@Brakeheart ....... the N pole of a compass always points in the direction of the magnetic lines of force and the magnetic lines of force of the earth flow from the S pole to the N pole. Hence the N pole of the earth is actually the S pole of the earth :-)
does that mean someone named the poles on Earth wrong? Sounds very strange to me :o

but why are the compasses pointing towards the south pole?
maybe i don't know anything about compasses, but i thought they were to point North?

@WiiBui ..... the N pole of the Earth is actually a south..... with respect to the N pole of the compass. Sounds confusing, huh?
