No, you missed my point, maybe due my writing style. In my opinion, Kilmer became Morrison, and the reviewer was so taken in by his role, that he saw Morrison's pretentiousness through Kilmer. Kilmer was merely acting; "pretending" to be Morrison. Morrison was "self inflated and over the top" (pretentious) but I still dig him!

OMG, how did I miss this episode. What season is this from? BTW douchebag PM555, I met Val this past weekend and have talked to him a little since and the guy is a sweetheart. A lot of times talented, creative actors (not the commercially generic ones that Hollywood shoves down our throat time and time again) can be difficult. He has played 2 real characters & when I watch "The Doors" I forget that it's Val Kilmer and almost feel like I am watching Jim Morrison. So suck on that!

i totally agree... he's a magnificent actor... one of the best, i think... look at works like real genius and top secret (yay for awesome beginnings!) then top gun, the real mccoy (SUCH an underrated movie), the doors, tombstone, heat, the island of doctor moreau, wonderland, and kiss kiss bang bang (in my opinion, one of the greatest movies ever... he needs to do more stuff to remind people of how funny he is)!

I actually really like Val as an actor. However, I'm not sure I would like him as a coworker or boss. I really hope he has changed and he gets another shot. Only time will tell. actually, your looking at all the negative crap he took in the 90s. he WAS difficult, hes actually quoted as saying "yes i can be difficult, but only with stupid people." those directors you mentioned werent exactly good as gold to him either, they didnt respect his ideas, and they didnt listen to his suggestions in terms of character development. once val was asking joel (batman director) for advice on a scene and joel responds with a " your f***ing batman, just go out there and do it!"
