hank you so much for your hard working. Your videos do help me a lots!!! I am working on a big spread sheet now and only need one level subtotal summed by Parts Type, but I still want other information showed on the subtotal level, like stardard price, warehouse number, ect. I need this kind of information to show on the front of page(visible copy of subtotal), How can I take this out? General after subtotaled, other information are all hidden.
maybe this one will help me, i have a project to do :) and need same tips like this video :). i will subscribe, so when i have a problem i will go trough your vids :)
I asked you about subtotal questions 4 week ago and posted the questions on the Mr Excel Message Board as you suggested. Dax responded back today and suggested using Pivot Table as well.
I thought that nobody would answer my question because either I am so far behind or my question is not a good question. Anyway, Dax encouraged me today. Since last week I am going through your Highline Excel Class videos. They are great videos.
You have done a tremendous job of sharing your knowledge of Excel with us, who don't know a whole lot about it but wanted to learn, in a very effectively way, You have provided us tools, your videos using real problems with good analysis and those wonderful workbooks, to practice and to eventually own those tips and tricks. You have convinced me that Excel can be fun. I am so into it now.
My work is just a small part of what Excel can do. The people at the Mr Excel Message Board are the Smartest Excelers around and so they can do so much more!!!
Thanks for your quick response and good advice. Yes, using Formulas for subtotals come quick and easy but for a large file you won't get the summary by each sort/level as quickly as using the subtotals feature. Is that right? I never thought of using PT for subtotals. I will try it.
Again Q1, I need company to be the major sort, then product with subtotals for each year. So I sorted Co# 1st, for some Co it worked, on the bottom, not for all of them.
First of all thanks for all the hard work and great videos that helped me so much.
Questions for the Subtotals: Excel 2003
1. When I have three levels of subtotals, say by Co 1st, then by acct, then by year, some of the subtotals of acct were placed under the subtotals of the year. How can I fix it?
2. The subtotals of the last section of the data range add more than hundreds of empty cells. I have to try to find the number from pages and pages down. Why?
Q1: The Major sort is always on the bottom, so you might try to make year the major sort instead of acct.
Q2; I don't know why.
You might try sending your question to the Mr Excel message Board (since I use Pivot Table and Formulas for my subtotals more than Subtotal feature, maybe someone there has more knowledge that can answer your question).
