And in the following season, the UCLA Bruins went to "The Big House" and beat the Wolverines, 31-27. And in the same Saturday, the USC Trojans shut out the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, 12-0. It was an Unforgettable, and Epic Saturday of College Football for Los Angeles.
UCLA Football set the NCAA record for Most Consecutive Bowl Wins on New Year's Day back in the 1980's. How could you say that UCLA Football sucked in the 1980's?
Bo's worst coaching job. Michigan was consensus #1 at the start of the season, and ended it 8-3. Should have been an undefeated, national championship season.
The Bluebonnet Bowl discontinued following the 1987 game, since then there was the Houston Bowl from 2000 until 2005, and now the Texas Bowl which is technically a seperate bowl game. Hope that helped you out. =)
that shirt Bo was wearing has to be one of the ugliest things I've ever seen. That shade of yellow is awful, and it looks like it was all polyester. That sucker must have been uncomfortable.
At 8:08 that´s Lee Corso giving the color analysis of Smith´s TD. He "tried to get him to come to Indiana". I thought Corso was still coach at Indiana in 1981.
Yep. He helped do the play by play of this this game and he was even introduced as the head coach of Indiana.
Strange enough, coaches sometimes did commentary for other games back in those days. Joe Paterno gave the color analysis during the Michigan/Ohio State game in 1974.
You could tell during this game that Corso hated complimenting Anthony Carter since he was still smarting from that game in Ann Arbor 2 years earlier.
I think Corso was more PO'ed about UM FB Lawrence Reid's "intentional fumble" out of bounds one play earlier, as Corso protested that Reid´s knee was down and that the clock should therefore keep running (out).
Corso said back in 1977 "We have Michigan right where we want them"..."off the schedule".
Very nice. This was Bowl win no.2 for goold old Bo Schembechler, and it was also a great ending to a season that was somewhat dissapointing consdiering we were ranked NO.1 at the beginnnig of the season. Eat it Pac 10!!! We still own the pac 10 all time! HAHA!
@Poole1Dan Uh I saw you play at home against Oregon in 2007, it wasnt very pretty...sure didnt seem like ownership of the pac10 to me! And the following season after this game, UCLA went into Michigan and beat them 31-27, then had a rematch in the rose bowl and won again 24-14. 2 UCLA wins over Michigan in the span of 4 months LOL.

Congratulations. In 11 meetings against Michigan, UCLA has won 3.
3 out of 11. That's nothing to brag about.
