivingMOPARguy 1 year ago
It does lower vacuum at idle. However, if you bump the idle up a bit, you shouldn't have a problem.

lucasmudbog05 1 year ago 6
That's pretty sweet alright!
I've got a 454 in a 1966 GMC with a similar-sounding lope, (Comp XE 284H) and those Flowmaster 40's have the exhaust note that I'm looking for, too.
beeser99 1 year ago
I also forgot to mention that I'm going to be running a hydroboost brake system (runs off of P/S pump) so I won't have to worry about vacuum.

where did you set your initial timing at? i have same cam and having issues trying to set it properly.
68stang73 1 year ago
I have it set around 12 degrees BTC
cmcamaro96 1 year ago
heard those actually hurt the performance of the car AKA vaccuum, and HP. I would rather have something that sounds and adds HP. Nice car though :)
gcravillion 2 years ago
It will lower your idle vacuum some. Definitely makes more power though!

ow much vacuum you get outta that cam? and braking issues?
ddragon63 2 years ago
Haven't put a vacuum gauge on it yet, its probably pretty low, The brakes work pretty well though. I have since bumped the idle up a little bit.
cmcamaro96 2 years ago
It's running about 6 PSI at idle, fairly low

cmcamaro96 2 years ago
what kinda vacuum does the thumpr pull at idle? is it streetable?
jake17201 2 years ago
Low vacuum at idle, I have a 4 speed so its easy to keep the rpm's up when coming to a stop with power breaks. Would definitely need a high stall with an auto trans. I enjoy driving it, some might think it would be a challenge to drive.
