@NOT1LOST when the Bible said that the wages of sin is death, how are u sure he isn't talking about how our earthly bodies are supposed to die because of the sin we allowed to enter into our lives? I'm not sure He is speaking of Jesus dying for our sins.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ WE ALL ARE STUPID,WOW WE NEVER KNEW ALL THE THINGS YOU ARE SAYING ..........WHATS NEW OLD TIMER WHY REPEAT THE SAME THINGS WE ALL HAVE READ WHY
Here's the real question NOT1LOST, whether you believe in hell as fire and brimstone or not is not as important this: do you believe in eternal separation from God for unbelievers? if the answer is yes, as it should be for anyone calling themselves a Christian, then is the outcome really all that different? Whether it's fire or just being separated, both are torture in their own right. one of them just sounds nicer...
its before you for the asking... but what keeps a man from asking?
Is it the pleasures of this world, is the man too prideful to acknowledge he is a sinner?
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine HEART that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
It should be clear Jesus did His part [John 3:16] now man is responsible to take action and ask of his soul salvation in Jesus.
If the penalty for sin is "death", yet Christ descended into hades/sheol and preached to "the dead"; how are we "dead" and where (really) is hades/sheol? :)
not everyone believes that he descended into hell. Jesus said "it is finished" just before he died on the cross. there would have been no need for him to descend. some people think the idea of decent came from the poetry. basically because he ascended, he had to first descend.
So you are saying that not everyone believes the bible (since that is what the bible says)? For me, it is a matter of what/where "hell" (hades) is not whether or not Christ went there; the bible says he did.
first off, the Bible NEVER says that Christ descended into hell. The Apostles Creed says that, but that is not in the Bible. It was created long after and is simply peoples interpretation of what the scripture is saying. My point was that people assume he descended because of the fact that he ascended. I would argue that the only descention was when he humbled himself and came to earth. and of course, the ascention is when he was raised from the dead and returned to the Father.
We do not assume that He "descended" scripture says that He who ascended FIRST DESCENDED into the lower parts of the earth. It also says that His soul was "not left in hell". So the connection is made between Christ "descending" and his soul being "in hell". What other connection can you make? Now I am not disagreeing with you, as I asked TO where and FROM where to Christ first DESCEND and then ASCEND is not INTO/FROM THE EARTH? SO what does that tell you about "hell" (hades)?
and whether it is fire and brimstone like people assume, i do not know. Christ used an earthly place of fire and brimstone to describe what hell would be like because we could relate to that physically. however, that doesn't mean that hell would be physical fire and brimstone, but rather that the separation from God would be as if you were burning alive in that earthly place. I can tell you that unbelievers will be eternally separated from God and IMO fire would be an easy road compared to that.
The penalty for sin IS DEATH (separation from God); the soul that SINS; it shall DIE; sin when it is finished BRINGS FORTH DEATH. See a picture here? Where do "the DEAD" live? How and where did Christ preach TO THE DEAD, to THE SPIRITS IN PRISON? whose bodies (of this death) are full of DEAD MEN'S BONES, whose THROAT is an open sepulcher, whose TONGUE is a world of iniquity set on fire OF HELL/GEHENNA? (We are to compare SPIRITUAL things with SPIRITUAL, my friend.)

Just got through watching the series Rome. It showed me where alot of the pagan teachings came from and eventually became incorporated into the Papal system and then many other churches. I pray the churches would wake up to the fact that the apostasy started not long after Jesus left just like He said in Revelation.
@NOT1LOST was that most likely for me??
