  • That sound. Thanks for the recording.

  • Sadly the Integral Hang is no longer made by PANArt. They have shifted their focus slightly and are making what they call the Free Integral Hang: not tuned to western standard (A440 or 12TET).

The demand is still vastly larger than the supply though, and the general process is still the same. Folks interested in the FIH send a letter (not e-mail) to PANArt requesting the opportunity to purchase one.

  • Where do we get these? i would love to play one of these. and how much are they.

  • @freakonaleashxp Approx. 1300€ and you need to write a cover letter to PANArt and then wait at least a few months to see if you can have one.

  • Hi,

I want to buy two panart hang drum

How can I make a connection with you

  • do they all come tuned in D minor? or can you request custom tuning?

  • PANArt has reduced the scales to the single D Minor based one, so all Integral Hang Instruments are D Ding, A, Bb, C, D, E, F, A.

  • beautiful sound.. I just got my Hang a month ago, and am still learning. I wish I had more of a background in percussion so my hands would work faster. I will get there with enough practice. If you are ever headed to the Charlotte NC area, email me, we can Hang together.

  • I know the frustration of which you speak.

    =)

I have no real drumming background, and the process of connecting the hands to the spirit of what you're trying to accomplish can be disheartening sometimes.

Work simple rudiments to get your hands used to moving and put in the hours of communing time with the Hang and you'll be in the flow more and more.

Let me know if you're in the L.A. area and we can HangOut!

  • hey! i'm trying to get one for myself...where can i buy one??

i don't like the imitations like hapi and 1tone

  • @JRW3780 Where did you get your Hang? i have a background in percussion and i love the sound and idea of the hang drum....but i cant find them...

  • Very beautiful sound! How does one get this instrument?

  • You cn get them shipped now! Mine is coming at the begining of feb : )

Still a very long waiting list though!

  • you actually got a real hang that was shipped to you? please please tell me how i can do this. i am aware of how expensive it may be but i would love to not have to go to switzerland to buy one...

  • hey! beatleful instrument, beatleful song!

i want to now where are you from, and if you know some instrument just like yours here in Brasil ore close..

    thank's, and good job!

  • Thank you for the kind words!

I am in the Los Angeles area in the United states.

The instrument (the PANArt Hang) is a kind of 'sound sculpture' created by two artists in Switerland. Like other hand created works of art there is a limited number and availability of PANArt Hang instruments.

  • A very interesting instrument indeed.

I've seen one being played in a park when I was visiting Madrid

The pressing on the top part seems to be influencing which of the overall tones are resonating along with the note being struck, or am I mistaken?

  • There is some cross resonance between notes, but it's not as direct as you seem to be indicating. There are also overtones built into each 'tone field' that can cause cross resonances. The top note is a D with an octave of D as an overtone as well as an A, both of which exist in the circle of notes around the center.

  • wait so you can just wright a letter... i thought that you had to already know somebody who had one, set up a appointment, fly to Switzerland, prove your worthy to get one, and talk to the guys their to see if they like you, and if thats not enough, give them at least one kidney and your first born

  • The PANArt Hang is the creation of two artists who personally do almost every step by hand. Before 2006 the demand was such that they could more easily meet prospective buyer's expectations. Starting in 2006 the complexity of their processes and the time and expense it took to create a Hang increased, along with the explosion of interest that YouTube brought. At this point the two artists are a bit overwhelmed and are unsure how they will proceed in creating sound sculptures like the Hang.

  • so where did you get your hang?

  • Switzerland.

    =)

Seriously. I wrote a letter in May of 2007 and was able to get an appointment in March of 2008.

  • As SOON as you guys start shipping these, count me in on purchasing one.

  • I'm sorry if you were mislead. I do not represent PANArt in any way other than a Hang Enthusiast. I made this video because I was lucky enough to obtain one of the new 2008 Integral Hang instruments and wanted to share the beauty with other Hang enthusiasts.

  • how much did the integral hang cost you?

  • The price of the Integral Hang is 1,200 Euros. There are additional VAT/Shipping charges that may apply. But at this point they all appear to be spoken for through spring of 2009.

  • Hi there, do you have any idea of how i could buy one? do you have the contact /web page of the constructors?

tanx, keep with the good vides =)

  • there are always the same scale now?

  • The 2008 offering of the Integral Hang is only in one set of notes - D Ding, A, Bb, C, D, E, F, A.

The Hang Makers have decided to take an extended break in 2009 before deciding what to do next, so we'll see what they come up with then.

  • It's a beaut! Well done on getting hold of one in 2008

  • At about 1:12 there was a chance to keep two voices going with a powerful high note part with steady bass--I was really getting into it--but you stopped abruptly. Neat instrument, anyway.

  • This was more of a demonstration than a musical interlude.

  • whoa where did u get that??

  • very nice instrument seems somehow easy to learn and it sounds great

  • Wow, beautiful sound, and really amazing that you can do that! Thank you for posting this!

This may be a silly question, but would the drum sound different if you had on jeans or some other pants? Is the drum being against your bare skin a part of its expected sound? Meaning, to play this drum, are you supposed to play it bare-legged, or does it not matter? Or is it more in what sound you seek that determines what you wear, or don't wear, on your legs?

Lovely and amazing sound! Thanks much!

  • Not that I've found. But there is an interaction between the Hang and the legs that does change the tone. I've recently found that sitting in a chair with knees together at the right spacing under the Gu opening can bring the Helmholtz/Fundamental resonance to a D2.

  • thanx for ufo..

  • where can I find this instruments?

  • man, what a cooool case...

and yes: this IS a new generation of hang hang!!! what a fantastic range of overtones! well played!!!! and by the way: thanks a lot for your comments on my latest vids!

  • I really wanna find someone who lives near St. Louis with a PANArt hang drum, would anyone be so gracious as to let me try their drum out for a couple minutes? Its quite a sum of money and I would love to see just what its all about before I go through with it.

  • patience, which is hard to have as i applied to get one in october 2007, i had to wait till march 2008 for their reply, then was informed that i wont get it shipped to me until the first weeks of october 2008! only a year to wait then, at least it gives me more time to get the money for it, which is a £1000. well, good things come to those who wait, good luck to everyone else wanting to get one...

  • I want one so bad.... does anyone have a current email address of PanART?

  • PANArt shut down their website and their company e-mail address some time ago. The only method of contact is to write them a letter.

  • Do you know the contact address?

  • How did you get one so soon?

  • By writing in May of 2007 and waiting.

  • How did you get one so soon?

  • robert it's great see this!.. oh.. i love my hang but... I WANT AND INTEGRAL! jajaja

    keeps playing!

  • Hi, bist Du auch süchtig nach dem Hang. Ich habe meins seit 3 Wochen und kann nicht aufhören zu spielen.

    Harry

  • It is addictive! Also there is a deeper learning that comes with simply spending time listening to what the metal does under different touches.

  • That's unbelievable !!

This new gen of hang is absolutely great !!

    How much does it cost?

I need to go to Bern lol !

    Thanks for sharing it 5*

    Sylveusneu.

  • Nice IH!! Same tuning as my second gen too~!

  • Nice demo video ;-)

  • Wow this vid was exactly what I was waiting for! An Integral Hang vid with good sound. I'm waiting for my appointment in Bern to get one myself, man it's beautiful.. Thank you for sharing! *pulp*

  • Damn this is exactly the video I was waiting for. I'm waiting for an appointment to get my very own and was dying for a good quality Youtube vid, thanks! It's beautiful..

  • Would love to know what is different about the new Integral Hang. Is it still in the D Ding series of hang hang? How is the Integral described by Felix and Sabina?

  • As in the 'About This Video' section I mentioned this is still D Ding with two A's and another D like most of the 2006/7 New Generation models. PANArt hasn't made an official announcement regarding the Integral Hang, but have a booklet they send to those who have requested one that describes it a bit.
