People go with band pass boxes to cheap out on the amp as band pass masks the under power distortion. Put enough power to a sealed box or a good tuned ported box and you've got some killer bass. Sorry again man. Not trying to be a flamer here, just trying to be funny.. Epic FAIL! LOL

That is a really nice box. It's hard to tell, but I think you could get away with throwing more power at that sub. I don't know the dynamics of a bandpass box, but in my 4.5 net vol. ported box, I run 2100watts RMS (paralell 1.5ohm) without a problem and it gets really loud! Best of luck to you! Series parallel? i tried running speaker wiring from each coil to the amp, but the w7 pops when i turn it up and the low impedence light turns on. Also where should i have all of my settings?(gain, infra filter, center freq? Q?) its in a ported box to jl specs, it jus doesnt sound accurate, my amp is tuned to my last system which was two 13w3v3 but i blew them up so i went big and need help now!

if u mean you took each coil and wired it separately to the amp both +/- leads then u did it completely wrong...

Read the manual or go to the consumer support site to get a wiring diagram..

Parallel will give u more power due to lower impedance. and series will give u less power but better quality

yeah it was an old model, prolly 4-5 yrs old by now. you do not want to over power that sub, TRUST me! its $350 to repair when you blow it. and over 1300 or 1500 watts is a WARRANTY VOID power level. if you go to JL's website ull see the suggested power levels for each of their subwoofers. best for the 13w7 is the 1000/1 jl or maybe a couple hundred more in some1 else like kicker. but not 1500+. J is TRUE 1000w, most others arent accurate like that kicker maybe gave 800 in reality

Music is abount intergation between mid and bass. Good bass is hard to reproduce JL audio make some of the bes bass around,but with the subs you have how can you intergrate the bass with the mids..? its suposed to be seamless a bit of SPL is nice but this is just way OTT.

Hey bro, i LOVE the design of your bandpass box. It's really sweet. How are the measurements for a bandpass conceptualised? cuz on the jl website, they only give suitable dimensions for Sealed and vented enclusures. Do you just, add the two together? Because i know bandpass's are really sensitive, and an improper size will have a drastic effect on the sound, right? It's just ONE 13" w7 in there and it seems to give the effect of btw 2-4 subs. I wanna build a bandpass too, but hopefully 2x13W7s !

no it is not a 1500w speaker it is 1000 and they do not suggest putting more than 1000. go to their site and u can look at the suggested power chart. anything over 1000 is not suggested and about 1300 or more is in the black zone, u will blow it. ive done it once before n it was $350 to repair. i had a kicker 1200/1 on it n to tell u the truth it sounds much better and harder with the jl 1000.1
