Oh and for ur remark that u saw many VNese pretend to be Chinese...That's b/c they are ethnic Chinese from VN. Ethnic Chinese used to be the largest minority in VN prior to 1975 (most of them concentrate in South VN), but after 1975 the Communist govt collectivized their properties which they resisted and hence fled in large to the US. Yes, many of the Vietnamese "boat people" you know are ethnic Chinese. Now ethnic Chinese falls down to become the 6th largest in VN.

Poor countries like VN usually don't develop great entertainment industry like Japan, Korea, Taiwan...which is why CJK drama/music flood into Vietnam. Correction on your point: most, if not all, contemporary Chinese songs are original. Yes we copied other songs, but that was largely in the 1990s. Where do you think Jay Chou, Jolin Tsai, David Tao, Lee Hom, JJ Lin get their inspiration from?

Another correction: the "ethinc Chinese" Vietnamese singers you mentioned, they copy Chinese songs because they know it's marketable. Why is it marketable? Because Vietnamese consumers realise our songs are indeed better than what they can produce. Same theory with American pop culture all over the world. My point? Don't be naive, the entertainment industry follows trends. And right now the trend is Chinese music = superior. Which is why so many Vietnamese people I know pretend to be Chinese.

For example the songs Sorry I Love You (or Snow Flakes) and Rouge (Vulnerable women in Chinese) are originally Japanese but they're great songs so they've been translated into many languages including English. :D Chinese have translated many foreign songs into their language too and you shouldn't moan when this song is translated into Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, English... Most songs are composed to express the feeling of the author and for others to enjoy, not to designate to any nationality.
