  • i doubt they'll re-emerge again after 2 years :(

  • @Saweenbarra Um, they're still alive and well, doing better than ever. They're working on Chapter 18 as we speak. They've been busy with school and work and life and drama, but they've still been working their collective asses off. They just haven't shown anything yet. Patience.

  • Golden tits are one of the biggest factors of developing a great game.

  • What language are You using With what language

  • I WANT THIS GAME!!!

  • its been a long time since you guys made an update Why ?!!

looking forward to you next video

  • I love watchin these guys! :)

if u wanna new member (programmer) contact me ;)

  • these videos need popcorn to watch to

  • falcon punch?

  • I really want to be a programmer, though I am undecided if I want to take it to professional level, and right now I'm just starting to learn all the basics (The "hardcore" basic with no graphics output what-so-ever. This is bringing me down and I'm lacking the encouragement or anything to learn any further. Any help on how I could get motivated? I know you said in your game development "how to" video to work on a side project, but still. . .

  • Carry Oooon! Its not like, lifes this crushing nightmare!

  • well, a newbie to C++, I wrote my first program, the classical "Hello world". And, just my luck, there is a syntax error. If it does run, apparently return 0; doesn't work with me. Any reason why?

  • @DaUnknowna : if your main function has return type void you should just do "return;" or just leave it out. Since a void function is not supposed to return anything except the program control.

  • @nezrif27 oh I got it figured out now, but thanks

  • the engine programmer is the coolest. Watch his vids on how to begin game development

Only one question: opengl or d3d?

  • I definitely agree. ;)

It's OpenGL on Win/Mac/Nix. Dreamcast/PSP are whole different stories.

  • KOS on dreamcast, not many people outside dreamcast home-brew community know of it i don't think

  • Hi, what is the name of the second song in this video? It's pretty cool. Also, you guys are pretty cool.

  • Thanks. It's "Forever" by Julien-K. As a matter of fact, every song in this video is by Julien-K from the album "Death to Analog."

  • @Zicologo Julien K is amazin...my fav band is linkin park and Julien k is great as well

  • yer my heroes man!!!

doing what most game developers couldnt be bother doing or even getting off the asses.

keep showin em how it is done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gaem?

  • damn proud of ya there lads (and lass)

    keep it up

make sure to give Pritam them cookies and pie now

  • Why thank you. We will be sure to do that. :D

  • So will marcel still write in blitz+ or some other standard language, like C/++?.

  • C++ with QT.

  • with my first camera system, I made the same mistake with the manipulation of each individual tile.

  • Glad to see you back guys. :D

  • I think what sets you guys apart is the personal touch. I mean, there are a lot of indie dev blogs by other teams that do amazing work too, but you don't really get to see the actual people behind the voices. See what kind of environment they're working in, what makes them click together as a team.

  • Hell yeah, Julien-K / Stranded - thats my favorite song on the entire album!

  • Agreed!

  • It is awesome that you guys are back...

and running at full speed =D

    Wish my Best!

  • That is some spectacular progress! SUCK IT, J-FORCE.

  • Awesome guys! Keep up the good work!

  • I´m going to buy a Dreamcast and the game just to play this game when it´s out.

Falco you program assembly in this game too?

  • Yeah, a little bit in LibGyro. Probably more by the time the game is out.

  • it was said before here... but i am so happy that marcel is back too. :)

I mean, without marcel and peter your team would be just to plain, straight and proffessional >:P

To me they add the life and fun to your videos, and falco would have no one to pick on...because the rest seems rather sensetive.

And thanks guys, because you got me started with programming :)

  • What happened to Thomas?

  • I like the new way your making videos but I just don't get that random and fun feeling that the other ones had that made them so fun to watch over and over again. Either way good videos and good luck.

  • hey man, was jus wondering, are u getting paid for this?

  • Great to see such a massive return, there's at least an hour of content! :) - got my fix. Glad that Marcel made it back to the fold too, he was missed.

The best thing is that there's a distinct lack of other games sprites - it's your own content, characters, scenarios, and I think that will fuel development more and more, I especially look forward to seeing that slug come to life :).

Best game dev team series I've seen - and I watch at least....3

  • Best game dev team video series indeed.

  • This is incredible. Seeing a close-knit team work so hard at a feat of game development from the ground up is one of the coolest things one can witness, in my humble opinion. Keep up the awesome work guys!

  • I was watching last night, was too tired... and lazy, to comment though. I like what I saw through Episode 2. Im glad to see all of the work, as well as libGyro working on all the consoles. Great to see the teams progress. Also, great the Marcell and the others are back.

Thanks for the updates, keep up the awesome work ES Team!

  • My god! It's finally here. Haha I honestly squeeflailed like a fan girl.

  • yay. finally, been waiting for this for ages. Love u guys.

  • I've been a developer for BioWare for about 6 years now and I've seen a lot of wannabees come and go, and I've got to say this...

You guys are some of the most talented, hardworking developers I've seen a long time. It takes a great amount of dedication and time that most people are unwilling to give. It has paid off greatly. I really enjoyed this, and your engine is beautiful, btw. Keep it up and God bless.

  • Wow, I'm speechless.

  • I'll just jump in in the congratulations.

You guys are doing a great job here. Basically taking hobby/indie-development to a new level of multiplatforming out of the box. You've accomplished great things and are the motivation of a whole lot of people as it seems. So once again congratulations of an integral part to the hobbyist and indie development scene. Keep up the GREAT work!

  • Absolutely phenomenal episode! Definitely the most thought-out and well-produced in the entire series. This goes above and beyond everything we've been hoping for. Seeing libGyro work its magic on all 3 platforms was a great moment - be proud! I have to admit, I was worried when the old engine was completely scrapped. I've seen this alot in other projects, and it rarely works. But, you guys have proven me wrong, and the project has never looked better!

  • WOOHOO! We've missed you guys. :-D

  • Yes!! another vid

  • FALCO MUCH LOVE!!!

  • Epic Win!

  • whoa a new episode!

and marcel's back into the team. hell yeah

"Regardless, I will crash it" << that's the motivation!

kinda reminds me when someone tried to crash your editor

  • Yeah! 7 parts of awesomeness :] this is more than I expected

  • Wait, Falco...is still living!!??

  • Almost died from the PSP, but I made a full recovery.

  • FINALLY UPDATES :D

Good to see some of that progress :)

  • completely and utterly brilliant episode.

  • Finaly! new episode

  • Go Marcel!

  • Awesome guys, watching all parts now!

  • Fuck yes.

  • 8 months of waiting...this is awesome!

  • Great =O

Honestly, i think all u guys will be VERY VERY sucsseful with game programming and all this stuff one day, =D

  • Is it weird that I woke up feeling that to day was the day a new video would be out? humm...

    Either way great stuff guys

  • Oh jeez, thank you for uploading this. It really helps me to being happy :)

  • Awesome awesome awesome awesome. (and you got the sound going down both channels this time :D)

  • I <3 you Marcel. Welcome back!

  • Hmm good video. I like the old videos where you fuck around though. They were always good for a laugh. But this is nice! Keep up the amazing work! The game is starting to look really fun. =)

  • How come you are implementing your own 3D matrix calculations? Is there something wrong with the gl calls? It looks like your code doesn't push the transformations onto the stack properly (but the individual transformations are great!).

  • We aren't using GL. It's a multiplatform game for Dreamcast and PSP--we had to implement them ourselves to allow for the engine to be multiplatform.

  • Ah, that makes sense. I forgot that you are targeting multiple machines. Smooth move. Fortunately, the math is not all that terrible (especially when working in orthographic).

  • Along those same lines, do the other system APIs really not have any matrix builders like OpenGL?

  • Kind of. They do, but it's really not at all uniform. Not only that, but I think I could do my own BETTER by using the vector unit on the PSP and special matrix/vector registers on the Dreamcast.

  • I expect libgyro to show up in the Ubuntu repositories yesterday.

  • awesome guys!

    gonna watch all episodes!

  • AWESOME, so glad you came back full force.

Instantly Saw Marcel and knew, AHHH SHIT DEY BACK!

Althought I enjoy seeing engine and editor development, I will continue watching hoping you dont zoom out to far to the point of only discussing the basic concept of the components of the game.

    New vids rock!

  • We don't plan on zooming out. Each respective area of development should be pretty in-depth.

  • I appreciate the response

  • This is awesome, it's definately different from the other videos and the inovation made it even better. You guys serve as inspiration to me and many other of your ~3000 subscribers and this episode does it very well. Keep up with the videos and the nice work!

  • Wow, honestly I am kinda glad kendal is part of the team. Not that I wasn't before lol but I have never really seen input from her. Welcome Kendal!!! :P

  • Fuck yes, Marcel's back

  • Fuckin right.

  • Yes! Definitely what we've been waiting for! Love you guys!

  • Thats nice we saw the project from kendall's point of view, at first we were just presented with her as an engine programmer

  • It's not "filler" time. It's commentary.

  • I was talking about all the black screen time and long transitions...

  • Also, I wasn't even being critical. Observations are observations. Youtube is too hostile.

  • Heh, sorry man. I thought you were referring to the whole intro as "filler time." =)

As for the transitions, I liked them....Haha.

Usually I check if whoever is commenting is a sub before I say something rude--but this time it was pretty late. My apologies, and thanks for watching.

  • Filler time? Oh, I'm sorry for refreshing your memory after...What, 8 months? -.-;

  • Brilliant!

  • OSNAP

  • Dam

  • Sick.

  • second! :P

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOT
