@foreverrandyrhoads I wish I knew... I saw them live on the Poets tour and Damond was amazing. It's such a crime that we never got a studio album with him.
Huge thumbs up for the sheer respect that Chris Caffrey shows in playing Chris' parts as close to the originals as he does. Really honouring his friend and the fans too.

Certainly a fantastic performance but Criss Oliva is dearly missed. and besides that now I miss Savatage a lot they should come back! Jon is a legend!
This is absolute beauty! I just wish they had done the entirety of the "I never wanted to Know" part, istead of cutting it short. Still, it is a thing of beauty.
One of the world´s best hardrock / rock opera band! So sad they´re no more! They´ve been superior! Thank god the Mountain King is still alive and rockin´! ;-)
savatage has to be the most underrated metal band of the '80s into the early '90s.
i knew the moment i heard jon's piano playing and singing, that unmistakable sound of savatage so well founded on brother criss' guitar work, and that astounding lyrical content, that this band MADE you sit up and pay attention.
one only has to listen to trans siberian orchestra to hear the continuance of this colossal presence.
it goes straight to the heart when the musicians love the band itself and the music, not caring about image, attitude or shit like that. you just feel it
Chris Oliva died in 1993 and this takes place in 2002, so it's not him. Chris Caffery is the guitarist in this video. He did some work with Savatage before and was a friend of Chris Oliva. Sometime after Oliva's death he took over the lead guitar duties and was considered the best person to pay respect to Oliva on stage. Now he's a guitarist with TSO like the other Savatage members. He's an amazing musician. Look him up for more information.
this is 2002,almost 9 years after Criss passed away. the guitarist here is Christopher Caffery, who actually was the original second guitarist of the band when this song came out back in 1989.
it was awesome whe TSO played some Savatage last year, but if they had played this song, i would've cried out loud. Criss Oliva is one of my favorite players, along with Caffery and the rest of TSO and Savatage. not to mention, this is my favorite song Savatage wrote. RIP Criss Oliva!!
Well, i was talking about the singer of Circle II Circle. Someone asked if Damond was the singer of Circle II Circle, then i said, No, Zak Stevens is the singer of Circle II Circle.
Yes, I KNOW that's Jon Oliva. I was referring to a post which said that Damond what's his face is on the Edge of Thorns album, to which I said "No. That's Zak Stevens"
Hm. That Damond guy is probably an amazing singer, but why the **** does he sing the most amazing part of the song? Jon's the only one who can do it properly!
I dont know where the years have gone, but savatage sure needs to so something. i know TSO's big and all, but even just to round off the awesomeness that is savatage with a final album would satisfy me. unfortunately he's right, memories can only last so long.
i know why cant savatage just do one tour and album with caffery, and scholnik. zak and jon can go off and on. i ould to see that them do a tour. even if the great criss olivia couldnt be there it would still rock
The guy who is singing in the final chorus is not Zac,is not guest...He was the lead singer of Savatage on Poets and Madmen tour,l saw them in London and he was singing damn good all the classics songs. His name is Damond Jiniya and Jack Frost (guitar)was just playing that tour as well replacing Al Pitrelli. But the last line up l think is the same from "wake of magellan" with Zac and Al again, but when we gonna see them again? The fact that this show is not available on dvd is one of the true injustices of life on earth! Savatage rules and Jon Oliva is God!!!

I have so much respect for Chris Caffery, and I think he is awesome.
But, man.... I SO wish Criss Oliva was still around. He was truly a gifted musician.
One of the rare players that could write a complete song. Nasty riffs, and superb solos with soul and feeling that were always a perfect fit.
He deserves to be mentionsed along with greats such as Randy Rhoads, Van Halen, Dimebag, Zakk Wylde, Brian May, and David Gilmore.
