The Beatles had long lost their Mop Tops phase when Yoko came along. I will take Day in a Life, Across the Universe and 20 other Beatles songs over "Imagine". Songs like "Starting Over" are not in the same league as 95% of pre Yoko songs.

The first two Lennon solo albums are classic, and there's other great stuff spread out through his career. Yoko usually gets what she wants? I doubt she wanted him to bang someone in the first place, but since she knew he would, she chose to pick the person. He had already cheated on her before; one New Year's Eve, I think it was. Yoko gets a bad rap.

We don't hate Yoko, just don't believe much of what she says about her relationship with John. Sorry but the truth hurts, yes John loved Yoko. But that does not mean she was good for him, do you really think Yoko's going to tell the truth. Both Julian and Cynthia have said this in INTERVIEWS, the problems only started after he and Cynthia broke up. Consider this theory (and it's only that): John clearly wanted and needed a strong figure in his life to direct and perhaps in some ways even control him. Neither the Beatles or his marriage would have lasted anyway because he was so unhappy. Had Yoko not shoved her way in and provided what he apparently needed he probably would have died of a drug overdose years before he was killed. He's a tragic figure without a doubt - but he did seem to find some peace by the end of his life.
@vermont67 absolutely concur. i think she, whether meaning to or not, restored his confidence in being a real person (he was all whacked out on acid when they met and his ego was completely destroyed). she turned him on shortly after they met after he'd stopped taking it for a month or two and i think that was the birth of john ono. from that point on he saw her a savior/mother figure and he seemed to want for nothing but her happiness. her happenings often appeared to make john feel silly.

It's pretty easy to despise Yoko after watching this BUT u have to keep in mind it takes 2 to Tango. John could've bailed at any moment but he chose to start a relationship and eventually stayed. Yoko was a smart cookie who manipulated and used her womanly charms to win him over and keep him. BTW New York was where Yoko lived and worked , she arrived in The States as a young lady to study and eventually stayed. She comes from an extremely wealthy Japanes family but chose an unconventional life.

I gotta support Yoko here: Yoko had control over John because as someone mentioned before in this documentary, John saw a motherly quality in Yoko. I like anybody who was in John's life except Allen Klein.
In short, I think Yoko brought out the real John. Yoko brought out the true John: a man of peace and love. I myself have spoken with Yoko via family connections. I hear she's hard to work with but she was nice enough to accept my interview two year ago.

Yoko knew how to pull John's strings. To get him, she took what ever drugs he wanted to take. To make him interested in her career, I'm sure she told him the Beatles were crap and her stuff was "real art". When she got tired of him and thought she could make a career on her own, she sent him away with another woman. When she didn't have a sucessful career without him, she called him back, got pregnant and isolated him from his family and everybody he ever knew to maintain control over him.

And actually, it wasn't Yoko's fault he saw less of Julian and Cynthia at all. He didn't want to see Cynthia, and he was too occupied with Sean to see Julian. Cynthia always tries to make it seem like Yoko wouldn't let her talk to John, but did she ever say "hey Yoko, could I talk to John?" No. It's her own fault. Yoko would have let her if she'd asked.

There are just as many sources to support Cynthia and May as there are to support what Yoko says. The majority of people that support Cynthia are folks who were with the Beatles when they were nobodys and stuck with them to being famous.

@1365225 I've just started the chapter where Yoko came into the picture. She had approached Brian Epstein, Paul and George before John. Brian did give her the chance to have a presentation at one of his theater venues, the crowd got out of hand, she broke the "indecent exposure" rules with the whole cutting clothes off her body thing and Brian told Tony not to bother with her anymore because he feared getting shut down and fined.

@1365225 sorry I've been busy. Just started working full time after 5 years and it's been an adjustment!! I finished the book. It's pretty good. The best part of it was the the depth of information about Brian Epstein. His version of Yoko is pretty much the same, she stalked John until he gave in, she totally imersed herself into the Beatles business driving the wedge.

I sort of agree with you. What is bad is by John "getting what he deserved" others suffered, most importantly Julian/Cynthia and John's family from England. This is a very anti-Yoko biased documentary. "The creative Lennon died." What the frig is he talking about? The first two Lennon solo albums are classic, and there's other great stuff spread out through his career. Yoko usually gets what she wants? I doubt she wanted him to bang someone in the first place, but since she knew he would, she chose to pick the person. He had already cheated on her before; one New Year's Eve, I think it was. Yoko gets a bad rap.

We don't hate Yoko, just don't believe much of what she says about her relationship with John. Sorry but the truth hurts, yes John loved Yoko. But that does not mean she was good for him, do you really think Yoko's going to tell the truth. I mean even Sean has told many sad stories about his relationship with his father, Sean has told of how badly John treated him. No one is judging her, we just don't believe her anymore.

What sticks out, to me at least, is the people who support Cynthia/May/Julian/John's English family are ones who were with the Beatles/John from the very begining, stuck with them to fame and most of these folks are not emplyed by them, hence they have nothing to gain or lose by thier words. Folks who support Yoko became part of the circle with the fame and are still emplyed by Yoko or have dealings with her and have everything to gain lose by crossing her.

Both Julian and Cynthia have said this in INTERVIEWS, the problems only started after he and Cynthia broke up. John turned is back on his own son, and when he had Sean he could have made up for lost time with Julian. Instead John did nothing, until the last year of his life. Consider this theory (and it's only that): John clearly wanted and needed a strong figure in his life to direct and perhaps in some ways even control him. Neither the Beatles or his marriage would have lasted anyway because he was so unhappy. Had Yoko not shoved her way in and provided what he apparently needed he probably would have died of a drug overdose years before he was killed. He's a tragic figure without a doubt - but he did seem to find some peace by the end of his life.

@vermont67 absolutely concur. i think she, whether meaning to or not, restored his confidence in being a real person (he was all whacked out on acid when they met and his ego was completely destroyed). she turned him on shortly after they met after he'd stopped taking it for a month or two and i think that was the birth of john ono. from that point on he saw her a savior/mother figure and he seemed to want for nothing but her happiness. her happenings often appeared to make john feel silly.

It's pretty easy to despise Yoko after watching this BUT u have to keep in mind it takes 2 to Tango. John could've bailed at any moment but he chose to start a relationship and eventually stayed. Yoko was a smart cookie who manipulated and used her womanly charms to win him over and keep him. BTW New York was where Yoko lived and worked , she arrived in The States as a young lady to study and eventually stayed. She comes from an extremely wealthy Japanes family but chose an unconventional life.

I gotta support Yoko here: Yoko had control over John because as someone mentioned before in this documentary, John saw a motherly quality in Yoko. I like anybody who was in John's life except Allen Klein.
In short, I think Yoko brought out the real John. Yoko brought out the true John: a man of peace and love. I myself have spoken with Yoko via family connections. I hear she's hard to work with but she was nice enough to accept my interview two year ago.

Yoko knew how to pull John's strings. To get him, she took what ever drugs he wanted to take. To make him interested in her career, I'm sure she told him the Beatles were crap and her stuff was "real art". When she got tired of him and thought she could make a career on her own, she sent him away with another woman. When she didn't have a sucessful career without him, she called him back, got pregnant and isolated him from his family and everybody he ever knew to maintain control over him.

And actually, it wasn't Yoko's fault he saw less of Julian and Cynthia at all. He didn't want to see Cynthia, and he was too occupied with Sean to see Julian. Cynthia always tries to make it seem like Yoko wouldn't let her talk to John, but did she ever say "hey Yoko, could I talk to John?" No. It's her own fault. Yoko would have let her if she'd asked.

Brian did give her the chance to have a presentation at one of his theater venues, the crowd got out of hand, she broke the "indecent exposure" rules with the whole cutting clothes off her body thing and Brian told Tony not to bother with her anymore because he feared getting shut down and fined.

@1365225 sorry I've been busy. Just started working full time after 5 years and it's been an adjustment!! I finished the book. It's pretty good. The best part of it was the the depth of information about Brian Epstein. His version of Yoko is pretty much the same, she stalked John until he gave in, she totally imersed herself into the Beatles business driving the wedge.

Look it's just only easier as I believe to abandon a child once abandoned. I know people who did that. One abandoned the family very early and left one child behind. That child did the same when adult. I would swear it felt easier to do it perhaps cuz of thinking 'I survived, my child will too..' I'm not saying they never felt sorry but I can imagine it may have felt easier to do it. Not trying to justify such an act, though but you asked so I'm answering.

If it weren't for Johns idiocy there would have been no Yoko. The other 3 Beatles saw through her shit and they tried to tell him but he wouldnt listen and in the end he deserved what he got.

I sort of agree with you. What is bad is by John "getting what he deserved" others suffered, most importantly Julian/Cynthia and John's family from England. Who could have forseen that Yoko would end up being so effective in totally controling John's life? When you read about the way things where in John and Yoko's life it's very weird but when you see how she has handled herself after his death, it's makes sense. It's obivious he was a tool to promote herself, a tool she still uses today.
