I think he would have done better to focus his replies on it being a "temporary levy" lol and refuse to call it anything else. Much like the ALP did with the "temporary deficit". He then could have simply said that upon reviewing the finances, it became apparent that the promise was not financeable for the near future without a levy, so choosing between deferring it or a temporary levy he chose the levy. I would like to know why though. Some justification for not just deferring would be good.
