In England, I believe that they are known as 'Travellers' and they are a social problem, and are regarded as thieves and no goods, and are very much hated.

The PC term is "Traveller" but most people just call them Gypsies. And yes, they are mostly considered spongers and tax evaders.
On a video-related note, I'm not a big fan of this, but that's partly because I dont particularly understand or appreciate gypsy culture.

Be aware of gipsy and "gipsy"... the traditional gipsies are wonderful people! Great culture (do not mistake with social aspects), great music, great voices, great dances...
However, a lot of "gipsies" today are only robbers, ravishers and violent men, who can only abuse the state and the social support! And I know what I am talking about since I come from Czech Republic...
