Motorola StarTAC

I got lucky, and got a startac almost before it was "realeased" - the best I've ever owned.

Thinking of the bulky socalled "smartphones"... I really get angry. The last Startac was below 60 grammes!! (!) - why is it impossible to find a similar phone - without all those silly gadgets; - when most of us just need a mobile which is LIGHTWEIGHT and simple?? go to hell with navigation, internet, mail and angrybirds :-)

I miss this phone so much. Best phone. Never ever failed on me. Not once. Unfortunately it does not use sim cards. I am with tmobile and they use sim cards so they won't be able to activate it. :-/

Best mobile phone ever made, anyone who had or has a startac will agree. I used mine from 1998 to 2004 and only stopped because I moved out of the country. Thinking of tossing my HTC Tilt and re-activating my trusty startac now that i'm back.

i agree with you best phone ever made! unreal durability! i had mine from 2002 to 2007. i has actually brought my cumalitive timer up to 99999 and it stopped going from there. so eacy and comfy to use to. i hape they do a relaunch someday!

Sad story about Motorola.. because they used nepotism when moving to the next CEO, their market share went from 54% in 1995 to just 11% in 2000! Incredible huh? I guess they're stronger now, but yeah..

My first cell phone was a Motorola StarTac and I loved it. I still rank it as the best cell phone I've ever owned. It was so high-tech looking back in 1997 when I first purchased it. It lasted for about 6 years before it finally went to cell phone heaven. Too bad.

It took about 10 years, but the microphone broke in mine and I had to replace it. Bummer. A Startac could probably survive a nuclear bomb.
