  • Hi Nutzkie2001, as I live in the UK I am unlikely to see Jamestown for real, so I get great pleasure in watching your videos. I am trying to create a map overlay for Google Earth of the Angels Branch. Would you be able to point me in the right direction. I have pretty well got the Eastern parts of the Sierra plotted already. Thanks, Derek Brice

  • Actually, I've already done that. Is there a way to transfer saved paths on Google Earth? If so I could just send the file and make it easy for you.

  • You right-click on the overlay in the My Places column and select Email. Now how can I privately give you my email address?

  • I have sent you a private message with my email address.

  • Nutzkie, you have to finish this video series! Besides, you stopped at Tuttletown. Continue the series until you hit Angels Camp.

  • I love this video! It makes me want to spend billions of dollars to rebuild the branch just for Railtown.

  • I hope that you do continue this series. I was born in Sonora and lived in Tuttletown for 5 years before moving away. It is good to hear about the history of where I am from. I have visited my relatives who still live in Tuttletown. They took me for a ride on the old trains there in Jamestown and I loved it. I also learned that my grandfather was one of the mechanics for the Sierra Railroad back in the day.

I would love to see this continued.

    Thank you.

man! everyone else interested in the Sierra has relatives who worked on it, but not me! how did this happen... oh right, #3 hooked me in my early years.

  • Nice story.. The number 3 won't be done until sometime next year 2010..

  • Yeah, she'll be finished in time for opening weekend. I'm helping to restore the locomotive to its 1929 appearance. I'm really lucky to be a part of this!

  • These are really awesome videos. I cannot wait for the completion! The Angels branch is truly awesome.

  • Yeah, I'm saddled with a pretty lousy microphone, so the narration doesn't come through as clean as I would have liked.

As for the scene where I point out the switch, I was planning on re-shooting that part anyway. It was rather windy that day, (at least by Tuloumne County standards), and the wind noise played havoc with the sound.

Once the weather turns better, I'm going to be re-filming several portions of this project.

    Nutzkie...

  • Loved the series so far. Narration needs to be improved as some of the audio sounds muffled. Also where you point out the switch to angels branch when you turn your head away from the camera, so does your voice. Great job so far, look forward to future installments.

  • 4-6-0 Sierra No 3 Is my all-time-favorite locomotive!

    Do you think she´s alright?

  • Don't worry yourself about the ol' three-spot. The old girl is doing just fine.

All of the major work involved is already done except for fabricating the new boiler, and the state recently accepted a bid from a company up north to build that. The old boiler is going to be shipped out sometime in the next few weeks and the new one should be signed, sealed and delivered back down to Jamestown by Spring. With any luck, she'll be steaming again by Labor Day of 2009!

  • That´s absolutely brilliant, man!

I hope everything will go fine for her.

I´d like to see her in more westerns and Railroad movies, don´t you?

And I sure wish that she would have a twin-sister that could be own by "Ångrike" (Steam Kingdom) and run on the "Frycksdalbanan" line here in Sweden.

  • A quick update for now...

As of two weeks ago, the three-spot was up in Washington and preliminary work had commenced.

  • Ah, did it went fine with her?
