  • ahh, the good times. when vampires sucked blood instead of...

  • When I saw this in the movies, as soon as Dracula said "I need you," to Lucy, every woman in the audience, regardless of age or color, sighed aloud. You bet, he's the sexiest Dracula ever!

  • Sadly I think Gerard Butler surpassed this.

  • What I love more than anything is his voice. I finally found this movie because clips of his voice were used in the album Nosferatu by Helstar. "You fools! Do you think with your crosses and your wafers you can destroy me? ...I am the king of my kind!"

  • I would be so happy if a Frank Langella vampire was at my window...Yum

  • His interpretation of Dracula was an interesting one, and probably one of the best the world has ever seen. I'm pretty glad he took this role. :)

  • He's very handsome :) and a lovely actor might I add.

  • Has anyone seen Frank in The Wrath of God? He plays a young and very handsome Thomas De La Plata

  • He certainly was the hottest Dracula ever and he is an outstanding actor.

  • Where can i get the haunting music for this movie? i want to make mixed recording for Halloween! anybody help me?

  • Langella's portrayal of Dracula wasn't intended to be sinister. They left that to the other versions of Dracula, including the BBC one with Jourdan. Langella's Dracula was intended to be a more romantic figure. Langella admits this fact himself in the "Unvamping of Dracula", which is posted in several parts right here on YT. Watch it, it's interesting!

  • I want to ask why is Frank Langella simply the best EVERYTHING he's played. From Diary of a Mad Housewife on down, he is simply brilliant and was about the handsomest man to grace the screen. Can you imagine actually wanting old Drac to get you....well, she did. Love it!

  • faves, though, with Christopher Lee's Dracula a close third...

  • Just watched "Dracula 1979", & "Count Dracula 1977", the 1st with Langella & the latter with Louis Jourdan. Must say overall the 1977 version was a better storyline, although I haven't read the book yet. I think that Jourdan played the part better; however, Frank is gorgeous, & very seductive, embodying the character of the Count perfectly. Jourdan was gorgeous in his heyday, & if you could put Jourdan's acting with Langella's looks, then you'd have the perfect Dracula!!! Both movies are my

  • I like Frank Langella, but in my opinion Christopher Lee was and is the greatest Dracula acotr to date.

  • This came after the louis jourdan bbc dracula and borrowed from it a little too freely. I saw this in the theater and thought that at the time and I still do. Of course, I suppose imitation is the highest form of flattery.

  • @zyxquark Sorry, I saw the BBC Louis Jordan version and it was so cheesy and laughable. Jourdan can't hold a candle to Langella.

  • @thespiswolf That BBC blows the cape off of this overrated romanticization; that version faithfully follows the great novel; no great special effects in this version; Jordan is sinister; Langella is . . .not.

  • @RPenta All your taste is in your mouth.

  • @zyxquark

I'll agree the BBC version was FAR superior to this and many versions, though I don't hate this one either. Like both versions of the 1931 production from Universal it was adapted more from the play than the novel and suffers from various problems, but still has some redeemable things about it. Now the 1992 version is a completely different story. I expected so much more from that one. Dracula 2000/3000 were terrible too but then again you expected nothing from those.

  • Hes extraordinary in this. True great acting.

  • i thought i knew his face lol

  • I 100% agree with you thespiswolf! I also love the soundtrack.

  • He IS the most seductive Count Dracula there has ever been. Thank you for posting this video. John Williams' soundtrack is phenominal as well.

  • Oh my. Wasn't he handsome yet scary at the same time. Tim Dalton would have made a fantastic Dracula as well.

  • Saw him twice on broadway with my wife.....after the show he stayed around for 45 mins,,,signing autographs and pic...a super nice guy in person.....

  • The best ever.

  • Elegance marked Langella's performance in this Dracula movie. His portrayal is also haunting like no other I've seen. Terrific movie and by far my favorite Dracula movie.

  • I believe this picture is still great

  • I still like Lugosi, Lee, and Schreck a little more, but I he's my fourth favorite. Even with the love scenes you still knew he was a complete monster no matter what and the movie didn't come to a complete stop because of that. I liked the Coppola movie and Gary Oldman, but right after the epic Demeter/biting Lucy scene it keeps alternating between silly and serious. They made him TOO pitiful I think. Frank was a nice balance. Even as Skeletor you take him seriously. He's just an awesome actor.

  • If I were Lucy, I'd be thinking, "Bad dream, bad dream, bad dream -- ohhhh, hey ... GOOD dream!"

To me, the two creepiest moments of the movie are right here, when he's crawling down to her bedroom & turns to look right at us, & when he's clawing open the window. That just looks so *animal*.

  • what happened to dracula's brother? read: "Last Rites: The Return of Sebastian Vasilis" to find out

  • The moment at dinner when the butler cuts himself and Langella's eyes do that manic dance is what made me say "yeah, he really gets it."

  • they prab showed this for 3-4 halloweens when I was a kid. Used to stay up late watch this and king kong 76' Memories....So glad I was an 80's kid and grew up with the best movies and music!

  • Compelling and magnetic. Dracula is supposed to have power over people, greater seduction and power of personality and Langella does the best job to date

  • Frank wore the cape well, he was handsome and had a nice, deep compelling voice but he was NOT the greatest in this role; ever. Dracula was essentially a ghoul, and in that capacity, Bela Lugosi and Klaus Kinski are better actors. Gary Oldham was a close second.

  • @bookkeeper57 Though Langella does humanize the character, he makes him more romantic.

  • can't find any clips of those lips, those eyes, a movie that Frank is in, and have been wanting to. been having trouble finding it locally and online as well.. damn

movie was filmed in my grandparents house, shame too, have an original movie poster too, the fuck!

  • @Bayplaces What about "Diary of a Mad Housewife"?can anybody post clips or the movie?

Frank Langella still makes me drool, and yeah,I think it's his eyes mostly.Wow!

  • @4MaryAnna Have you seen Frank in Sphinx? He is very seductive in it. It's on Utube if you are interested.

  • @cajohn0 Yes,I've seen him in that one. Thanks for the tip though. If you haven't yet seen him in "Diary of a mad housewife" try to find it and check him out. All I can say is WOW.!!!

  • @cajohn0 yeah I've seen it,and yes I agree with you. thanks for the tip though! :)

  • This vid cuts short at just the most exciting moment. :(

  • @S1587915G So does the movie...

  • I believe he was the best Dracula ever. He pulled it of wonderfully.

  • Yesss! Frank's eyes did that dancing thing, back and forth. I don't think he can help it, but it did make him look extra intense.

  • @kaywrenkirk His "dancing eyes" are caused by a neurologic condition called NYSTAGMUS

  • Christopher Lee scared me but Frank Langella scared me more because his intense eyes were both scary and alluring...I knew I would be a victim no problem!!! How scary!!! But yummy!!!....how can the two coincied? Yet they do! :-)

  • I'd go into ladies rooms and stand there like that but the darned teeth would keep falling out.

  • @Toracube

    Good visual! :-)

  • He's awesome as the Count. :)

  • Yep, Frank ist GORGEOUS!!! I love him!

  • @Nonacrina

This says it all--Langella was very handsome and romantic; aside from the fact that they massacre Stoker's novel worse than Vlad the Impaler massacred the Turks, Langella does not have the demonic presence of Christopher Lee, the power of Jack Palance, or the sinister menace of Louis Jourdan.
