  • One of the most beautifuf jobs ever done with this gret song.

  • I so love this song

  • BEAUTIFULLY SONG. LOVE IT

  • Ohh...How Can l Forget This Beautiful Red-River-Valley Music, Come And Sit By My Side If You Love Me Do Not Hasten To Bid Me.....! My High School//Collage Time Favorite And Used To Sing It In Concerts! Just Loved It Alway & Forever...!

  • never heard this song before ,cant stop listen to it , great song by two great singer

  • sacré voix

c est une tres jolie musique dommage que je ne connais que la langue francaise

    un grand bravo au groupe

  • I mostly listen to opera and usually don't like country, why do I like this?! XD

  • @raigekimaru Because it is melodic excellence, which I find in most genres - of course Rap is excluded because it has no melody.

  • classic beauty of the soul's longing

  • When I first heard this on the Chris Issak show I was absolutley blown away. My brother and I who is now deceased use to do this song together; I cant tell you the memories this brought back. Without a doubt the finest version of this song I have ever heard. Wish it was on a CD. Finding musicians and singers today that understand tone and song structure and phrasing is rare. These two nailed it.

  • @nodnoc52 Search Google for "How to Record Speaker Sounds in Windows 7"

(I can't give you the link because YouTube does not accept links in the comment field.) This will guide you through adjusting Windows 7 so you can record the song while you are playing it. It is very easy to do, and then at least you will be able to play it without going to YouTube. When you click to "stop recording", the "save" dialog will pop up and you can name the file and choose where you want it stored.

  • Who are the girl background singers? They look familiar.

  • You say 60 years old? Get out! Stevie is not a day above 40!

  • I love it because it is a oldie. Chris and Stevie do a good job on this one.

  • @kaylamullins06 No such thing. Music is timeless.

  • really beautiful... almost all singers seem to end up in the country camp! That's ok with us..Gram Parsons had it right..such a pity he bowed out early.

  • @ethereal5115 just last nite i did listen to Hot Burritos - the compilation from 2ooo - and that is exactly what i thought - too, exactly;

  • My grandfather sings this still...

  • Stevie really showed the country side of her voice in this song. I think her heart was in country all the time. Chirs Isaak is at his best in this song. I understand he is one of the most loved singers by his peers...rightly so. I think he has the most beautiful nose God ever gave any man.

  • I love it when modern artists render old time favorites like this. Yep, this is quite cool.

  • I love this, i could listen to it over and over again they do an amazing job on this song I just love it, so very much the best it has ever been done, I love it!!

  • @appatchee41 Thank you so much! I have to delete so many rude and crude comments, it is very refreshing to get one from someone who can express joy as you have.

  • @SidsCardShop me too, I love this - and ever since I was a child have; so different from Johnny and the Hurricanes or Cas Wilson's take on it - that to me is special, too; pity this not available on cd; btw : they sound so close as if this was only written for the two of them; and is it Waddy on the guitar ? Was he backing up Chris ? Would you know ? Thanks

  • @twangville If you mean the man playing slide guitar to Chris's left, it is Hershel Yatovitz, who has been with him since 1995. Awesome sound, huh?

  • @SidsCardShop like i've said - written for the two of them; thanx for answering - he looks a lot like Waddy

  • @twangville the dude with the long curls and glasses , left to Stevie !!

  • SHOWWWWW DE VOZ STEVIE NICKS

  • I agree this is GREAT..... Reminds me of the playful flirting of Kris & Rita singing Help me make it thru the night. go to it on youtube also

  • My father used to sing me his version of this song when I was a little girl. The lyrics went something like "Just remember a red river valley and a daddy who loves you so true." I thought these were the words to this song for many, many years...

  • coole Stimme

  • A beautiful rendition of one of the most beautiful songs of all time.

  • Stevie....is still a fox...with the voice of an angel

  • poor scouser tommy

    Carter

  • wow*****

  • My mother was from Lockney, TX...just east of Lubbock & Amarillo. Born in 1917 -- She came to California when she was 23 (thank God!) but she used to sing this to me when I was a little girl. could always tell it moved her heart...this is beautiful.

  • I love you sweet D....Daddy doesn't seem to phase you at all.....You're the best always and always will be..xxx

  • peuvent se r habiller madonna lautre gaga a cote de ca .c de la voix de la musique o moins

  • peuvent se r habiller madonna lautre gaga a cote de ca .

  • Very nice song

    Great interpretation

    Thank you for this video

  • Fantastic cover of a classic song...Way to go Stevie..

  • played throughout the grapes of wrath

  • keep coming back and listening to this over and over every few weeks love it

  • There must be some Okie in Stevie Nicks cos I like her version best.

  • Notice that with this song she doesn't NEED backup singers or vocal overdubs or technical games to sound good. She just needs a good band and someone with whom to harmonize.

  • I wish she would do more country, acoustic, or folk-sounding music like this song, Are you mine, Leather/Lace, Storms, etc. I don't like the sometimes overproduced sound of Standback. Ironically, "Rock a little" the album was supposed to explore her country roots and it sounded more produced than anything else. She has a great voice and feel for this material.

  • wow, i only know bout this cuz i read the magic tree house book about the cowboy! :)

  • Great to have you back better than ever in all ways Stevie! Chris, what a man! What a sensational version of this classic-never heard it rendered so well and touching. You two sound so great together-what a fine match! Very proud to be your fan!

  • WONDERFUL ! One's singing voice. Stevie Nicks

  • i wanna sing with chris! forever a fan!

  • my own dear daddy had this as one of his favourites, back in about 1951 when I was but a lad, and it is great to hear Stevie and Chris perform a beautiful Red River Valley. Dad woulda liked it a lot.

  • i have always loved this song and this is the best rendition i have heard in my 60yrs

.not only stevie nicks but the excellent backing

  • The movie Tombstone was the first time I heard this song. Liked it ever since.

  • A song I love, done by real professionals!

  • "And the cowboy who loves you so true" original

  • @mrjamiehorn thats the original and the cowboy who loves you so true.

  • How lomantic ! This reminds me of my junior highschool age. On this melody, I danced with some girl students in an athretic meet. Especially, nostalgic sound of accordion is good!

  • that is very well done they sound good togeather

  • Loved It!

  • chris sings this beutifully but theres better femail vocalist out there would have done a better job at this ,

  • @snoopy 303 matter of opinion .i thought stevie did a great job and chris was just incidental great backing

  • Love how stevie wraps her voice around anothers!

  • I love Stevie Nicks I worked in radio and was backstage at a 1977 Fleetwood Mac concert in Buffalo. Stevie walked by twice where I was with other media guys she was amazingly beautiful and still is today. She has made this old western song one of my favorites...

  • Sid,

Thank you for sharing that. This girl from the foothils of Rutherfordton NC knows a lot about Sunday Dinner. Have had about 12,000 at least. My Daddy is a huge lunch is called dinner and dinner is called supper man. I bet you two would hit it off nicely. In fact, it is quite likely he's watching a black & white western he could recite my memory. That, or The Andy Griffith Show which he raised my brother & I on since rugrats at his feet. I am pretty good, but there is no beating my Daddy.

  • Stevie & Chris, I am blown away. That was tremendous. I have never heard a more special recording of Red River Valley. It was my Pop's favorite song. He was a old country preacher. You would have liked him. He was special himself.

I will be re-listening to this and sharing. Thank you for this recording. It is an official favorite.

    Take good care,

    Jennifer Terry

  • @MsJenniferTerry Thanks, Jennifer. I felt really blessed being able to post this video. It sounds great, looks good, and revives/perpetuates a song from my childhood. I was accustomed to eating Sunday dinner (that's the noon meal in Texas country life) with a country preacher and his family as guests most every week until I graduated from High School and moved away. I'm sure I would have liked your Pop.

  • Comment removed

  • @MsJenniferTerry I think you mean she lost it!

  • THIS A ROMANTIC SONG. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THE RED RIVER VALLEY BUT ANY PLACE WHERE A LOVED ONE IS LEAVING. GREAT VERSION

  • I don't know why she wears gloves but it looks great. I think I may start wearing gloves to bed hahahhaaha Love you Stevie :)

  • muy buena cancion me hace recordar a mi infancia

  • This is wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing!!

  • I hope I age as well as these two have!

  • what a couple..wonder who dries.:}}

  • She can wear whatever she wants: she's Stevie Nicks.

    Just listen.

  • What a beloved song.

  • This is just wonderful! And the lady is over 60?She's lovely,he's handsome and their rendition is beautiful! Thanks for posting!!

  • What year is this he looks much older now?

  • First song I learnt on guitar. That was 30 years ago!

    This version is beautiful!!

  • I'm not sure I'd agree about Stevie's voice. Great song though.

  • I have never heard of Stevie Nicks before but this version of Red River Valley is fabulous, what a great sound. Wonder if she has ever visited us here in Ireland

  • I have never seen anything more beautiful than this, thank you Stevie, thank you Chris

  • Amazing. Love them both!

  • This woman (Fleetwood Mac) has the perfect voice for this contempory folk classic...I mean well when I say this. Her sidekick too, sounds ideal, to make for a perfect pair. This folk classic has so much more depth and meaning when you get the right artist(s) to tackle it. Red River Valley goes down in the history books along with other folk country classics like "You Are My Sunshine', "For Me & My Gal", "Don't Fence Me In" & "Rolling Down the River on a Sunday Afternoon" Thanks 4 postin'

  • WHY DOE'S NT STEVIE RELEASE VERSION OF HER DUESTS PLEASE . ONLY ON .HER CD . PLEASE

  • THIS IS THE BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG I HAE EVER HEARD THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

  • Stevie is an AWESOME singer!!!!

  • thank you for this really stevie & chris ..YES

  • WHO DOES,NT LIKE THIS SONG ?.it,s the amarican song so thank you.

  • Just wondering where can I buy this version, I really like it.

  • stevie nicks has one of the most instantly recognizable voices of all time...whether you like it or hate it. i've always been a fan and when i saw this performance live, i loved it. yes, her voice is harsh these days, but thats what years of singing, smoking, boozing, and just living will get you. her voice is harsh, but still she sounds great and its great to know that such a great singer is willing to perform such a great song. most 'artists' today favor only their own songs.

  • aw i get it now...she rode there on her harley...and kept gloves on to keep hands warm.. simple

  • whats with the gloves..?

  • @pmay222 Just guessing - perhaps a personal fashion statement? If I were a female singer over 60 years old performing before HD cameras, I might work gloves into my fashions to counter hand-on-microphone closeups. I'm not saying she does. Real fans who follow her work closely might have a better answer.

  • @SidsCardShop Where can I buy this track, it's really fab.

  • @PennyandTuppence Sorry, I'm afraid your only hope is to catch it on the Biography TV channel as I did. My policy is not to post videos that I know are for sale.

  • @PennyandTuppence Thanks for posting it and giving me such listening pleasure, keep up the good work.

  • @SidsCardShop Stevie wears gloves quite often. Has for years!!! She also wears boots often as well!!!!

"And the summer became the fall. I was not ready for the winter. It makes no difference at all 'Cause I wear boots all summer long ..." from the song Nightbird. ;) from Stevie Nicks:The Wild Heart Album ;)

  • @SidsCardShop O)verf 60 years old? Are you joking? If she is then I want to know her secret-- she's a good lookin' woman! Great vid BTW, thanks for posting. Great song, great rendition -they duet well.

  • @SidsCardShop her hands are still beautiful just like everything about her. she has only gotten better with age.

  • @SidsCardShop Listen. Don't watch.

  • @SidsCardShop shes just amazingly beautiful her voice is so heartfelt

  • @SidsCardShop Stevie hands are beautiful just like everything else about her

  • @SidsCardShop That's just Stevie!

  • @pmay222

sometimes she wears gloves, sometimes she doesn't. Have seen her 49 times, from the first few rows, received about 10 handshakes during the edge walk. Most recent shows she has worn gloves during edge, for whatever reason...could be germs, could be fashion, could be keeping her hands as soft as silk, could be nothing......just the fact that she is half way to 63 and doing better than ever is all we need to discuss...........by far the best of the best

  • @pmay222 stevie has always wore gloves on live performances..where have you been?

  • very good rendition, I liked it a lot :)

  • Yeah, my granddad being from Lawton and my grandmother from San Antone left Oklahoma, and after the drought, in the 20's, they finally left and they picked the fruit in so cal to survive, but they never forgot where they came from, and my father explained and played this song for me, and it stills brings tears to my eyes, only in America.

  • that voice is just amazing

  • this is a wonderful song, my Mom got me the 45rpm about 50 years ago (different artist of course) and was unhappy to find the ballad of Jesse James on the flip side. I loved both songs.

  • I love Stevie Nicks (I'm named after her, actually) and she's done this beautifully. She has such a wonderfully distinctive voice--you could never, ever mistake her for anyone else, unlike so many of the interchangeable plastic pop stars of the last decade.

  • Amazing what has been/can be done with just three chords! Great Recording.

  • My Grandpa favorite song - and one of mine too.

  • My favourite version is Suzy Bogguss' version but this is very good

  • Yes, thank you!! Luv it!!

  • One of my very very favorite songs and they sing it sooo well!! Have to listen to this at least 4 times a day!! TY for posting it!!

  • @Sunriseatnoon Linda, looks like your posting problem is resolved. Thanks for the encouragement.

  • rubbish

  • @willowbanks3 This comment from an 11 year old girl who plays with toy horses like little boys play with toy cars, and makes noises for the horses. As a grandfather, I thought her two videos to be very cute. I couldn't expect her to like this Nicks/Isaak video, although I'm puzzled as to how she arrived here. Those of you who adore little girls should watch her videos.

  • @willowbanks3 bite me, this is Hillbilly

  • @willowbanks3 Hillbillys

  • @willowbanks3 Absolute rubbish. Chris Isaak is fine but Stevie Nicks is a train wreck doing this. Where's my gong.

  • I've listened to this a few times now and it keeps getting easier on the ear --I've never heard of Stevie Nicks (I'm in the UK) I clicked on cos it's a great songa nd Chris Isaac is a great singer, but Miss Nicks is very good too. She's older than my usual taste in women, maybe I'm gettin' desperate, but I think she oozes attractiveness.I love women with a husky voice.

  • Very individual voice this lady has, I liked this. How cool is Chris Isaac? Great duet?

  • Thanks for the posting. This is the best version of this song I have ever heard !!!!

  • Happy Birthday, Stevie

  • Great Stevie great !!!

  • Love it, so tight too, sounds more like a studio recording, you could forget its live. And Stevie Nicks still looks like a knockout. x

  • i remeber when i was about 9 i heard this song on a film my father was watching, and the line 'come and sit by my side if you love me' was always stuck in my head, i love this song

  • how can you not like this, 2 American Icons ssinging a classic

  • Stevie sounds like a sad sheep.

  • I'm singing this song for solo & ensemble in choir! :)

  • i've always liked this and was thinking of putting this on a new cd when i found this version...its simply the best its ever been sung..love it plus good match of voices

    frank di nunzio

  • This is just a great version of a classic American traditional song. Bravo, Ten Thumbs up. Couldn't be better, I love it.

  • my grandma too xxx stewart scotland

    xx

  • Mr. Waddy Wachtel on guitar!

  • Respond to this video...

  • By request, I am learning this to sing to the folks where I work at an Assisted Living Community. They're going to love it... What a great job by Stevie an Chris!!!

  • i'm impressed how they stepped back in time and recorded this wonerful song that i am sure is completely out of style with the general public.....bravo.....just shows how chris issack marches to his own drummer.

  • This has been a favorite of mine since I read "Battle Cry" and the marine from Texas pledged to sing it at their reunion if their squad made it back from Tarawa. But, really, this is the most powerful version of this beautiful, heart-wrenching song that I have ever heard. Stevie and Chris make me proud to be an American. God bless them.

  • This was my Grandmas favourite song :) thanks for posting it.

  • could her and lindsey do a whole album like this please please please :)

  • i love this song

  • These two awesome singers put a master touch on an American Classic here. Stevie Nicks is a true natural charm on this duet with genius singer Chris Isaak.

  • so beautiful gotta love that stevie

  • this is absulotly amazing! I listened my father to sing this song since I'm a little child. It brings lots of my lost memories. Now we are far away to each other, but I decided to go back for him soon.

  • Absolutely beautiful. Thank you guys for keeping the classics alive!!!!!

  • these two should cut a cd of country classiscs together

  • @battaglia5 , I hope they read the love of their fans and decide to do just that-wouldnt it be awesome.

  • Hello ~ i love this song alot ~ last time i heard when i was only 10 yo ~ now i will be 30 on Dec 31st 2009 ~ thanks

  • Ah, ghosts of Xmas past! One of Grandma's lullabies. Thanks for posting this. I got chills!

  • This was my dad's favorite song and he'd sing it to me when we would were in his old work truck. Watching this brought back a flood of memories of my late father. Thanks for posting it!

    Paul

  • we're not wooooooooorthy!

  • Love the fella on led Guitar. Great sound.

    Lindy

  • Fantastic version of this song. Love Stevie and she sings this well with the great Chris Isaaks.

    Thank you for posting.

  • How do I transfer this to my ipod, love it

  • Windows XP Pro: After the video plays completely, do NOT close the YouTube window. In Folder Options, View tab, check "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files". Navigate to Documents and Settings\(your name)\Local settings\Temporary Internet Files. At the top of the list should be a 19,665KB MP4 file. If not, click on refresh and the "Size" button until it appears. Drag the file to any folder, or to your iPod. Send a TIF shortcut to desktop for future.
