  • Many of the flashes streaked very long across the sky with loud thunder. Then very VERY heavy rain like a garden hose in which our house we ALMOST never hear the rain snince it's over insulated.

Oh. It's tomorrow already! I gotta go to bed! Hope we don't get another surprise storm this morning waking up me.

I am too tired to type.

  • Here in Silverton Oregon this morning around 3:30 I woke up to lots of bright lightning that made the sky look like day for about 40 mins of almost non stop lightning. I actually saw the flashes in every direction except west though there were non that touched the ground I could see. Usually the lightning if any is too far away to see anything other then a flash.

It's been humid as heck lately as if we were on the east coast with dew points around 60 here before and after the storms.

  • :o

  • I remember this storm in Vancouver WA although I heard the storm was stronger in salem, it still packed a punch when it hit my area, with 55-60mph wind. it was cool

  • we arrived that day from houston. It was a surprise for my mom and sister. she wanted to kill us because we didn't tell

  • I was at a graduation at the armory. It flooded. Hooray.

  • I was out for a run in Corvallis when this happened. It was stupid of me to do but I saw the clouds as they were a greenish color and decided to go running anyways...as I approached an intersection a lady drove up to me and told me that I needed to get inside because there was a severe t-storm warning. I continued on and ran through the core of this thing. I was freaking out with bolts hitting everywhere. i had to hide under a bridge with a biker and then it passed and I wen home. it cont'd latr

  • I was there in west Salem. So many lightning bolts touched down outside the house. Then it all went silent... No rain, wind or lighting for like a minute. This was some scary stuff to be in. This video gives the storm no justice, you would have to be there to really appreciate how dangerous it could have been for Salem, Oregon. Great video though

  • ahh.. good'ol Oregon sunshine. gotta love it here =)

  • omg wish we had thunder like this in england

  • DUDE that one was CRAZY! at the time i lived over by the DMV on portland road. I heard the tornado was coming. im like oh shit oh shit. it was AWESOME! then when it was over i went to the coast with my mom trying to chase it but it ended up switching dirrection.

  • 3clGTX - "You don't know man you weren't there!"

  • Hell yeah dude this was insane. it would have been killer if you got the trees flyin good job though

  • Wow, over 900 views? WTF? Are people that fucking stupid? They've never seen it rain before?

  • Well how dose it feel to be among the over 900 viewers? lol

BTW It was way more impressive in person and I missed the part where big parts of the trees where flying off.

  • I guess ScratchMasterSPAZZ lives in Kansas and sees this stuff all the time. Here in the northwest thought it rains quite a bit but very rare the weather gets this wacky.

  • I live in Salem, I was taking bong hits the whole time this storm happened. It wasn't shit...

  • @ScratchMasterSPAZZ You are right, this is not the best storm around here. Back in the I thing '70s when I was in Calapooia elementary School in Albany I saw tornado or funnel cloud roping in and out of the clouds. I was scared shitless being 8 or 9 years old and trying to tell a playground official and they were oblivious to the tornado and ignored me. I remember when getting home and heard on the ol' black and white tube a couple of houses got there roofs ripped off.

  • @ScratchMasterSPAZZ and btw weather like this doesn't usually happen often so we thought it was pretty cool to experience :)

  • @imahull I live in Salem fuckwad. It rains here all the time and sometimes there is wind. This video is proof of that.

  • @ScratchMasterSPAZZ hey dump truck, this is imahull, and i wasn't talking about the video, i was talking about the entire storm its self dumb fuck, we hardly ever get severe stroms like this one with a tornado warning

  • omg. i was in mexico on the time of this storm =(

wish i couldve been here by that time. but now im back and it is HOT!!

  • south salem here and on my street it only took 1 minute to have at least 1 inch of flooding on the street. lighting going of every 5 seconds....

  • This storm was insane. I had the tornado part of "The Wizard of Oz" going through my head during the worst of it, and I'm not usually one to overreact during a storm. The worst storm I've ever seen, though I missed the Columbus Day one, as I wasn't born yet.

  • This storm was awesome! Lancaster was a river! Did your power go out as well?

  • Wow! it was worse down there than in Portland.

  • lol yeah. But I missed some of the worst of it because I accidentally turned the camera off. One of the tall trees in the video lost a few big branches and they went flying.

Wish i could have got that. :(

    Oh well.. thanks for commenting.

  • In on the NE side of town between sunnyview and silverton. I was out driving in it!!! I was pushing water down the road with my bumper at most major intersections, and I could barely see the tail lights in front of me. I kept looking for funnel clouds luckily never saw anything come close to touching the ground. Our whole yard/garage flooded, tree limbs down in our front yard, and no power when we came home. LOVELY. Best storm I've ever been in.

  • lol i like how you ended that! :p

  • Thanks for posting this video. Portland did not get too hard.

  • Wow, Awesome vid. What side of town are you on? I love seeing everyones storm videos from around oregon. Really informative. thx

  • Thanks. I'm on the northeast side of Salem.

I saw more home videos on the news yesterday than can can find here. wish people would upload there videos to youtube as well.

  • Yesterday was crazy... Within minutes of the downpour most of Lancaster was flooded. I have never seen anything like it before.
