@cricketman131 I bought a Bradbury S-300 the other week. Got in professionally knocked in. The light pickup and massive middle is worth the money. Although. Wood is after all just wood.
i bought a bradbury once and my first ball i faced broke the bat, rather go for more well-known bats like gunn & moore or gray-nicholls. just look, nobody uses bradbury on international (even first-class!) level!
People do use bradbury's at an international level, they just put their own sponser's stickers on the bat such as g&m and gray-nicholls ... infact gray-nicholls hardly produce any of its own bats ... they buy them from company's such as kippax and bradbury. so if you dont prepare your bat which you obviously didnt, Im not surprised it broke.
i just bought the new mupa kinetic and ive been playing for about 6 years.i hav never knocked in a bat before.the bat says puma prepared and it has only been rolled.should i still knock it in. if i dont what will happen?
ive got a the new GM hero and it cost me 125 quid for a size harrow (the most expensive for junior), and it came with the GM now and ive knocked it in with a mallet for about 2 hours and it is cracking at the toe. And the toe guards peeling off, any advise??
I have a bradbury S series, i bought it for £220. It broke 2 matches into this season, i oiled it twice and knocked it in for 6 hours at least. It cracked in the nets against a fast bowler with a hard ball. Is this due to lack of preperation or fault in the wood? judging by this video it isnt that! but still..
Was the bat pre-prepared. If not that is probably why as a un prepared bat (Totally Unprepared Basically just the willow) needs about 12 hours and a light netting session with a medium pacer using a quite old ball, if seam marks appear go back to knocking it in.
After watching this video I am overwhelmed with the amazing feeling that these cricket bats would make fine weapons in a street brawl. I'm going to have to put away my clumsy american bats >:D
@kigunonomiko84 if u take my opinion, then the best weapon chosen from available bat and ball sports equipment that you one can use in a street brawl is field hockey stick; better performance than baseball or cricket bat ;)
I'm not a big fan of Bradbury, I have a Bradbury Sterling. I mean don't get me wrong, the bats are top notch quality. But due to my height, I feel I can get more pull using my Slazenger SXI Ultimate or G&M Cannon.

hey i got a bat today...and it says sykes test collage on it. and don brad...but then its signed by les favell and writen on it next to it is a date like 1939 212 not out on it....could it b real? i got photos of it
Great video -- we Yanks greatly value the care and craftsmanship put into our baseball bats by their manufacturers. This video shows that such dedication is not unique to our culture. It is well worth viewing.
Interesting to watch. Only ever saw part of the process before, back in the 80's at the GM factory in Nottingham. A worthy trade these guys have! God Bless em!lol
@barrach7 incredibly boring job for a woodworker! I worked for GM in Nottingham knocking out 400 bats a day! Jacked in and went to Kenya as a volunteer woodwork instructor. Some bats are made from crap willow the stickers they put on hide all the knots in the wood.
@zonkozonko lol. It's often the case that the observer of a job's perspective compared to that of an actual, informed worker is tottaly different! Seems the case here.
Interesting perspective - though a tad dissillusioning ;)
@barrach7 Yep you could liken it to buying a Guitar,or any other wooden product. The cheaper ones may have the name(Fender for instance) but Quality of materials is not the same. The clear straight grained white willow only goes into Top of the range and special bats used by sponsored players.
I went along with Alvin Greenwich (Gordon's brother) in 1987 when he was checking on a bat that was getting made for him. No doubt his one/s was far better quality than I could possibly buy 'off the shelf' by the sounds of things.
To us laypersons (not inovolved with bat-making) it's an interesting topic. I remember a guy in Malton in N Yorks who was making bats for teh local teams literally in his large garden shed. Some cracking middles on his bats and they lasted for years
@barrach7 To be fair I suppose a bat with a Knot in it could last as long if not longer than a perfect one. The process for production is the same. Also the new factory at Colwick looks more hightech I worked at the old place below the castle at the canal side, It was medieval working conditions!
Bought a bradbury 300 and it has a brilliant middle!!!

the reason why English bats are not used as much as Indian subcontinental bats is that English bats are excessively costlier than Indian bats.

depends how much money youve got if youve got alot, buy a new bat, if not, then i dont know because once its started to crack, its fucked
HumanLegend13 2 years ago
have you oiled it enough, or possibly over oiled it. you need to knock it in a bit more (about 6 hours)
flammablepizza 2 years ago
take it back
crease401 2 years ago
youve probably just hit the bat to hard at the beginning stage of the knocking in.
You can put some fibreglass tape or edge tape over the cracks if they ar not too big
motogpfreakige 2 years ago
use fibre glass tap put it around it really tight
