As a kid aged 12 or so I kept bees and would get sent home from school to collect my swarms(and other peoples). It usually happened on a hot sunny day.
That's pretty much the case. If had the right tools I would have divided this hive into two hives before they bees went and did it on their own! When it becomes overcrowded in the hive the bees will make a new queen. Then the old queen and 10,000-20,000 bees will go look for a new home. That's what you see here in this video. They ended up about 50 feet away on a branch of my next door neighbor's tree.
Great to see people keeping bees, I love it. Swarms are great as well, it means that bees are reproducing.
