Are Akitas really good pets for fun loving high school sophomores with lots of open land in north-eastern United States? I was really thinking about getting a girl like yours for a new house of mine because they're so soft, not smelly, and calm, but fun... and looks like a giant dog form of fox :D Is it true though? My mother had a friend who had troubles with two Akitas and their obedience. I think that means you have to train them earlier..
It'll be better to be in the country than town for Akita as they need to do lots of exercise. As far as I know, they're very dominant. Yes, you may love him/her very much but you gotta show who is the boss from the beginning.
