It doesnt matter what the issue is in our community, it ALL comes down to education. I mean, the system won't ever be "fixed", but we can make sure that people are atleast educated enough to understand that. You can name any issue you want, and I guarantee you it comes down to education. Even if you do wrong, you need to teach your kids whats right from the day they're born and they might have a chance. And you HAVE TO, because the school system is not gunna get the job done.
great message here. confident that i am doin well but every black man including myself we need to get our shit together. we need to treat our women better. maybe their mentality will change if they see us making major sacrifices to show them that they deserve better. 5 stars
that is true. but i think thats only applicable to a certain extent. when you're learning a trade, there are techniques, etiquette, and ethics passed down and perfected that make a praciticing a specific trade more efficient. like engineering or example. my friend is in school for engineering to make a living as an industrial engineer. he knows what he wants to do with his life, he knows what he wants to apply his gift of understanding math to. he has no time for a family right now.
there are just some things that you cannot teach yourself. applicable things in life have been perfected throughout the ages. you can educate yourself, but it can only go so far until you need someone else to show you the most efficient way to get things done. i could easily teach myself the basics that everyone learns but where does that put me on the path to applying my specific god-given gift in the real world?
but i do think our home comes first. and i think it comes before everything else. your home is number1. because without it, you and no one else you love can be here. education, to me, comprises everything that can be "learned" down to the most rudimentary elements of living life. it should come second in my eyes because if you dont learn how to live, then you wont live, or you will do so poorly and it will reflect in your health, and in the health of those that depend on you.
and i agree that we should be fighting.. fucking tooth and nail to protect our home, and the freedom to live your life. if you are not free, someone else is controlling that. and to control you, they have to control your home, because you cant live without it. no one has the right to limit your freedom to live.. especially not any other human being. and if it means that you must die trying, then so be it.. because in death, we are truly free. in my eyes its a win-win situation to fight 4 freedom
see you just educated me and everyone reading these comments. imagine if we did this on a bigger scale? oh the possibilities. lol welcome to the movement!!
I like your comments, but I have to disagree on this one. I am working two full-time jobs and going to school part-time. (I was going to a Campus, but now I am going online to complete my degree). I take care of 2 girls, by myself, and still make time to take them to the park, movies, out to eat and to see my Mom at the Nursing Home. I also date a little here and there. I do think it is possible; you just have to be willing to make the sacrifice of losing a lot of sleep...lol
if everyone could just work 2 full-time jobs to take care of their kids i dont think i'd even be going to school right now. i dont think anyone would go to school.
but then you have to wonder the nature of the jobs. do you need a degree for the jobs that you have? if you do, then you had to go to school to get them. if you didnt, then why go to school? to make more money right? because your two full-time jobs arent enough.
my point is: dont have kids if you havent taken care of YOU.
if you have to sacrifice sleep, of all things.. then im sorry, but you dont have enough time. not sleeping is not healthy. your life should be a priority, which means your health should be a priority, because you have to be there for your kids.
its possible to not sleep for 1 week (ive done it).. its possible to drive with your feet.. its possible to eat 7 big macs in one sitting.. but does that these things priority? does that even make them smart things to do?
i respect the responsiblity.. but i just didnt understand why stick said those 3 things should be the main priority of EVERY man. im a man, but those things arent my priorities.
they are responsibilities of people who havent gotten their REAL priorities straight.
i believe everyone's priorities, point blank, with or without family should be #1, HOME; #2, educating the MIND; #3 HEALTH.
those are the priorities of living. not kids and spouse.
the problem with this society is it engraves in us the immidiate pleasures of the 7 deadly sins (they are called "deadly" for a reason). now not to say this pertains to anyone in particular reading these comments, but lust is the top reason why people these days have kids that they cant take care of without over working themselves.
if more people prioritized their lives, and not their desires, we wouldnt have kids we cant take care of before we've achieved our life goals.
Well, I know the importance of education and believe in lifetime learning. I also believe that parents lead by example and want to be a role model for my kids to look up to. Besides that, I don't want to have to work two jobs just to support them, get out of debt and keep my head above water. I would like to be able to prepare for my retirement and give them a better quality of life. My education is a priority, but my kids always come first. I try to keep a healthy balance in all areas.
Ok, when I finished High School, I really didn't have any direction, so I went into the Military, fell in love, got Married and had a child with my Husband. Despite the fact that I then knew which way I wanted to take my life, I didn't think I had the time to complete my degree. I was working over 80hrs a week with a newborn, and did I mention this was shortly after 9/11 and the Military was in a higher alert level than normal?
The second child is not mine. She is a child whose mother was a psychopath, who tried to kill her at 3months, and our Family (my Mother) took in. My Mother is very ill now, and I stepped up to the plate to care for my "Sister," when she was 10. Unfortunately, the job skills I developed in the Military mainly qualify me for one specific type of job; that of which #1 I am unhappy with, and #2 leaves little room--money-wise--for food and extras. So I decided it was imperative I attain my degree.
The second job, as I mentioned before, is a supplimental income for the extras I cannot afford on a one income budget. My initial goal was to bring in the equivalent of two incomes working one job, but it seemed impossible without a degree. Do I wish things would have happend in the order you suggest they happen? Of course. But things don't always work out the we want them to or think they should.
Therefore, we must take the cards we are dealt--if you will--and do what we feel is necessary to have a good bond with our kids, take care of home and make time for relationships. Not al people are blessed with mentors, guidance or the awarness of what they want to be in life, so some of us have to live a little of it before we make our move. Life wouldn't be an adventure, if we didn't have some obstacles to overcome. I do have concern for my health, but I feel this is what I have to do for now.
I hope this answers some of your questions and concerns. And I respect your opinon and wish things could have been different. At the same time, I am glad I have had the experiences that I have because they have made me stronger and more conciously aware of what needs to be done to, hopefully, break the cycle.
And just incase you are wondering, the debt issue is the result of a stint of unemployment (I will leave out the details here) after getting out of the Military, not wreckless spending habits.
You know all you black men get women pregnant and not being married. Not being a Father but your alot of "girl's baby's daddy" Now you said 3 things children, women, home. What the fuck do you think "Home" is ?You black men have kids by many different women who stay with there mommas take note 1.find a women 2marry women then women gets pregnant.3 Kid is born you and wife raise kid at"Home" together.Plenty of Daddys but only few fathers.Blame white folks only after looking in the mirror...daddy
