  • Didnt know Stevie had a version of this song out: The Doors, Jose's and Stevie's are all great! thanks Johnnie Walker!

  • Such a SUPERB COVER and MUSICAL PEARL is this tune! Many Thanks mr.Stevie!

  • u can't compare the Doors version with this one or another coz they were not into good music but into entering ur subconscient mind...

else I like Alicia Keys version or Minnie Ripperton's but then it's only music

  • Why are people sayin it is better than the original. No way ! Ray Manzerek's Keyboard playin takes some beating. This doesnt come anywhere near!!

  • what a brilliant version better than the original i heard this on radio 2 the other day and thought it was fantastic

  • wow I'd never heard this version before...and frankly I like it way more than the original

  • Another great version beside the original and Shirley Bassey's. The harp is a bit lost in the mixing.

  • six people dont know what good music is

  • 1:31 is apsolutely awesome, heavenly beautiful music! Bravo, maestro Stevie, that;s why I love this world and people, because of music like this! Greetz from Macedonia!

  • Stevie Wonder is cool, but i STILL prefer the original version by The Doors.

  • This is a mega cool version of this song. I love The Doors but this is a great rendition.

  • Love em both!!!!!!! But im a stevie fan so....

  • I still like Jose Feliciano's the best!

  • @fube89 BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ORIGINAL ARTSISTS, THE DOORS!!!???? HUH???

  • Wow...Stevie set this song on fire...I am so damn impressed to tears right now!!! This is soul music!!!

  • stevie wonder puts some FLAIR into this song... i like the doors version better but this is a very close second

  • Great version.....not quite as good as the original...but still wonderful!

  • Steve is a giant but ... noboby ever sang this song as greatly as Jose Feliciano did.

  • @ytsilva1 ahhhh........ jim morrison sang it better.

  • This Is so much better than the original

  • This is wonderful It is much much better than The doors

  • great!!

  • i love

  • i love

  • And as far as I know, no one has sampled this... WTF?!!! There are so many parts of this song to sample... The bass line alone is wonderful!

  • @roBEARtoEHarwoodJr Portishead used it in their BBC Essential mix...that's where I first heard it.

  • @smarkwater same same :-))

  • @smarkwater same same ;-)

  • Stevie gave The Doors' original some soul to this song. I also love The Doors' orignal.

  • It´s very, very good!!! I love it!!! Stevie Wonder it ´s very cool! And this album it´s one of the best in your carrer.

  • practically every version out there is better than the Doors'. Jim Morrison sucked. WORD.

  • @monicalups forget you man

  • I was wishing Stevie would play the intro on his Clav!

  • classic "Stevie" twist to this song...great!!!

  • this versione came out in 1969 after the 1968 Jose Feliciano cover-hit by the original Doors (then was a hit in 1967), Stevie Wonder says He was inspired by the Jose Feliciano arrangments then in effect, how was admited by writer Doors-Robbie Krieger, was the most imitate at that time: He says Doors had a big debt to Jose

  • was the song released in 1969?

    I really don't know

  • Doors original is flat, this version is fat.

    :)

  • @Gambinotubee

check out the jackie wilson and erma franklin ones too!

  • One of the most covered songs of this earth and then to think that they weren't allowed to sing all of the lines at the Sullivan show.

  • no offense, but this song kicked the doors ver and jose felicano's ver asses.

  • the doors version are 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times better

  • The Doors and Stevie are two of my most favorite artists. This is so cool! Who would of thought Stevie doin' the Doors! Both verisons are excellent in my opinion.

  • @willthethrill129 This is so cool because here are meeting musical performance and ingenuity of two great names in music history-Mister Stevie and hippie Jim together with also great band Doors

  • roberto going into one am sure he will fall of his seat

  • (malcatron)........ it seems like you know a thing or too, but then i read the rest of your statement. noway!! listen to the doors live versions of light my fire, then you will see how they would take it to another level. i like all sorts of music, i heard many versions of light my fire and enjoy them. agian, noway can they touch the doors versions of light my fire!!

  • it's really good, and the Doors' version is really good too... very different styles that cannot really be compared...

  • stevie's version is clearly influenced by jose feliciano's.

  • Stevie's version is clearly influenced by jose feliciano's version

  • @pinoyblues69 A very good version in its own right, probably my favourite cover, though I hate to think of it as a cover.

  • @SwingStu yup very good indeed... my favorite tho' is the original by the doors. this is a close second. jose feliciano's is a close third.

  • @brainjesus .... the José Feliciano version is great too ..!

    Most in acoustic sound .

  • To motowninvestor... couldnt have put it more accurately myself.

  • Stevie always adds that aggressive energy to all of his songs. Love it. Can I have more, sir?

  • this is great cover!

  • I wonder what The Doors thought of this.

  • Magnificent performance. Love the little shout-out to the Windy City at 3:13 .... "Take ya back, Chicago!"

  • I hadnt noticed that bit till you mentioned it.... nice!

  • did stevie do this before josé

  • @brendonkas

NO, Stevie released this in 1969, one year after Jose Feliciano (and part of his arrangments recall Jose Feliciano works and that his great hit)

  • Great song i still have this LP from all those years ago.

  • i like this version, i do, no doubt it's amazing. but the doors version, is much much better, there's no way this song could beat the original.

  • The Doors version is probably the worst version of this song. Stevie, Shirley Bassey/Johnny Harris, Ananda Shankar and Jackie Wilson all recorded better versions

  • actually the doors version is the freaking worst!

  • Are you nuts? The Doors version owns!

*Not to take away anything from this fantastic Stevie Wonder cover.*

  • Once again, I had no idea that Stevie Wonder sang this one.. Honestly, I hated the orginal song, it was just blah. Yet, Stevie sings it and it sounds amazing!

    Love it :D

Once again, Thank You for taking the time to share this lovely music with us =^_^=

  • whats the original version then? the first time I heard "light my fire" was from Doors. when I heard this one, I couldnt believe it...

  • The Doors did the original, largely written by guitarist Robby Kreiger. It is good but I think other artists took the song to another level.

  • hey johnniewalker23 you are a real bretheren! Thank you for all this music. I would haved live on this earth and never heard this version of light my fire my heart is beating double beats right now. HONESTLY! Thanks again man!

  • Thanks jonniewalker23 i love this youve made my day

  • my pleasure :)
