Speaking as a White American, the best music really comes from/descended from African Americans. Not Rap, or that stuff, but if you look at Elvis inspiration, its all from African American gospel music, which is great stuff.
@HalfBornUnicornFetus I could almost here you, but your comment is like praising the parents while damning the child. The rap that you probably hate is not a product of Black culture, but rather a bastardized version of black music that has been perverted in order to sell records. Even considering that, try being a bit more open minded. If you like Aretha there has to be plenty of rap that you would enjoy.....
This was one of my favorite albums of Aretha,s and Luther Vandross working together. And Get it right and Doctors orders where two of my favorites on this album. And she still sounds good singing it.
NOW THIS should be added always. She sings this fine. A Rose Needs to be added because the song was written moreso for her vocal state now. Dr, Feelgood should just be a staple because she can STILL do that one fabulously.
Absolutely one of my favorite Aretha-Luther collaborations!! Love the way she phrases the song. Still the signature Aretha but she adds just a little extra twist that's very subtle to anyone but the Arethacologists!!
OK THIS IS GOOD. Here breath control and timing isn't the same as it was in the early 80's BUT THIS IS GOOD!! Now all we need to add to the list is Whos Zoomin' Who, Jimmy Lee, Willing To Forgive, It Hurts Like Hell, A Rose Is Still A Rose, and so on!!
This is really awesome, and she sounds great. But I must say, I wonder how this woman has never had a wardrobe malfunction...
