2nd picture at 0:10 is a copy of Milton Greene's photos of Marilyn Monroe in a white fur coat.
@ 1:36 Madonna is copying the style of Marlene Dietrich.
@ 2:09, photo still of Madonna from a Japanese commercial, riding an elephant & wearing the same costume Marilyn wore for a charity benefit at Madison Square Garden in 1955.
@DeeDeeHoneybee They are INTENTIONAL homages. Madonna has never lied or denied about the homages she has made. They have always made sense too. Her Vogue video is a perfect example. She is saying something and giving it a new context and that's why it works with Madonna. She is a smart and very creative person. A fact which many people neglect. Silly to call her a rip off considering the originality and creative imagination she has blessed us with for 30 years nearly!
@megacoolin Madonna has ripped off Marilyn's image for 25+ years. Examples:Japanese elephant commercial, Material Girl, Sex book. She copied MM's Life cover in a scene from Who's That Girl. Copied one of MM's looks from Bus Stop on Truth Or Dare posters. Copied MM's looks at How To Marry A Millionaire premiere when she performed at 1991 Oscars. Copied MM photographs in April 1991 issue of Vanity Fair. Copied 1960s MM in Hard Candy promo photos.Copying that long is a RIP OFF, NOT an homage.
@DeeDeeHoneybee You're a bit strange. Madonna was referencing Marilyn. It was the whole point. It wasn't an accident and she wasn't copying. It was a reference to her and sometimes it was influenced by Madonnas photographer and not Madonna herself. She also referenced Garbo, Dietrich, Jean Harlow etc etc. She's a massive fan of old Hollywood so it's no surprise. It's not some covert copying. It's referencing and she is VERY up front about it...
@megacoolin Everyone is inspired by those who came before. Truly creative people make something original out of inspiration. They don't mimic. Madonna's duplication of the images of Monroe, Garbo, Dietrich, Harlow, Bardot (in Cherish video) indicates she must copy the past. She is a known control freak & very much in charge. She's not some passive person who lets others decide how she will be portrayed. She makes the final decision about her image & its frequent duplication of classic film stars.
@DeeDeeHoneybee When did I say different? I know all this. I'm obsessed with film. Madonna IS something new. It might not seem like it now because so many puccyfockers have copied her. In the end you will reach the pearly gates and Godonna will be there dressed as Dietrich ready to pass judgement. She will send you to a special place for those who are embittered and boring. I will go onto the dancefloor of ecstatic joy. :-D
@megacoolin I am from the country where frozen is banned, let me just tell you that the original song sounds nothing like Frozen at all. the case is a big joke and the country here still cant believe that this nobody even won the case. in fact, they did research on it and it turned out that Madonna never was in belgium at the time so never even heard the song. She only lost the case because the judge was annoyed that Madonna's lawyers didnt even bother to show up (because of the ridiculous case)
@megacoolin Madonna asked permission to use ABBA song for "Hung Up" BUT "Future Lovers" sampled Donna Summer's "I Feel Love". "Sky Fits Heaven" ripped off a poem recited in a Gap commercial! Lyrics & singing style of "Justify My Love" are from Ingrid Chavez, the original songwriter, who sued for songwriting credit & received out of court settlement. Madonna reworked brother-in-law's song "Stop" into "Don't Tell Me". "Ray of Light" is remake of 1972's "Sepheryn". She consistently copies.
@DeeDeeHoneybee Yes she asked permission and paid the copyright fees for Sepheryn and the Abba sample. The Ingrid Chavez case was different. It was a collaboration with Lenny Kravitz whom never told Madonna that a demo had already been recorded with Ingrid. Madonnas brother in law worked WITH Madonna to make Don't tell me. His original version is available on the internet. There's a clear difference between copying and sampling. Madonna recontextualises things with originality! Learn it!
@megacoolin Her label of many years, Warner Bros, has been sued many times as a co-defendant for Madonna stealing artists' copyrighted works, but allow the misconduct to continue. However, Warner made substantial profits from Madonna's misconduct, allowing said conduct to continue to innocent artists' detriment. They had the ability to stop the misconduct, but did not in favor of huge ill-gotten profits reaping them millions."
@megacoolin'The lawsuit prone Madonna is no stranger to allegations of theft and unlawful conduct, as she has been credibly sued for theft, copyright infringement, plagiarism..."
@megacoolin "Frozen" is banned in Belgium. The court there ruled it plagiarized another song. The son of photographer Guy Bourdin (deceased) sued Madonna for her blatant copyright infringement of his father's photographs in her "Hollywood" video. He won. "This Used To Be My Playground" copied Boy George's "To Be Reborn" video. She appropriated Billie Piper's "Honey To The Bee" video for her "Love Profusion" video. How is copying the work of other artists any indication of Madonna's originality?
@diamonddonut I liked her music when I was a teen. Then I grew up & realized her actions contradict the positive things she said in interviews. She's fake, materialistic & very insecure (repeated plastic surgery in an attempt to look 25 again). Also, her best songs in the beginning can be credited to Stephen Bray & Patrick Leonard. Her pattern is to use more talented people to write/produce her songs. She mainly wrote the songs in American Life, her shittiest album. Thanks for the info on Fairuz!
no prob, but try to not talk a bout the plastic things, older people feels bad, we are all going to be old soon so what goes around comes around, and u might do it one day even if u r against it nowdays, no one knows the future. but still, i really love her songs and beauty (covers and pics) but i hate her personality, her music is a big quality and her vids is beauty iconic such as bad girl, rain, nothing really matters, and others.i still listen to her hits and old albums.

although i like her old music, but also to be fair, here is a new fact too.
she stole part from the rhyme of an arabic singer named Fairoz from her religious concert named (Alyoom olika 3ala el5ashaba)
the original Fairoz rhyme: watch?v=TJ2gwJVfhVs
madonna Erotica song ( 03:53 ): watch?v=S5n3tw294u4 where it is more like porn than art.
just in case to add it to your list ;) oh ya, and Fairoz won 2.5$ million in 93.
