I'm coming from a Z06 to a GTR, and the only reason is the AWD and our weather in Seattle. A lot of you seem to forget the "fun to drive" factor here, and I can tell you, there are few things more fun to drive than a lightweight car with a ton a extra torque. Is it a better can than the ZR1? In some ways much better and it falls short in a lot of ways too. You feel very detached driving a GTR. Stop pissing and moaning and go drive. Cars have personalities, it's not just a matter of stats.
GT-R needs to stop adding electronics. if the others had the same launch controls it would be back to the bottom of the heap. besides its not like you can come close to pushing your car to its limits on public roads. driving a super car would almost seem like torture.
the GTR and Corvette are both nice cars. the main diffrence is the respect you get in the road from strangers. The vette has 54 more years under its belt and is an american icon. the GTR is a new machine that isnt widely known.

Now 2011 Porsche and GT-R are much faster than ZR1. With significantly smaller engines (and lower price tag for GT-R), they beat ZR1 in 0-60, quarter mile, and Nurburgring laptime, what a clean sweep!

@blazzing4321 The Porsche 911 Turbo S did in fact beat the ZR1 in the 1/4 mile. Its advertised 1/4 mile (10.7) is lower than the fastest 1/4 mile for the ZR1 (10.74). It also will consistently do 10.7s when the ZR1 will only do it on 1 or 2 passes.

Smaller engine, less power @ crank, more weight, a lot more sophisticated techs, and much better performance. Note the term (Performance). GTR has better track time than ZR1. @mattzo111 Uhm, actually at Nurburgring, the ZR1 has a faster lap time. Tired of this old argument, and yes the GTR does take it to 60 and perhaps a tenths or so in the 1/4 but... it's AWD. That's expected. I mean the 1/4 are pretty close and in a mi race, the ZR1 detroyed it. And as previously stated, it did so at the track too. ZR1 - 7:19.63
GTR- 7:24.22
Actually in June and July of this year, even the Z06 beat it by 2 seconds.

As we allready know, new GT-R can make Nurburgring time in low 7:20s, nearly as fast as ZR1.
I admit ZR1 is faster. But 2012 GT-R costs $90,000 in USA, and 2012 ZR1 costs $111,000.
And one more thing - what would you pick for a DAILY ride? Offcause GT-R.
You can buy GT-R, mod it for $20,000 and it will beat ZR1 like a pussy. ;)

@ExtremalZ yeah of course put some twin turbos on the corvette and you will have a 220mph car and will left a GTR in the start line.. seriously if u dont know anything about cars dont comment... all you can actually mod with a GTR is body and exaust since it runs at the engines limit but LS9 engine can get some extra engine tweaks and easily reach 1000hp

@ExtremalZ The ZR1 also used an optional (non stock) super-slick track DOT competition tires (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure).And the 2012 GTR was a STOCK one.
So, ZR1 7:19 in normal conditions and with competition tires (non stock) 2012 GTR 7:24 in semi-wet conditions and STOCK.

@AntFragale Yeah. Turn off the traction control of the GTR so you can get those times and you lose your warranty, however. They fixed that in the new GTR though....you can't turn off the traction control. Great china doll "super car"

GTR great cars still was mad when they didnt make it clutch manual, and only automatic, and yes i knw is 1 if not the fastest trans but still having a sport car with an old fashion manual trans is a must , but is just my opinion ^^. eventually manual trans are going tto go away ><

@ThePantha2 the gtr does indeed have manual trans, just not the classic clutch manual trans type. the reason they didn't give the GTR the classic manual transmission is because the classic manual transmission would slow it down on the track, so they gave it a dual clutch gearbox instead.
