I remember, the first time i heard .. The Liberty Of Norton Folgate.. was on a camping trip, we were in the car on the way to summerset, i had heard of them but thought that they were just like the rest of the 80s music.. as i am normaly a big drum and bass fan, but there was something VERY pleasing about this music.. i really enjoy it and wish to know where to get the album from.. I'm constantly listening to this on youtube now. xx
Well i'm glad to be here and help you. You can buy the album from any normal music shop like HMV for £10. The special box set edition which includes this song is £40, available from HMV and the Madness official store.
dammit didn't know their were all these extra folgate tunes. I've been a madness fan since I was about 8 and the boys are definately on form with this album.
Will fans stop going on about Madness and the eighties. Its fucking gone. We are in a new territory of Madness land and may it long last. These boys have always experimented with music so please button it with the eighties.
Why the bitterness? Nothing wrong with looking back.......... I love TLONF but also One Step Beyond..... As for the 80's....... ??? My experimental years lOl.........
Just one of those moments. Hardly bitterness, more like a rampaging realization of fore gone years that maybe I miss. Old age catching up. Stay Forever Young!
I suppose all the songs on the album get time getting used to, I mean its not like old fashioned Madness type ska, but its still good, NW5 is a classic
Yeah but Madness haven't really been old fashioned ska since around 1980... there's always been traces of it in their music since then and even in the new album, but they aren't the same band that wrote the likes of The Prince, Baggy Trousers etc... they have matured and so has their music, all for the better I think. The Liberty of Norton Folgate is a masterpiece.
Oh yeah, I totally agree, TLONF is a masterpiece, but I do love the old traces, especially the likes of Bed and Breakfast Man, and as you mentioned Baggy Trousers
oh my!! this is fantastic!!

Don't forget "That Close"... it's classic "Baggy Trousers" era Madness, and would make a great single.

Mission From Hell, Seven Dials and One Fine Day are all great songs... The Kiss takes a bit of getting used to but it's still good.

I definitely DISAGREE. Africa is one of the best songs on the album, the lyrics, the guitar, the bass, all absolutely genius.
However I do agree that Hunchback should be on the general release. You gotta admit, the album is pure class from start to finish isnt it?
MrSpeaker06 2 years ago
Well The Kiss and One Fine Day aren't that great tbh but they are OK

Africa is OK, but like we agreed there are many songs better for example Seven Dials, Mission From Hell, and one of my favs Lets Go
imbo8w 2 years ago
Yeah I thought that when I saw the general release, songs like this are more worthy that lets say 'Africa'
