it's a spin-off ( a show that comes from another show) of grey's anatomy. kate walsh (addison) stars in it and she left grey's so that Meredith and Derek can finally be together. i'm watching private practice, but to tell you the truth, she was much better on grey's (i really miss her cuz she was me favorite)!!! although i do think that it was the best thing for shonda to do so that meredith and derek can get back to being "bright and shiny" :D
