i don't know about you guys, but i always tear up when i hear this masterpiece. and now to hear it in a combination with David Oistrakh! i really dont know what to say other then: thank you david, thank you very much! :)
I just discovered "youtube" not long ago. (Where have you been, girl?) What a luxury to listen to these world renown musicians with most famous orchestras accompanying them. Thank you, to all these people who made it possible! What I miss though is that often there is no mention of the conductor's name, the name of the orchestra and the date when it was recorded. This would really put it in context. However, even so, it is heaven! Elizabeth
He is great everybody knows. What I like espeically is that his nature gesture, body move, flexible neck. And without any sign of show off. I guess he does not need to show off.
I can see Mr. Oistrakh had definitely a different style from Perlman. He's definitely very concentrated, and seems to play with the style of a Guanerius, and with such unbelievable passion.
Dios mío, es que la palabra vortuosismo pierde relevancia con él, cómo logra ese sonido aterciopelado, sensual, voluptuoso y esa interpretación innombrable
9:30 The most powerful moment in the history of music. Well, really, this whole piece is the most powerful moment, and Oistrakh captures it perfectly. Who cares if he's not technically perfect? He's musically perfect.
I have to disagree. I think Oistrakh has a very tasteful interpretation of that passage. A lot of recording tends to rush through that passage whereas Oistrakh held back and let every single note sing, complemented by the strings section playing the pizz in the background.
I've listened to other talented violinists, but David Oistrakh is by far the Best. I wish I could listen to him playing in person. Sad there is no one this gifted now days
@Radamathill j'aime le a peu près, c'est ce qui fait la différance, mais aussi la qualitè de l'enregistrement, le vinyl les bandes et le numérique sont différant, mais en déffinitive tchaikovski est merveilleux
Thanks so much for posting this. Oistrakh was the first interpretation of this concerto I heard, many years ago, and never heard another like it. Used to listen to this on cassette tapes 30 years ago. Brings back fond memories. So nice to see this video.
Han existido ghrandísimos violinistas , pero para mí ninguno como OISTRAKH,he tenido la grannn suerte de escucharle en directo y es algo que no se puede olvidar.
WTF! it's just the best violin sound i've ever heard, it's just beautiful, his articulation is so exact and he takes care about every note he plays T.T beautiful!!!
I wonder why everyone always discusses the solo violinist while this is just the preperation and in-between leading to the real deal that explodes at 6:54 - by the whole orchestra...
@MrZiggyplaysguitar probably someone that dislikes the player... though He is awesome and plays so good, someone might think there are better players or versions, at least that will the an acceptable reason to dislike something like this....
this right here is what I call sounds of heaven on earth..I mean really how could you disslike this..I love House..music and many other typs of music but this is one as close to confort as it gets..lovely indeed.
wow, it sounds much touching than the Heifetz's interpretation in the movie~ though I was attracted by Heifetz's superb technique and power, Oistrakh's (as well as the Orchestra's) interpretation could make me feel more Russian when listening to this.
@MisteriosaVampiria oops that what i actually meant!! i just estimated because i let the whole part play before i commented haha yes that's my absoulute fave part :)
hearing things like this my heart fills with hope...This celestial music is the proof beauty will never die in the world... Menuhin, Oistrack, Heifetz, I thank you for leaving us these immortal pieces... If you feel it you think the world can't be so bad all in all... <3
Thank you for posting this. I had an LP of Oistrakh playing this concerto, years ago, which I wore out. I'm not a connoisseur of violin players but I always thought his playing was remarkable.
My partner was watching "There Will be Blood" tonight and I thought the Brahms violin concerto in the closing credits sounded like Oistrakh's playing, but I see it's actually Anne-Sophie Mutter. A similar virtuosity, I suppose.
The Cadenza of !st Movt is better than Hifetz (see Hifetz) Carnegie Hall - I had to admit , IMHO.-though I think Hifetz is the King of Violin. But David Oistrakh really demonstrated this Russian music to the fullest extend. Great YouTube video.
This is the best version of violin concerto in D op35. It really outperforms heifetz version. The slow tempo gives more russian feeling and a warm and nice sound. Heifetz just seems to rush at the end of the 1st move.
just when oistrakh finishes his solo in the middle the orchestra takes over and he wipes his face, he hands over the music unable to go further until his next solo
