  • Rory will never die !

    Greetings from Antwerp

  • if yu have had any freinds pass away from the liver it's truly amazin he's up there performing for it's a awful way to go he sure didn't deserve to leave that way he's truly a inspiration

  • sorry not to pull out any kind of a trump card on you chumps but the man, his guitar and his music works! He sails past any of you on this song and his music lives- I saw him several times live and built my guitar work on his as best I could - Rory is beyond your lame comments here - chumps

  • Jimi,Rory,Gary .....Putain ça doit être le pied la-haut !!!!!

  • I love rory. But at 1.27 he definitely said "Vaginas Jumping"

  • Even at the end of his life , rory stayed the BEST !

  • I can't bored Rory..I have watched a lot of different versions of his songs...

  • I agree, this one is much more soulful!

I need to listen to Rory, it is like getting fresh air when there is so much crap around

  • Hi, according to Rory's Time Line on RoryOn!, the concert at Lorient was on 8th August 1994.

  • Absolutely heartbreaking, beats his peers for pure soul felt blues.

  • "It's better to burn out than to fade away" R.I.P Rory we all miss you very much;(

  • @flairnatureboywoo Neil Young :o)

  • A shy and humble man, Rory never married and had no children. Instead he is thought to have devoted his life to his music, especially the blues. He played and recorded what he said was 'in me all the time, and not just something I turn on ...

This is my favorite version of this song.

  • Even he was sick, without Gerry on bass en Brendan on drums, it was still Rory ,voice like always,I saw him then in Belgium 1994 and was seized with emotion.

  • It's sad to know that he passed away a year after this great performance.

Clapton, with his armani suite, is a million miles away from Rory.

    RIP Maestro.

  • re: "Washed up", "Not like the early stuff", etc:

Imagine being a creative person who has played the same song a million times.

Riley 'BB" King summed it up well in 'The Thrill is Gone".

Some, like BB, manage to keep doing it over and over and over. Others, like Jimi become casualties. Others still fall somewhere in between.

No matter what, Rory was one of the true greats, even if this wasn't the best performance YOU ever saw.

  • Rory played gigs after this.

  • those vocals are amazing........RIP the best there ever was

  • RIP Rory you were and remain to be one of the best men and guitarists/singers ever to walk this earth♥You will be eternally missed ♥

  • it's not this song so much that's depressing, it's what he must have gone through. Maybe im wrong, maybe he enjoyed it all to the end

  • Rory died on 14 june 1995 exactly 15 years ago today.

  • Jesus christ, I was nearly 2 years old when this was recorded.

It's a shame I could never have seen him, though these later performances are really depressing, you can see the loss of stamina. :-(

  • In tune with the blues, I prefer this version of "Million Miles."

  • ah true? He's using marshall amps here? When i saw him in 1980 he was as well though.

  • saw him in 1980.

These last performances are really depressing. It's like all the energy is gone. Where is all the brilliant lead heard on Irish Tour 74? He looks ill, terrible, he was on meds at this stage.

Even living with all this he still played live, a true musician. He lived for the music right to the end.

    LEGEND!

  • Yeah, the last few concerts are heartbreaking alright

  • @Guevaristas dont say they were deppresing.....the man wasnt himself.if you can u can understand,listen.....

  • @seanlucky7 yes, of course that's understood

  • Whe will never forget this great man, rest in peace Mister Rory.

  • Legend, R.I.P., my name sake....

  • respect

  • you can see...unfortunately...how far he'd fallen here..I mean he used to throw in so many frills in this song..now mainly just chording...love Rory and always will...that's why I'll keep this on my page along with previous versions...as a lesson I guess...miss ya Rory...

  • Saw Rory many times in Liverpool from the seventies onwards. What a great blues player he was, this was one of my favourite songs.

  • very soulfull and touching,I saw him at last that same year dec 1994 in Belgium. A little bit strange without Gery Mc Avoy and Brendan O' Neill but Rory was still Rory , the hero of many people .A musician in heart and kidney.

  • This has to be my favorite Rory song as well. However the early version is the one I studied and although it's very polished, I think this one is much more soulful.

Now he has lived a life and has experienced the ups and downs. He seems a million miles away in this version. The blues are really ringing through.

Thank you for the posting. I've been looking for a later version for a long time now.

    Heather.

  • Thanks for the comment Heather, while he always gave it everything i agree that this version is a bit more heart-felt maybe, i don't like how heavy his sound became though, this is probably one of the last live performances of it

  • thanks padraig...here an old fan, back in 1976 and still in awe of this wonderfu man and musician. He has to be more in our future than past....i will send you little more myself....god bless you

  • @hgustar I agree Heather indeed very soulful and a warm performance. Made me think of this guy in The Commitments saying that: We Irish are the black of Europe .. :-)

  • @hgustar yeah - really full of soul is this version - as his life was. A real musician.

  • i really really love rory's music...best music i think ill ever hear...every song is so unique

  • Not to mention that each performance is also unique, every song is in the moment.

  • Rory's best song I believe...A real haunting number that has stayed with me from the first time I saw him perform it in 75. Great songs stand the test of time and this is one of those songs.

  • rory played it a million times; a million miles, also in this version, still is the same: blues straight from the soul

  • Evidently this is not the same thing that 20 years ago neither 30, that stupidities. And what is equal?

    A 5.0 because don't exists 6.0

  • god damn i Love this song!

  • I agree with you padraig i just adore everything about the man but i enjoy the 70s performances more. In saying that i really love this version, he still showing that amazing feel and raw emotion thats the trademark! Hey no disrespect to bassist but not the same without gerry eh!?

  • man, he sure has changed over the years, so has the song.

  • Yeah his sound got far heavier alright as he went on, i don't like it as much as the original but it is always good to see a musician constantly work his own material, even twenty years later.

  • the solos hauntingly good

  • Still the greatest but a hard video to watch. I love Rory so much.

  • amazing..thanks for posting

  • great video padraig314 you big knobbo!!!
