  • The fact that this show is not available on dvd is one of the true injustices of life on earth! Savatage rules and Jon Oliva is God!!!

  • Best ballad in History... and the best live performance in history

    R.I.P. Chris

  • does anyone know what happened with Diamond Jiniya ?

  • @foreverrandyrhoads I wish I knew... I saw them live on the Poets tour and Damond was amazing. It's such a crime that we never got a studio album with him.

  • Epic, one of the best songs ever written. Jon´s a f***ing genious. 3 people a faggots.

  • Huge thumbs up for the sheer respect that Chris Caffrey shows in playing Chris' parts as close to the originals as he does. Really honouring his friend and the fans too.

  • i agree most underated band in the 80s and 90s i say there in the top 5 greatest metal bands in history everything about this band is fuckin history man.

  • Caffery is doing great on the Oliva solos Criss would be proud

  • @oscarsilva ixi, nem me liguei :D

  • Beautiful:)

  • I have so much respect for Chris Caffery, and I think he is awesome.

But, man.... I SO wish Criss Oliva was still around. He was truly a gifted musician.

One of the rare players that could write a complete song. Nasty riffs, and superb solos with soul and feeling that were always a perfect fit.

He deserves to be mentionsed along with greats such as Randy Rhoads, Van Halen, Dimebag, Zakk Wylde, Brian May, and David Gilmore.

  • Increibles!!!!

  • this was the last tour of Savatage. So glad, that I saw them in a killer kick a** show in Summer 2002

  • "I wasted my time .... till time wasted me" ... Oliva in our hearts ... forever ...

  • Epic song, epic performance! Would've been better with Jon handling all the vocals like back when I first saw these guys, sounds like Diamond whoever swallowed a frog or had a helium hit before coming out.......

  • Legendary.

  • @skoldn

The one at the keyboard is Jon Oliva.

  • this is so awesome...

  • Great singer right at the end. Where is he now?

  • I swear, I couldn't hold my tears up when I've watched this particular video!! :'(

Oh God, how I adore this song and it's solo....

Wish I could attend to one of Savatage's concerts...

    Hail Savatage forever....

  • What's the names of both singers? Which one's Jon Olliva?

  • @skoldn Diamond Jiniya

  • @skoldn

jon oliva is behind the keyboard. I think the other guy is zach stevens.

  • chris caffery is good but not as great as criss oliva.r.i.p.

  • Jon Oliva rules !!! Can't wait to see Jon Oliva's Pain do Tilburg 2010 & Trans Siberian Orchestra do Amsterdam 2011.

  • amazing

  • awesome!

  • To myself, It was well done...But without Criss ....Void...

  • very under rated! they where the heart and soul of metal! They were Savatage!!

RIP Criss, we will always cherish your music.

  • im hate to say good bye

  • When Chris died????

  • @MrSpyros17 October 7 1993... his car got hit by a drunken driver.. and he died v.v R.I.P Criss oliva

  • @SandFreakDraspy Thank you...I am a huge Savatage fan but I recognice Criss unlimited talent...RiP Criss

  • @MrSpyros17 Yea its a shame he died o.o him and hideto matsumoto from X Japan.. both died young and i think in same year v.v

  • OMG...i really love this song !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Such a wonderful and emotional song. Criss, rest in peace!

  • Caffery rocks!!

  • What an un-f'ing-believable performance!

I don't know is that Caffery on lead guitar or someone else, but man his guitar sound is searing, and he does Criss proud.

How amazing are Savatage fans all over the world? Amazing!

  • sometimes i wish at live concerts the people will shut the hell up and let the usic play lol anyway, savatage rocks major ass. great band

  • Well, at least we still have JOP and TSO.

  • FUCKING EPIC, \m/ *_* \m/ to Chris and Jon

  • Certainly a fantastic performance but Criss Oliva is dearly missed. and besides that now I miss Savatage a lot they should come back! Jon is a legend!

  • This is absolute beauty! I just wish they had done the entirety of the "I never wanted to Know" part, istead of cutting it short. Still, it is a thing of beauty.

  • One of the beste bands there`s ever gone be!! When is there the reunion.....

This was one of the better concerts I visited. Hail to the Mountain King.

  • This band should play forever & continue on from decade to century & on & on till the end of time :) & thats my final & iam sticking to it \m/

  • I was there when I was a kid, so great to see this back now.

  • @Souryoku001 And you are lucky man! ;)

  • One of the world´s best hardrock / rock opera band! So sad they´re no more! They´ve been superior! Thank god the Mountain King is still alive and rockin´! ;-)

  • FODA!

  • very well played

  • increible!!

  • fuck this is the greatest fucking ballad ever written!! goosebumbs every time!

  • For me the best guitarist who ever lived miss Christopher Michael Oliva

  • savatage has to be the most underrated metal band of the '80s into the early '90s.

i knew the moment i heard jon's piano playing and singing, that unmistakable sound of savatage so well founded on brother criss' guitar work, and that astounding lyrical content, that this band MADE you sit up and pay attention.

one only has to listen to trans siberian orchestra to hear the continuance of this colossal presence.

  • where's the 6th star

  • does anyone know the guitarist's name???

  • The main one is Chris Caffery - a Savatage veteran, as you can hear in his heartrending guitar work here (best concert I've ever been to in my life).

  • I saw them twice on this tour and it was like a religous experience!

  • I was there too! Fantastic concert, I remember.

... it would have been even better if Zachary was still the leadsinger..

  • great !!!!!

  • savatage forever

  • in

    greeck

  • Really excellent song!!!

    Gaby.

  • Hello Gaby, have a good sunday morning from here.

Saw you have a new vid, gonna watch.

    Awesome performance here huh ?

These guys are in Sharkies top 3 !

    Good day my friend,

    Mark

    | Hehe, I misspelled, hehe :-D

    |

    v

  • Remains utterly amazing !

  • Mark, thank you. Sentimental, musical journey. Beautiful moment.

    Alicja

  • Saw them lives several times in Holland. Remains an awesome & my top 3 fav bands ever !

    Beautiful composition.

  • it goes straight to the heart when the musicians love the band itself and the music, not caring about image, attitude or shit like that. you just feel it

  • what a wonderful performance by savatage..

Caffery does a very good work on the lead guitar

  • I'm blown away...but who is the lead guitarist? Doesn't look much like Criss...was this taped after his death?

Or am I too old and senile to tell the difference???

    C'mon guys...help me out!

  • Chris Oliva died in 1993 and this takes place in 2002, so it's not him. Chris Caffery is the guitarist in this video. He did some work with Savatage before and was a friend of Chris Oliva. Sometime after Oliva's death he took over the lead guitar duties and was considered the best person to pay respect to Oliva on stage. Now he's a guitarist with TSO like the other Savatage members. He's an amazing musician. Look him up for more information.

  • well put! :D

  • this is 2002,almost 9 years after Criss passed away. the guitarist here is Christopher Caffery, who actually was the original second guitarist of the band when this song came out back in 1989.

  • Jon Oliva does an amazing job on this song!

  • Fucking amazing. Damond impressed the hell out of me.

  • it was awesome whe TSO played some Savatage last year, but if they had played this song, i would've cried out loud. Criss Oliva is one of my favorite players, along with Caffery and the rest of TSO and Savatage. not to mention, this is my favorite song Savatage wrote. RIP Criss Oliva!!

  • that song and gutter ballet,,,,,so wonderful,,,thanksssssssss

  • very clear high ^^

  • My favorite band!

I'd like to see them back

  • great job chris solo sounds great. this band needs to tour the states

  • Comment removed

  • No. That's Zak Stevens.

  • Comment removed

  • DrFlaxWebFLOO

    LOL! that's totally Damond.

  • Well, i was talking about the singer of Circle II Circle. Someone asked if Damond was the singer of Circle II Circle, then i said, No, Zak Stevens is the singer of Circle II Circle.

    Clear?

  • No. Another poster asked who was on Edge of Thorns. I said Zach Stevens.... The singer here is Damond Jiniya....

  • Actually, the singer is Jon Oliva, Criss's brother. If you pull up some info on the two, you'll find that I am correct.

  • Yes, I KNOW that's Jon Oliva. I was referring to a post which said that Damond what's his face is on the Edge of Thorns album, to which I said "No. That's Zak Stevens"

  • WRONG!!

    That's Zak Stevens.

  • You sir... on Wrong! Check your facts... then post.

  • LIVS10

Is WRONG! not Zak at all

  • That is one bad ass jackson

  • Damond does a great job (where is he now anyway?) as does Caffery.

  • in their veins doesn't flow blood flows the music!!!!!!

  • solo is cool!!!!!

  • i wasted my time till time wasted me.......

    deeply lyric......

  • First song I've heard by Savatage. I like it!

    RIP Criss Oliva

  • I want the shirt Caffery has. RIP Criss Oliva

  • Chris Caffery = freakin' awesome guitarist

  • Is the second guitar player (not the lead) from Seven Witches? Look familliar

  • yes...jack frost

  • I wasn't at that show, but I did see several shows on this tour. It was amazing every time!

Caff, LOVE the shirt you're wearing you're wearing! :)

  • I love Damond jiniya. I don't think he messed it up at all. He does the part very well

  • the other singer fuck up a masterpiece. Why mess with perfection.

  • what is that this a great song best band ever ..... savatage

  • What an amazing song this is.

  • Jeez that second singer blows.

    He sounds SOOOO Whiny.

  • Hm. That Damond guy is probably an amazing singer, but why the **** does he sing the most amazing part of the song? Jon's the only one who can do it properly!

  • i agree my friend

  • He can't do it anymore, I'm assuming. Probably blew out his voice a bit at some point.

  • Jon's voice was effed up then. Jon would sing every day if he could, I'm sure.

    fkin love that one.

  • Classic.

One of my all time favs

  • Damond Janiya is a awesome singer, too bad he never recorded any album with Savatage.

  • Really cool with that "Temptation Revelation" intro.

  • WOW!

  • sempre fodassos.

  • really fantastic!

    savatage reunite!

  • We love you Jon ! Keep up the GREAT work !

  • Best band ever.

  • whose the other guitar player besides caffery

  • Jack Frost

  • cris caffery and alex scholnik are two very underated guitarists.

  • what a performance!

  • Such a fanatastic song one of my favs from gutter ballet!!

  • the intro is from temptation revelation

  • I dont know where the years have gone, but savatage sure needs to so something. i know TSO's big and all, but even just to round off the awesomeness that is savatage with a final album would satisfy me. unfortunately he's right, memories can only last so long.

  • but the music lives on and on ; )

  • True.

  • i know why cant savatage just do one tour and album with caffery, and scholnik. zak and jon can go off and on. i ould to see that them do a tour. even if the great criss olivia couldnt be there it would still rock

  • if only criss. but we still wanna party!!

  • did you notice in this video that caffery is wearing a criss oliva t-shirt? that's freakin' awesome. i need one.

  • im getting one custom made.

  • One of the best Heavy-Metal songs! Ever...

  • I feel the same excitement whenever I listen to Damond Jiniya singing the scream vocal after the solo played.

  • The guy who is singing in the final chorus is not Zac,is not guest...He was the lead singer of Savatage on Poets and Madmen tour,l saw them in London and he was singing damn good all the classics songs. His name is Damond Jiniya and Jack Frost (guitar)was just playing that tour as well replacing Al Pitrelli. But the last line up l think is the same from "wake of magellan" with Zac and Al again, but when we gonna see them again? Hope someday,someday...

  • The guest singer, I believe, is Zach Stevens. He was the lead singer with Savatage for a few albums. He was also with T.S.O, and his own group Circle II Circle. Reportedly he's also working with Savatage for one final album, but that's still up in the air.

  • The lead singer is Jon Oliva, and he's the lead singer, keyboardist for T.S.O., founder of Savatage (with his brother Criss Oliva R.i.P), Doctor Butcher (with Chris Caffery), and T.S.O with Paul O'Neill, and Robert Kinkel.

  • who was the guest singer? dude from TSO?

  • skata

  • swstos

  • i hope savatage get together again .............

  • I LOVE this freaking song!!! CLASSIC!!!

  • few things will make me cry in this life, if any tig rong happens to Jon Oliva I will not hold my tears...

  • I love having discussions about savatage. Criss was actually featured in Guitar World!

  • i read that it waz rele good

  • It was. Finally they recognize him!

  • i personaly think he is one of the best guitar players ever

  • I still haven't heard anyone playing guitar the way Criss Oliva did. His solos were full of emotions.

  • It's about bloody time that they realized how brilliant Criss Oliva was. They should've know years ago. Now Savatage needs its time in the lime light.

  • Although i'm a huge fan of Savatage, i don't think that they'll be able to stand up again :/

  • god id love to meet jon, he is truly a top musician, puts the heart on the line with a real bite, thats ;) how it should be, thanks for the post!!!!
