Too many kids out there think they can be great filmakers if they have the best high-definition cameras and special effects programs, making sure there are no editing mistakes. But when it really gets down to it, its all about telling a story, and whether you care about that story and the characters within it. Thats it. Thats all a good movie is

This was filmed months before Juno . So actually Juno=first few seconds of this video.

And... I think the 2nd place for Lisa was fair, since Ties use the required elements in a more creative way, integrating them in the story, while "Lisa" threw the elements ramdomly through the story.

In my opinion "my name is lisa" was better. Just because it was a very touching story. When the mother forgot her name, and she said "my name is lisa", on cried on the inside. The Lacos(Ties) was very good, but it is more of a conplex story. Thank you very much to everyone who participated!

Well it's because its an american movie and you know the actors. lacos is not and if it's an american movie, that might more interesting at your end. my name is lisa is wonderful to watch too, but in general, its just like speaking of specific audiences while the Lacos (ties) speaks to anybody's hearts. The winning video deserved it; it was excellent and the girl was gorgeous and the story was very good. Letting the people of youtube vote makes more sense than some stuffy, elitist panel of judges; youtube is about YOU, the PEOPLE!

The "emo haircut" it's because the end of the story, i don't wanna tell what happen but that hair and clothes was inspired in "beatles fashion".

Some people may find the dialogue confusing, but this is what we call "language barrier" in movies. The translation to English simply just can´t catch the emotions and the perception that Portuguese-speakers catch with this story. The words "ties" ou "bows" are commonly used in Portuguese in regards to relantionships, so it´s clear that he´s talking about an important relationship for her.

From a marketing standpoint, YouTube is smart to leave the vote up to the public because it builds an involved community. However, if the YouTube community truly picked these three films as the best, it illuminates their lack of exposure to cinema and their inability to follow instructions. If YouTube was looking to appeal to serious directors with Project Direct, I hope this year's winners indicates that the community isn't comprised of the best judges.
